I was super happy about all the positive feedback I got on the combat patrol Sorry for not responding in such a long time, but I keep bouncing between different projects and trying to get stuff done, which takes time away from actually posting here and showing off what is already finished! However, now I’m back with pictures today, so hopefully I can make up for it

Before we take a look at said photos, I want to draw attention to Mr. Kilgore’s website once more. He recently posted another issue of his in-character reports by Inquisitor Varman Kumar on the Fighting Tigers of Veda. I really love what Kenton is doing with the fluff in this one, debunking persistent myths about the elusive female Fighting Tigers while still leaving some room for interpretation for those of us who are willing to read between the lines. Of course, I’m also super stoked and honoured that, once again, he used pictures of my miniatures to accompany his outstanding writing. I’m very excited for future updates on this series and hope he keeps it going.





Alright, so let’s get to the fun stuff! Today, I want to share with you my second completed squad of Devastator Marines:



In this pic you see the first half of the squad, containing some regular Marines, a Heavy Bolter gunner as well as the squad's Sergeant. Let’s take a closer look at him:



The Sergeant is a classic mini from 40k’s 2nd edition, albeit with some modifications. I gave him a Storm Bolter as a ranged weapon, which is another old part that I stole from one of the classic metal Captains in my collection. It’s a pretty hefty bit, so I had to add a washer underneath this Sergeant’s base to keep the heavy gun from constantly tipping over the mini. But hey, at least it looks cool.



The other noticeable alteration I made to the miniature was to add a sort of target designator, as I had on the Sergeant of my first Devastator squad. However, I did unfortunately not have the original backpack with this special attachment, so I had to improvise. My target designator was made from half a SM vehicle Storm Bolter if I remember correctly. I sculpted on a cowling and gave it an appropriate paintjob to sell the illusion. Next, let’s take a closer look at the Heavy Bolter gunner:



This guy is special in that he doesn’t use the regular Heavy Bolter variants you would usually find in SM or CSM kits. Instead, I improvised again to make use of some leftover bits I had lying around.



The keen-eyed among you may recognise this guy’s Bolter as part of an Astra Militarum heavy weapons kit. I had a pair of previously chopped-up Missile Launcher arms available, so I used those to attach the gun to the Model.



To make the model read more clearly as a Devastator, I added one of the large Backpacks from the old plastic Devastator kits, specifically the Plasma cannon pack I believe. Using green stuff, I also created a connection from the backpack to the gun to represent a sort of ammo feed for the Bolter.



Alright, moving on to the other half of the squad now:



This five-man combat squad goes very heavy on the Missile Launchers as you can see. Again, I use these weapons for a multitude of reasons: 1) They’re very iconic and a classic weapon for SM that has been around since the earliest days of the tabletop game 2) They’re cheap points-wise 3) They’re very versatile with their different ammo types 4) They’re pretty ubiquitous in the lore and represented as a simple, cheap and widely available heavy weapon in the lore, something that fits well with the situation of the Fighting Tigers in their knack of the woods.

Now, let’s take a look at the full squad set up together in one (recklessly crowded) blob:



Would surely make a juicy target for one of those large pie plate templates we used to have in the game, right? Oh well…

Hello again!

As promised, today I will continue showing off the remaining Marines you haven’t seen yet. There’s still a few left, but with today’s post, we will have officially caught up with my backlog. This means I don’t really have a lot of completed minis or pictures to post right away, so it might take me a while to bring you the next update. Could I possibly go any slower? Who knows, I guess we’ll have to find that out together

What follows is a random assortment of various Veterans and Specialists with unique loadouts that I converted, mostly just for fun. These might have come in handy for the older versions of Kill Team where you could designate certain models to be specialists, but now, I don’t really know what to do with them, except use them as non-WYSIWYG veterans. However, that’s the beauty of working on this collection: Simply letting my imagination run wild, coming up with new and interesting models and having fun converting and kitbashing to scratch that creative itch. Let’s get started:



First, we have this Veteran Marine with an Astartes Combat Shotgun. I always wanted to try out what a shotty would look like on a full-fledged Marine, and I gotta say I really like it. I know, I know, there’s an even cooler shotgun in the Deathwatch kit now, but I don’t have that one, so eh…



I think the shotgun works quite well with the scale of the mini. I also added a couple of shotgun shells to the Marine’s pauldron for a quick ammo top-up in the heat of combat.



