On an Express Elevator to Hell!!

That looks like a really cool terrain setup!

I meant to post these dudes before. This is a couple of Beastmen detachments with a 'counts as' Gorgon transport. These are auxiliary units for my Great Crusade-era World Eaters force, so I tried to tie them into the unit by adding a legionary handler and some use of the colour blue! All of the minis are from Microworld Miniatures, with the exception of the marine who is from Vanguard.

More epic battles- using index 8th ed rules with half ranges

Unfortunately, it was me loaning out my armies to fight myself again but at least it was a fun game-

Iyanden eldar VS DKOKI armor with imperial air and titan support-

The deployment-

Spoiler:

Spoiler:

The imperial force got to go first and it hurt-the volcano cannon on the reaver nearly deleted my revenant in one shot.

The ground battle was a bloody trade off but the save for the eldar came in the form of the super heavy flyers, that despite the imperial best efforts managed to swing around and demolish the opposite flank of the imperial force.

The eldar force may have won the day but they lost nearly all the wave serpents, a titan, a flyer and the scorpion super heavy tank was on 2 wounds.

Well I finally got round to picking up a few models and actually attempting this again after about 20 years, I’m not going to lie the range and type of citadel paints nowadays blew my head off. So here’s my avatar of khaine bought from a decent gent on eBay for a steal at £7.00.
Intimidating but highly enjoyable.

Since I was about 10 I have loved models, mainly the building and painting aspect and the older I got the collecting rather than the actual game play.

Another epic game...i loaned out and helped a bit with somebody trying out epic scale play. pitting my space marines VS another guys thousand sons rubric terminator themed force.

This one was a real air war with 9 on one side and 5 on the other. the chaos forces went first and all through the game the lords of fate were with the 15th legion....so many rolls of 5+ were made, so while the forces of chaos took a beating they gave far better back.

This game would roughly equal a 7500 point game in 8th ed.

P.S. i forgot to bring some of my flying bases so a couple thunderhawks on my side had to fly on the ground.

On an Express Elevator to Hell!!

I've finished a terrain piece for Great Crusade-era Epic, an airfield. The idea is that its an objective in the game and components of it get swapped in and out depending on who has control of it (I got this idea from an old Command & Conquer PC game which had a similar concept). Control of the objective will confer some limited game bonus, such as an airstrike/barrage that can be brought in each turn.

A fair few photos so I have hidden behind spoiler tags
Spoiler:

The airport and runway under Imperial Control. Surface to Air missile vehicles defend against air attack and some Valkyrie crew get a briefing from a Legionnaire before commencing a sortie

However an Ork armoured column makes a surprise attack. They quickly overwhelm the defenders, and go about orkifying the base

Some poor mekanikin' has lead to an engine fire! One ork is making a run for it as he realises what is about to happen..

The World Eaters, knowing that the facility is too important to remain in enemy hands, launch a counter attack lead by an Armoured Land Raider company

The terrain is a mix of different bits with a few conversions.

The large hangers and control tower are from Blotz 6mm range (very reasonably priced MDF terrain Blotz Cityscape - I added a 40k Crozius Arcanium from a marine chaplain to the tower and added a few decals to make it more appropriate for the setting. The smaller green hangers and gun emplacements are small resin kits from ebay.
The runway itself is a Galeforce Nine Team Yankee modern roads set, with some extra markings to denote it as a runway (that game is 15mm so roads at that scale look just about right as a runway).
The miniatures are a mix of GW Aeronautica Imperialis for the Valkyries and Ork Bombers, classic GW for the Marine Land Raiders/Rhinos and Ork wagons. The infantry and other vehicles are most Vanguard Miniatures Novan and Skinner ranges.

Good stuff, Paz!

I like those types of objectives with small but tactile bonii during the game. When I wrote the scenario for our last year's Titanicus megabattle, we had half of the objectives on the table grant the players victory points and the other half gave them this kind of benefits (artillery base allowed bombarding, airfield allowed field supply, tank depot let you drive Fellblades around etc.). Livens up the table nicely.

On an Express Elevator to Hell!!

Thanks guys! I am trying to put together enough terrain for a big participation/expo game (I'm aiming for about 10k pts+ ) in October so still need to get a move on!

SherryPie - tank depot sounds like an interesting idea. Imagine having a dozen 'inactive' baneblades or fellblades sat there as a terrain piece (would you have to be one for 3D printing!)

