Perhaps you would prefer the term
"correct" or "accurate" representation of a warlord titan instead of that bulbous rounded shoulder "mars pattern" thing that FW makes now.

Haha yes ofc MDG was referring to the 'Beetleback' which was the first Warlord and the true classic. Think the boxier one came along with the release of Armageddon was it? (Or was it Epic 40l?)

My work network is blocking that image but I know exactly which one you are referring to
That release was definitely poor compared to what came before. I had heard that at that time, around the Special Games period, a lot of the apprentice sculptors were cutting their teeth with that range so you ended up with a few strange releases for Necromunda, Epic etc
Those are great. My favourite, just for nostalgia's sake, will always be the 2nd edition Space Marine one which was a bit more rounded (although not to the extent that I will pay £70/80+ from ebay for it unfortunately).

Y’know, with GW doing limited runs of OOP models, I’m wondering who I might need to offer Executive Relief to for Epic to be included.
I mean, surely the moulds exist? Somewhere, in a store room? The ones for plastic kits at least, given they’re all made of steel and that.
Provided they’ve not changed their machinery (I can’t rule it out), doing a production run would cost relative pennies, so wouldn’t need a massive number of orders to make it worth it. And even if relatively few are all that interested, you’d think we’d order a good couple of hundred quids worth (or more) each?
I guess the main limiter is something akin to “yes, we could do that, and it wouldn’t cost us much to do it. But it’s still at least one machine dedicated to churning them out, when it’s better off churning out the other kits we do, which sell well”.
I’d love them to do this. Whilst I get the moulds for metal models might’ve long since perished (again, this is partially informed guess work), if they are workable, go crazy please GW!
With enough warning, I for one would do what I could to save up enough money to buy enough gubbins to be able to field any and all Company/Support cards in any combination.
Do you think this is something a more or less organised campaign might achieve?

Problem is Epic 40k by today's mini standards the old models do not hold up well to today's GW standards, even 3D printed mini's produce better detailed models then some of the old epic40k mini's, GW is not going to do a rerun of an old game that is out of date, they have hinted they would be expanding the lines of mini's available to the Adeptus Titanic's line.

They won't do it for the same reason they killed epic and BFG before.
1.you don't need as many models at cost to play=GW makes less money
2.cost to return benefit diminishes over time-see point 1
3.the expansion line is limited. take for example the chaos and imperial fleets- aside from the big batttleships that were in metal. every cruiser and battle cruiser (7 variants) could be made with the single 2 ship pack of plastic cruiser hulls with add on multiple deck slots that came with the kit and you only needed 3-6 to make a decent sized fleet.
4.overall interest/support-most players are not interested in 6mm or fleet naval battles like they are with 28mm when it comes to the hobby or play side of the game. it is more of a niche inside a niche part of the 40K base.

Going to slap my reaver titan on eBay and use that to get a printer finally.
Been putting it off for far too long.
Means building up my epic will be far easier.

Well, I've made it through this thread in the past three days, which has inspired me to root around and discover how much Epic stuff is available as STLs. I finally set up my Elegoo Mars over the holidays (bought it last May, then a massive work crunch hit) and I've tinkered enough to feel confident with it. These two facts together have me scheming to put together some Epic forces again.
I'd play Epic 40K. The third edition dropped right as I had my first wargaming army - a 5th edition WFB Undead army - painted up to a solid, playable 2000 points. I'd tried to get into 40K 2e and just bounced off, for various reasons. But Epic40K treated me just fine...until the group of five of us playing became just me and a friend. Then he eventually slinked off back to his 28mm Orkz, too...
The old 2e stuff I have and have read has just always baffled me - it came from a school of wargames design just a bit before my time. I've looked hard at Epic: Armageddon and its successors and...I understand the choices made. And I don't understand why trading the ability to choose my own titan weapons in favor of tournament balance is a deal-breaker for me. But it is.
I'm also gloriously free of my old 3e-5e 40K Eldar army, so I don't feel obligated to start with a Ulthwe army this time! (Well, I still have the army, I just haven't played 40K in 3...4?...editions.) The idea of putting together a 'starter set' of Orkz vs combined Imperium is really appealing and won't let me go.
Maybe this is a passing fancy, but maybe I'll be back with some pictures soon.