Now some of you may be screaming “Hold on, if these are veterans, why don’t they have the tiger-striped greaves denoting their rank?”, and you would be absolutely justified. That is an issue I unfortunately only noticed after I had taken the pictures and dropped the minis off at my house, but it is true that they should, indeed, also have the decorated greaves. I will have to go in and fix that oversight on my part at a later date. For the time being, please ignore this blatant lore breach on this Marine and the others below



This Marine has legs from a 2nd ed pushfit mini btw. I was running out of legs, so I grabbed one that I could chop up and reuse for this Veteran.



These legs are cool because they come with a holstered sidearm on the right hip, which acts a nice addition to round out this veteran’s loadout. Alright, moving on to the second vet:



This is a gunfighter/pistolier in a dynamic running pose. I gave him two bolt pistols from the old SM scout kit.



Both the torso and the legs were taken from the old Khorne Berzerkers kit. I used the chestpiece with an ammo belt because I thought it would add some character to the miniature.



I shaved off the Khorne symbol on the belt buckle and added some pouches to complete the look. I really like how this guy’s run-and-gun pose turned out.



The arms on this guy came from an old SM vehicle kit. They’re just the arms that go on the pintle mounted Storm Bolter which I split in half and adapted to the pistols.



Again, this guy needs to get his greaves repainted at some point, which I’ll hopefully get around to soon. Okay, let’s move on to the third and final vet:



This Marine should read clearly as a Grenadier, and as such, he is an expert in all things that go BOOM. He is equipped with an assortment of different grenades all across his armour, and he also carries a grenade launcher for good measure.



This loadout is probably not legal in any ruleset, but again, I just wanted to experiment with different armaments, come up with some interesting and creative minis and have some fun building and converting in the process.



The Marine is also holding a grenade in his right hand and is getting ready to throw it at the enemy. In this regard, this vet was a golden opportunity to include some rarely used bits like that. Btw, the grenade belt on this mini originally came from the SM scout bikers kit, and the launcher is of course one of the classic Astra Militarum special weapons, as you surely guessed already.



To round out the model, I decked it out with pouches and explosives. I wanted to create the impression of a super-heavy trooper who lugs around tons of ammo and explosives. This is the go-to guy in your squad if you need something gone permanently. He also carries a melta bomb on his belt for heavy-duty demolition.



And that’s all the new models I’ve got so far. I’ve also finished 14 assault Marines and a White Tiger veteran, but I still haven’t taken any pictures of them yet. That will be something for a future post, so stay tuned for that

Now on to another project regarding the storage and display of my miniature collection. There’s a TV stand in my old room where I used to have a large TV set, but I took that to my new apartment. The space this freed up on the stand was soon occupied by my growing collection of Fighting Tigers, and this became their designated display stand for a long time. After completing the miniatures above, I added them to this growing collection. Here’s a full army shot of all the minis from this thread set up together (except the Primaris stuff, that was added after this picture had been taken):



It was around this time that I noticed my army of Fighting Tigers was starting to outgrow their allotted space on the cabinet. With so many models still in the pipeline, waiting to be added to my collection, I realized I had to come up with a solution to expand the display area.

Of course, I could always remove some or most of the terrain, and that would give me some more room to work with. However, the real issue was the large gap between the cabinet and the wall that I couldn’t close because the radiator was in the way. While the TV had been set up there, the gap hadn’t mattered, but with my minis now taking that spot, this ~5 inch hole was both a waste of space as well as a potential trap for models to fall into. Something had to be done.