I was just putting together some Ork Nobz stands, its really fun using a mix of different miniature ranges (and I think with Orks you can get away with it!) Got I think several editions of Epic in there (inc. some minis I painted about 30 years ago!) as well as some Vanguard Skinners range.

On an Express Elevator to Hell!!

The plan is Firestorm Games nr Cardiff at their new venue. Hopefully adverts for it will go up next month.
Myself and a couple of friends are running it, idea is people can come along and take control of sections of either army. Or even just have a look at the game & miniatures, I think there are a whole generation now that won't have known Epic as a game (but hopefully would be intrigued by it)

On an Express Elevator to Hell!!

I've finished up a unit - World Eater Field Police (Consul-Opsequiari)

Malika - I think I mentioned this on my B&C thread but thanks a lot for coming up with this idea!

These are from an old piece of RT-era lore which has been brought back into the modern 30k books. The official example of them is with the Space Wolves (basically a police unit to make sure they follow orders!) but I thought it fitted with the World Eaters during the tail-end of the Great Crusade too. In Epic Space Marine, I'm using these as 'counts as' Commissars (which you get free with Imperial Army companies, and don't really make sense in a 30k/Great Crusade setting), with a small extra rule that means you can use them to allow Marine units to automatically pass morale tests if you want to - with a chance that the marine unit might lose a squad in the process of 'reinforcing orders' or the Field Police unit itself might get destroyed!

Have finished off an Ork Goff clan. Probably one of the easier clans to paint as they are predominantly black! Have given them some battlewagons too, with some slightly more bazzed-up versions for the Nobz

Loving the MP's, Paz. I've always enjoyed such elements in the lore and have similar officers in my 28 mm force to keep recruits in line

On an Express Elevator to Hell!!

Thanks mate!

I'm hoping they will produce amusing scenarios in the game

Some final bits (for the time being) on the old World Eaters now. A few other elements to add but I will be pushing 10k of points (Epic Space Marine/Titan Legions) so really need to do some catch-up work with the Orks!

Firstly, a Shadowsword company. One of these I think had started to get lead rot (but they are so bloody expensive now I couldn't just throw it away ). I've done my best to treat it using some guidance I found online, but will wait and see if it starts to turn to Nurgle I guess!

Then a marine Devastator company. I like the idea of World Eaters shooting stuff, so enjoyed making and painting these! Got to use a few of the new Vanguard champion minis for the Command stand, which are really cool, very characterful.

On an Express Elevator to Hell!!

I have realised I've jumped up to almost 10k in pts (Space Marine/Titan Legions) for my Crusade-era Legion force and only about a third of that for Orks - whoops! So have got hold of some minis, including some classic GW and proxies for a Snakebite clan from Vanguard, and am finishing off others.

First up a pair of Snakebite Clan steam gargants. These are from a chap doing his own casts over on the Tactical Command forum

I've accessorised them with Vanguard miniatures - Gretchin crew, an Ork on lookout amongst other bits

Wasn't too sure about the steam effect, they are bits of cotton wool that are magnetised in place so can be removed if needed

A few additions to the bases, titan and gargant bases are a great opportunity for little dioramas I have found. An Imperial Army gun crew runs for it, while a biker boy carries out a highly dangerous manouever directly in front of the approaching Gargant

Been very slowly working my way through more of my ork backlog. A very huge mega sized bad moon big gun and a whole bunch of crew.

Just finishing up a batch of infantry, which includes rebasing a couple of my stands that had the old (horrid) sand basing.

Fantastic work RexHavoc! I have just painted those guys and can appreciate how small they are, that's a really neat job.

@Malika - the squiggoths are coming! I recently got some from a very helpful chap in the FB group - Im combining it with the Vanguard mighty Squiggoth, so it will be like mamma squiggoth being followed by its squiglets (or whatever young squiggoths are called!)

Yeap as above, they are mostly from vanguard (Though a plastic GW grot is in there too!)

Thanks! Yeah some of them are very detailed but so small!

Finished up some Bad Moon infantry today & rebased a couple of older stands with the new basing materials. I do need to add the snow and more tufts, but I'll rather do that in one huge batch when I've gotten through a lot more of the backlog!

My camera on my phone really hates photographing Epic, I'll have to fish my proper camera out soon or invest in something with a proper macro lens!

I achieved my first milestone in my epic armageddon project. I'm trying to build up forces for all the tutorial scenarios in the rule book. Here are the complete forces for scenario 1A, 6x4 tactical marines split up to a "red and blue" side, consisting of flesh tearers, excorcists, angels of porphyr and ultramarines.