Welcome to the thread Psychopomp
Think that's the great thing about this scale and, weirdly, that it's a 'dead' system. No having to keep up with the latest and greatest, tournament meta and the rest and just being lead by the nose and forced to play some crap update. Instead you can have a collection of miniatures and then wheel these out for whichever system you want to play, and the only penalty might be a stand or two or you'll have to 'counts as' something else with a unit. I'm hoping to use Armageddon if I play any tournaments (as that seems to be the predominant system in the UK), also Imperius Dominatus as it's amazing for Crusade/heresy era and I'm hoping for some events later on this year, and finally 2nd edition Space Marine/NetEpic for games with a couple of mates as I used to love that system and Orks in it are so much fun.

My plans are to have (at least) two armies in my collection so that I can bully friends into playing beer & pretzel games with me. 3e has always been a good system for that element, too.
This project might also finally push me into learning how to use Blender, too. I really like the look of the Vanguard Skinners as opposed to the old-school RT-era 'goofy' orkz I can find on Thingiverse (who, don't get me wrong, also have a lot of charm to them). But, the entire point of this project would be that I can 3D print what I want without having to make and wait on orders that have to ship from the UK. So, I might finally bite the bullet, learn the Blender UI, and have a go at my own 'Vanguard-inspired but not duplicated' sculpts!

Compared to a 3D printer it is. In fact, the DIY aspect of finding STLs I like, choosing what my army looks like, and maybe even learning the basic 3D sculpting to design anything I can't find is a big part of the appeal of the process.
I once did the 'try to chase down and buy Epic armies' before, not again. I ended up selling it off (with some nice turnaround, actually) between grad school and my current employment, to make ends meet. This time, I want to craft and paint, not hunt and buy.

Ah, the thrill of the hunt and tracking down rare minis is part of the fun man!
Especially with the 'attic clearout' auctions when some parent is clearing out their departed kids stuff, and has taken one bad phone photo with the auction title 'Warhammer Stuff'. I love looking at the photos, zooming in and trying to work out what they are.
That being said I totally get the appeal of not having to go through that, especially if you are after specific miniatures and ranges, and not having to painfully and resentfully buy-it-now on some horribly over-priced mini! Vanguard and Onslaught miniatures have really helped me with that. I know the stuff isn't 100% dead on the 'official' designs, but for stuff like the alien races (orks and squats etc.) as well as the more varied pre-heresy stuff, think they have been invaluable. Definitely think they have helped push prices down on eBay too on the old original stuff, and I'm sure 3D printing will continue to have that effect.

Well there is that, but also as a classic battletech player i like having the minis in metal. but i have gotten a fair share of minis for games via online 3d printing services for various games where the model doesn't even officially exist......like my armada scale bellator class super star destroyer.

I gave up hunting epic models a while back when rebuilding my original tyranids.
Every auction I was going against scalpers that were happy to pay 20% over the price just to add it to their shop of triple priced items to corner it.
The time has come though.
Threw my reaver titan on eBay to clear up some cash and will be investing in a pair of Mars 2 pro printers.
Time to go big on epic again.

Got plenty of Epic on the go at the moment, just wrapped up a Great Gargant for my Goff army.
Also started a small line of boutique figures to fill some of the gaps in the 3rd party market, starting with some Floating Castles that work well for Epic and also Man O War.
If folks are interested, they are available as resin casts.

I will get around to Chaos at some point and have got those on the list
Have to say listening to the Crown of Command podcast and review of the Ork and Squat Warlords review has got me super enthused about Orks for 2nd edition/NetEpic - just put a fairly large order in with Vanguard and next on the list is an Evil Sunz clan..