The solution I eventually came up with was to create a display board that would both expand the available space as well as give the models a more appropriately coloured surface to stand on. After some quick measurements and planning, I went to my local home improvement store and bought the necessary materials.

I started out with a sheet of plywood and some boards. The way I built the display board was essentially the same as building a 40k gaming table. There’s a ton of articles out there describing just that, and they all pretty much follow the same, simple plan: Take one or more sheets of plywood, cut them to the appropriate size and then reinforce them with a wooden frame on the underside to keep the board from warping. I stuck to this simple recipe, but added a little cut-out at one of the corners of my display board which would later allow it to slide past the radiator, ensuring I could close the gap and maximize my display area. I made sure to countersink the screws, and later covered them up with some filler, giving me a nice, flat surface for painting.

The paintjob on this board was pretty simple. I tried to create a sort of faux grass effect on the surface to match the flocked, goblin green bases of my Space Marines. To do this, I first basecoated the entire surface with a nice, saturated but darker green. After the first layer had dried (a process thankfully expedited by the warm sun that day), I began adding texture and variation by stippling on a lighter lime green on top. This took a while, even with a large paintbrush, and I had to be somewhat careful to keep the coverage and pattern consistent across the entire surface. When I was done, the surface had already dried completely in the hot sun, so the board was almost ready to be installed. One final thing I added was painters’ tape, which I stuck around the entirety of the wooden frame. This solved multiple issues at once: It helped me hide some of the less clean cuts at the corners, masked some of the different hues of wood and it also concealed the areas where I had sloppily painted over the edges. Here’s the final result:



Now began the arduous task of moving all my models off the TV stand. In the picture below, you can see some of them on my desk, waiting to be returned to their proper place.



The display board sits nicely on the cabinet, with just enough room on both sides to let it fit in snugly.



I pushed it back against the wall, and I was very happy with the fit. Finally, I was able to make use of that extra space behind the cabinet! Plus, the minis were sure to look even better on a lush, green surface that matches their bases. After a couple of minutes, I had set up everything on the new board, and this is the stunning result:



I’m soo much happier with the new look. It’s a lot cleaner with the matching green surface, and it really allows the vibrant colours of the Tigers to shine.



For the time being, I was able to leave all of the terrain on the display. Once I’ve finished some of the bigger units such as the Landraiders, I might have to take some of it off, but for now, it works.






Keep in mind that the Primaris Marines I finished are still missing in these photos above. That’s because I was still working on them at that time, but had already realized that I would need more room for them. Luckily, I remembered to take a more up to date picture last time I was at my house, so now I can show you the full collection thus far (feel free to klick the picture below if you want to take a closer look in high resolution):

Thank you gobert! Actually, since I posted those pictures, I have added some units and have already had to remove one forest base to make room again! It’s crazy. This hobby does really take up quite a lot of space. Luckily, I’m the kind of guy who thinks 40k minis and terrain qualify as home décor, so I guess it’s ok
I was thinking of printing a wraparound background, too. Maybe at some point, but first I should probably focus on getting the mini collection done Also, glad you like the individual shots. I think seeing the models in some terrain really elevates the final product.





In a recent blog update on the state of the Jungle, Kenton Kilgore announced an important change to the lore of the Fighting Tigers. He stated that he will essentially be ditching the idea of “female Space Marines” in the FTOV, and treating them as non-canonical from this point on.



