Oh, I've never looked at that model before. Yeah, for sure it's like the appendage on the left....done deal.

Man, we really might be seeing a chaos vs eldar boxset. That would be awesome.

Huh. The GW newsletter title is "A Classic Boxed Set for Pre-order", but I guess GW would call everything they put out "Classic", even if it's brand new? Weird.

All of the "Chaos bling". Iron Warriors are more "practical" and prefer bionics (servo arms, not tentacles). Alpha Legion are going to have a hard time infiltrating anything with horns and mutations popping out everywhere. And Night Lords generally avoid Chaos worship, and wouldn't be covered in Chaos sigils.

Official Iron Warriors artwork:

Spoiler:

Nary a bionic limb or a servo arm in sight... but one of them does have mechandendrites. - yknow those tentacles that you claim they don't like to use. To be fair I did find a couple images with servo arms or bionics - including one that had both mechadendrites and a servo arm (though I wasn't entirely sure it was official artwork) but there were a lot fewer of those than the ones without.

Official Alpha Legion artwork:

Spoiler:

Seems like a lot of horns and mutations for a group that supposedly doesn't have them. Mutations certainly don't seem to stop GSC from infiltrating worlds, so I can't imagine why it would be an issue for Alpha Legion - especially considering the fluff is clear that the Alpha Legion uses surgical and warp/psyker-enhanced techniques to take on the appearance of those who they are attempting to infiltrate, as well as to use psychic mind-screwery to cloud the minds of those they encountered so that they don't notice the things that would mark them as being an Alpha Legionnaire (or, for that matter - a space marine. Several examples in the fluff of Alpha Legionnaires blending in with civilians unnoticed). The Alpha Legion also uses non-astartes infiltrators and cells to assist with this stuff - for that you have chaos cultists.

Official Night Lords artwork:

Spoiler:

Huh. Look at that. Covered in chaos sigils.

Your interpretation of these things is a flanderization of their characteristics, along the same lines of how fans for a while seemed to assume that the entirety of the White Scars chapter road around on bikes (and based on a conversation I had at the local shop earlier this week - many still seem to think that), despite the fluff never actually stating that and in actuality demonstrating White Scars operating on foot on numerous occasions in novels and other sources, etc. Insofar as the official depictions of them are the definitive portrayal of how these organizations look and operate, your assessment would be incorrect.

I'm not sure if it's worth the risk. The old models finecast, so all those mechadendrites are always so fiddly and warped

Yeah, it's the Warpsmith's meltagun mechadendrite. The distinctive vents are painted with a glowing effect which makes them less obvious against the silver barrel/muzzle than the usual black vents would be. The one on the 13th was the flamer mechadendrite, with a similar nozzle to the Heldrake's baleflamer and the Helbrute's fist-mounted heavy flamer.

Sadly, it seems like GW already took it off their online store, unless there's some bug involved.

Mhmm, seems to have a belt feed like Pedro Kantor's Storm Bolter? The thing between cloak and hand.

Kantor's existing loadout is a Power fist and a(relic) Storm bolter though? Changing that for a Chainsword would be odd.

Gonna go leftfield and say Gabriel Seth.

That chainsword looks like it's meant to be held with both hands. The current model has a cape and bigass iron halo like bladeguard. Shoulder pad ridges at the top look similar to BA/DA icons at that angle.

Only reason I mentioned Kantor is that the Crimson Fists are supposed to be one of those "ALMOST GONE FOREVERS!11!!" Chapters, and him getting Primaris'd would be a good excuse to add/consolidate some stuff on his profile.

Shrike, for example, kept his dual LCs and gained a pistol as well. Kantor having Dorn's Arrow combined with a Powerfist and then having a chainsword as well would be in line with that.

The belt feed to the gun arm is the same as the assault gauntlet on the first primaris gravis Captain from 8th in the launch box. I reckon it might just be a generic Gravis Captain with assault gauntlet or whatever it’s called.

The "who he's leading" is pretty interesting. I thought it was HH, but it looks gravis and the leaked terminator captains don't have chainswords.

Part of me thinks it could be Titus, though I don't see a chain on his wrist, plus if we play as him as an intercessor, not sure why they wouldn't model him like that. Unless of course he gets a promotion at the end of the game and this is a spoiler.

Could it be for the Tomekeepers? They keep giving out transfers. Maybe this is a limited run model for their chapter master

Personally I hope it's a new Primaris Captain so that this set of equipment rules can be even more convoluted.

"The Primaris Captain can exchange all his weapons for a Power Fist & Chainsword, unless they're a <Dark Angel> (or a successor), in which case they have some random version of a Bolter rather than a Chainsword..."

Looking at the silhouette, he might be in gravis armor. So he’ll have a brand new dataslate, which will be exactly the same as the one with the MC powersword/boltstorm guantlet, but instead of the power sword he’ll have a chainsword.

No confusion, just more needless bloat.

Or he could be a re-do of a named character? Although who is escaping me. Not a lot of chainswords in the upper ranks.

My guess is, it's from the next batch of space marine heroes.

Not much else makes sense and the load out is just a little weird.

If it's primaris, I'm fairly confident from the shoulder and by the head it is gravis, but we will see.

Alternatively it is just the next ltd edition anniversary or spend £100 etc model.

40k version of Lion’el Johnson. Not wearing the lion helm as that s being carried by the chapter master. His 30K sculpt comes with either the power sword or two handed chainsword option. Has a Iron halo similarish to his 30k version.

It would be a good time to bring back another Primarch.
Even with all the imperium has been throwing out there (new weapons and new marines) they are still faultering. Chaos is knocking at the Imperial door and G-man could go wake his brother up from his nap on the Rock. Hints of “The Dark” and the quote I can’t be bothered to look up right now about needing to fail before being able to rise could be talking about his chapter failing before it returns to honor and glory.

Besides, is GW going to actually allow Eldar to get the spotlight for long? And since they are showing off chaos, who better to have return than a chaos primarch .