While the lore surrounding the female Tigers might remain ambiguous going forward, he declared that he will no longer be running these female White Tigers as Space Marines, instead opting to split his collection of miniatures into three separate factions. Two of those are regular, Firstborn Space Marines and the third, the White Tigers, will become Sisters of Battle by another name.
While I am kind of bummed about this sudden change after 25 years of them being an established part of the lore, I can understand Kenton no longer wants to deal with the hassle of all that owning an army of female Space Marines entails.
However, note that I will not change anything about the way I do things here in this thread, and that female Space marines will continue to be canon for my particular collection. I think the inclusion of female Space Marines represents an integral part of the lore of this chapter and helps create a sense of mystery and secretiveness that sets it apart from other homebrew chapters out there. It’s what makes the Tigers special and unique, and it is one of the very big, dark secrets of the chapter that set the tone for all the thrilling lore Kenton shared with us over the years. Taking that away would, in my mind, rip out the heart and soul of what the Tigers are, and fundamentally change everything we know about them. Therefore, I will not be adapting this lore change to my interpretation of this army. In this thread, you will continue to encounter female Space Marines. The reasons I have for this are not, as some of you might think, political, but rather the following: Firstly, my collection is already set up that way, and all the planning and building has been made with this established fact in mind. It would simply be too much work to alter my converted models to comply with this change in the lore. Secondly, as stated above, I think the variation of genders is what gives the Fighting Tigers their character. Removing it would make my collection a very confusing mess of differently painted units without any lore tying them together. Thirdly, erasing the existence of female Marines in the FTOV would also entirely remove the need to protect their secrets and fight for survival in the IOM, beset both from without AND within. These are my main reasons why I will be sticking with the old lore, and continue this thread as before.
I can fully understand if this change or my reaction to it make you less interested in this thread. Still, I hope that, keeping the points above in mind, my decision should be somewhat understandable and we can continue enjoying this project as we did before.





Alright, time to get to the juicy part of the update: the actual models! I’m happy to report that, since my last post, I have managed to get quite a few minis done. I’ve also bought and even painted a new vehicle which I will be showing off in a future update. Today, however, we will be looking at some previously mentioned Assault Marines and a Veteran Marine with a unique loadout.

Let’s start with the Tigers of Kali:



This is the third squad of Assault Marines in my army (with jump packs, I also have 1 squad without). Since I assembled these squads from used models off of ebay, and did them in 2 batches of about 15 minis, this is a bit of a mix and match of loadouts. There’s probably far too many plasma pistols in there for my entire army. Also, there’s two sergeants in there, as I realized the beginning of my 2nd squad was still lacking one. Let’s take a closer look at the sergeants:



First one comes equipped with a power fist and a powersword. Not really sure if that’s useful, I just thought it looked cool



I started doing these Tiger paw symbols on my sergeants whenever possible, as I think they look pretty awesome. However, they sorta require the pauldrons with the big round emblem on them (I think they were supposed to be used for Imperial fists?), so I don’t always get the chance.



The bases were weighed down with metal to keep the Tigers of Kali from tipping over constantly. Above, you can see the quick gradient on the sword which was achieved by a few quick layers of drybrushing. Moving on to the second sergeant:



I tried to do a dynamic pose with this one again. I hope I could get across my vision of her being in the middle of throwing a big punch. This mini features a Mk. III chest plate, a Mk. VI helmet and an older style of bolt pistol.



If you look closel, you might be able to tell that I nabbed the set of legs from an old Khorne Berzerker. Funny how a paintjob can completely alter the look of a miniature or a part.



Next, we have a few regular Marines armed with simple bolt pistols. I also used some of my female ranger heads in this squad once again.





Then, there’s the aforementioned overabundance of plasma pistols in this squad.



I’ll have to line up all my Assault Marines at some point and count all the weapon options to see how many I have, but I’m pretty sure I’m short on regular bolt pistols and have quite a bit too many special weapons. Still, seeing how I probably won’t ever get to run all three squads at once, I should probably be fine with what I have.

Speaking of special weapons: I also added some flamers to this batch of Marines. More than enough to go around, I assume:



I made sure to give all these Marines an extra CCW. Just a simple combat knife, but I felt they would probably want something to defend themselves with once the real fighting starts:



I also want to draw attention to this Assault Marine which I converted to have a more interesting pose. This Tiger of Kali is in the process of landing and about to ram her combat knife into the cranium of some unfortunate heretic or xeno scum:

Next, we’re gonna take a look at a special character for the Tigers once again. In my quest to create a distinct and visually interesting army with clear inspirations from Vedic/Indian culture, I decided to
attempt another conversion of a traditional, historical indian close combat weapon - the "Patta”:



The Patta, Pata, Dandpatta or gauntlet-sword is a blade weapon from the indian subcontinent which has been in use since the medieval times. Its distinguishing feature is the unique way in which the weapon is held by the user. Instead of the regular assembly of a grip with guard and pommel, the blade of the Patta is directly attached to a gauntlet with an internal crossbar that acts as the actual handle.



The gauntlet has an elongated cuff, so the blade essentially becomes an extension of the wielder’s forearm allowing for powerful strikes. Here you can see Matt from Schola Gladiatoria wielding a Patta:



Various types of Patta also make an appearance in the game Elden Ring. Seeing as this is a pretty cool, unique and distinctly indian weapon, I decided it would be great for one of the veterans in my army. I had a rather perfect blade from a 30k bit left over, so I started converting right away. Here’s what I ended up with:



This veteran (I still have to come up with a name for her) also comes equipped with a shield which could be counted as a storm shield if necessary. Another great use for this mini might be as a Company Champion IMO, but of course, it could also just be any leader like a Lieutenant or Captain.



I added a slight glow around the powered blade, as well as a gradient along its surface, both with simple drybrushing.







Here’s a closer look at the shield, which I had to decorate with some freehand detail because I’d had to file off all the details (it used to be a chaos barbarian shield):

Pretty happy with how this mini turned out. It’s certainly different and unique, and I learned that I really like this classic historical weapon.

Finally, let’s take a look at some shots in terrain:

Mate. Always always a pleasure seeing updates on your threads. I apologise for being so infrequent at commenting. I love that First Born feature so strongly, and the kitbashing and strong colour schemes really make these miniatures.

That latest Patta wielding figure is awesome, and I love the wee history lesson behind it too.

I've actually picked up a small force of First Born recently... I intend to recreate my old Brazen Guard Marines in smaller numbers from the old army I naively sold years ago.

It’s a shame the OG has decided to drop the females from his Tigers, but I’m glad you’ve kept them. It’s a really unique twist and cool that the colours differentiate them.

The latest additions are great, the Patta in particular adds a cool weapon to the arsenal. The Jump Marines are super cool, and you’ve certainly got plenty of options now!

There’s some cool minis still to come in the list too. Do you have all of them, just waiting their turn in the pile of shame?

I love your PnM blogs, and honestly I appreciate the reasoning. I like how you could have just as easily said something like 'If you don't like them than LEAVE SEXIST SCUM!!' or 'women don't belong as space marines!!' but you gave clear, concise explanation as to why you kept them in. Already I feel this blog is the only good implementation I've seen of FSM into a space marine army, done because it's cool and interesting to the force, and it adds mystery and makes the force more compelling, instead of half-hearted attempts to empower or piss off people or whatever. Tangent aside, keep up the good work! The lore is interesting, and I like how your Tigers are distinctly your own, even if the idea of the force was not yours originally. I am excited to see what comes next

I'd be perfectly happy if you decided to keep ladies in the ranks for political reasons, TBH.

It's a cool piece of flavour, which makes the chapter stand out. But also it gives room for other people who might want to start their own army and include ladies.

At the end of the day it's a creative hobby and I think we can encourage people from accessing it any way they want. The IoM is big enough, and is already shot through with so much contradictory, secret lore that you could reasonably make a Space Marine force out of anything.

More power to ya, and more power to this project!

Hey there! Did you miss me? Contrary to what some of you may have assumed, I am not dead. Sorry for the long time without an update. My absence does not mean I was entirely unproductive however. I did get quite some hobbying done in the meantime, like finish painting my box of classic Heroquest. I have also been working on stuff for Heavy Gear Blitz, the Fighting Tigers etc. I also bought one of those cool Killteam starter sets which contains a Plague Marine team and a Justian/Angels of Death Killteam, along with prepainted terrain and other good stuff, and I’m currently in the process of painting that up as well.

But of course, you came here for some more finished Tigers of Veda, and that’s what you shall receive. Before we get to the actual update though, I wanna thank you all for your numerous responses on my last post! I really appreciate all the input, and I’m sorry I only got around to responding now!

I've actually picked up a small force of First Born recently... I intend to recreate my old Brazen Guard Marines in smaller numbers from the old army I naively sold years ago.

Ragsta my friend, do not worry about it at all! We all have rather busy lives, and I can certainly relate to not always finding time to comment on stuff I like! I definitely appreciate all of your input and kind words, so please do not stress about it! I’m super happy to hear you liked the Patta mini with the attached lore. Indian melee weapons are a very interesting rabbit hole to go down, as there are so many absurd and cool designs out there I’ve never even heard of or thought possible. Definitely worth checking out, and it’s perfect to explore in a 40k army as it gives me lots of opportunities to convert crazy stuff and turn it into a cool pseudo-scifi contraption.

Also, cool that you got some more Firstborn. They are the true OGs, and I’m excited to see what you will do with them

Thank you very much for your kind words gobert! And yeah, I think so too! There’s just something cool about a chapter split neatly down the middle (although I think I would have to get some more girls in there for that), almost like the villain Two-Face from batman The two halves are very different, but they work together and help balance out each other’s weaknesses. Quite a clever concept, and I’m surprised Kenton is dropping it, but I guess he’s probably looking for a change after ~20 years of the same.

Regarding the To-Do list, yes, this is basically my pile of shame which I have to complete to truly be able to call this collection “done” (if such a thing even exists for 40k). More on that below

Regarding the inclusion of women in the army, that’s exactly what I’m thinking. I like it when it’s done well, as it was in the case of Kenton’s Fighting Tigers, with believable supporting lore and a distinct reason to be there. If it’s just in there to spite someone else, it’s a bit lame.
Also thanks for the compliment on the lore. I don’t consider myself a lore expert and it’s certainly not my strong suit in this hobby, but I’m happy if people think it’s passable. That’s a big reason why I picked this army, as it allows me to use Mr. Kilgore’s writing talent as sort of a jumping-off point for my own (admittedly less well thought out) ideas.
I also enjoy learning about history and indian culture & warfare as I work on this army, so that’s another plus in my book

Very good point Tek, and I think that’s probably what Kenton was going for with his army. The Imperium of Man is vast and there’s so many uncharted planets out that that whatever you come up with could potentially be happening somewhere out there in the galaxy. And as you correctly pointed out, this is a creative hobby, and the individual ideas people come up with are what make it exciting in my opinion. You perfectly embody this principle with your fantastic Death Guard blog, where each model is converted/kitbashed, and every single miniature is loaded with character

Alright then, without further ado, let’s get to the pictures!

First off, here’s another Rhino I completed:



Pretty standard stuff, just one of the regular RT-era Rhinos to provide my Tactical Squads with some more manoeuverability. As usual, I had to repair/replace the broken exhaust pipes with shorter, sturdier versions to match the other Rhinos in my force and hopefully prevent further damage. Also, I had to replace the missing boltguns on the hatches with the newer Godwyn-pattern.





Final shot in some terrain:



Maybe you remember me mentioning another vehicle in one of my previous posts. A while ago, I bought a Predator tank to round out my force and add some much-needed heavy support (so far, the Tigers are still a very infantry-heavy army… at least until I finally get around to painting my two Landraiders! ). It is a 30k version of a Predator, both to better match my own vehicles in the army, but also to better fit in with the RT style of the OG Fighting Tigers by Mr. Kilgore. I blasted through building and painting this beast of a tank, but now it’s finally time to show off the end result:



I’m very happy with how this tank turned out. There’s no denying that the 30k Predator kit comes packed with a ton of detail which makes the finished product very interesting to look at. The rounded turret is just such a beautiful look for the Predator IMO, and also kind of makes more sense from a construction standpoint as it gets rid of the shot trap there. As you can probably tell, I added a small, round Tiger paw emblem to the front (something that I’ve started doing recently to add a more cohesive feel to my army).



A closer look at the side sponsons. I built these with lascannons, and they are still moveable in all directions. The complicated nature of the assembly has, however, unfortunately prevented me from making the sponsons modular, so if I want to be able to switch to the Heavy Bolters, I’ll either have to buy a second kit or find something suitable second hand.



The tank also features a large tiger paw emblem on the rear hatch, to keep it from getting shot in the back by friendly fire Also, I think it looks cool, plus it gives me an excuse to practise my freehand painting



Something that bothers me about the moving parts on a model is that this usually leads to paint rubbing off in certain spots, such as the sponson ring mount. I’m not sure what I’m supposed to be doing here. Am I doing something wrong, or is this just something that everybody has to deal with and accept with their poseable miniatures? I’d really appreciate your input in this regard, not least because I was recently gifted a 40k “artist-proof”, paintable action figure, and I’m worried this will turn out badly unless I do everything correctly.



This shot shows off the poseability of the main gun and sponsons. Below is a little detail shot of the turret cupola with the little viewports:



In the following image, you can see the Predator tank next to its smaller cousin.



This picture nicely illustrates the design similarities between the old rogue trader kit and the wonderful, modernized 30k kit. I like that they took many of the original design cues and skilfully ported them to the new model, allowing these two vehicles from distinctly different time periods to not look out of place when set up next to each other on the gaming table. Details like the low headlights, the round hatches, the hedgerow cutters, the tank tracks and the exposed, perforated exhaust pipes beautifully tie these two models together as part of the same range, despite the long time separating their releases.



While the sponsons on the Predator tank are not customizable in this case, I did manage to magnetize the turret’s main gun. Below, you can see the predator with the Autocannon as main armament:

There’s still one last thing left to show you today. Those of you who occasionally check out my To-Do list may have seen mention of a Librarian with Glaive I’ve been working on. Well, here he is:



This Tiger of Brihaspati (the name given to Librarians by the Fighting Tigers) could be used as a representation of Zaghnal Maratha, one of Kenton’s original Librarians for his army:



While his original model used a force axe, I think it is not unusual for Space Marines to occasionally switch to a different loadout if the situation demands it. In fact, I think I’ll just use my Terminator Librarian to also represent this character, and just switch the models around as needed, as I’m sure Zaghnal, being the most powerful of the chapters Librarians, would also gain access to Terminator armor. Yeah, I think that’s a good solution to the Librarian identity dilemma I’ve been facing.



Anyway, here’s some more pictures:



I gave this model a blue cloak to get that wizard/libarian feel while still being able to keep the original Tiger armor paintjob. Zaghnal carries a bolt pistol as a sidearm, holstered on his belt.



The cloak is just a quick job of highlighting and blending, but I’m satisfied with the result.



Normally, Assault Marines would be part of the Mahaduyanan half of the chapter, the “White Tigresses” if you will. Librarians, being high-ranking Tanadars, however, get a bit more freedom choosing their equipment. Thus, this is one of the few models with a jump pack that also features the orange patterns specific to the male Tigers.



Above you see a slightly better shot of the Force Glaive Zaghnal is equipped with. As the experts among you can probably tell, this is just a modified Grey Knight Nemesis force Glaive with a slightly different paintjob. This picture does unfortunately not show off the gradient on the blade very well, so you’ll just have to trust me when I say it is a little more striking in person than this shot would lead you to believe. Sorry for my bad photography skills in this regard

Just a quick summary of my thoughts on the Librarians:

Great update Feisty! The Rhino and Predator look fantastic in their tiger stripes. I was convinced that the 30k Predator was a kitbash of the latest kit and the RT one when I first saw the pic. The paw print emblems look really clean, great freehanding. The Librarians look great as well, their blue cloaks certainly give them a presence

I thought the Paw emblem was a 3d piece at first- lovely freehand work mate! Those vehicles look solid, and I agree that the Predator design aesthetic is really nice for some old school nostalgia.
Your To Do list is dwindling significantly- look slike you'll have to start a Guard Regiment next eh!!
