I found it kind of meh. Parker is a bit by the numbers, but Joe leaves a really good impression. Unfortunately that doesn't do me much good because I really dislike the protagonist. Also...
Spoiler:
...the whole business where the suit is both super expensive and thrown together from junk found in the scrapyard just doesn't go together. Plus the complete absence of any investigation into the suit wearing criminal by the authorities. The whole things feels jarring.
Nehekhara lives! Sort of!
Why is the rum always gone?
I think the ending helps somewhat redeem the show. It was enjoyable enough, but mainly in spite of the main character, for all the reasons already mentioned. Parker's gang are entertaining and interesting without being written as in any way "the good guys". Zeke has a better character arc than Riri and Parker himself is well written. It's just Riri that annoys me, which is a problem when she's the main character.
Spoiler:
At least the decision at the end (assuming she did actually make the deal, as implied) is in-character. It's stupid after she witnesses what happens to Parker but it conforms exactly to what Zeke said to her when she visited him in prison. It's ultimately a selfish decision. That's fine, because it's not really a surprise looking back at her arc during the 6 episodes. The problem still remains that she's an unlikable main character and the show never really owns up to the fact that her "predicament" is both illogical and entirely self-inflicted. All the "woe is me" bullgak doesn't really work if you take 5 seconds to stop and think about what she's capable of but it has to happen to put her where the plot needs her to be. It's just lazy writing.
Still, it's laziness that can be corrected in a potential second season. If there is one, I hope they go all in on the fact that Riri is not a good person and don't try to redeem her. Also, here's hoping they don't try to play more into the "!woe is me" side of her deal with Mephisto since, y'know, she knew what she was getting into there.

That is a really good point.
Spoiler:
You would think the police who can trace a piece of exotic biotechnology overnight would be able to locate the very obvious flying suit, that was also clearly involved in the crimes. Or, for that matter, the dude running around in a hood who keeps wounding people at these heists
There are many hits to verisimilitude.

Orkeosaurus, on homophobia, the nature of homosexuality, and the greatness of George Takei.
English doesn't borrow from other languages. It follows them down dark alleyways and mugs them for loose grammar.
Ultimately while I don't like Riri, she's not boring.
Boring is the worst thing anything in a story can be. If nothing else, I find she is an interesting point of discussion about character and narrative etc etc, which might only appeal to me specifically but ultimately Ironheart sets up a situation more than it tries to resolve anything. But who knows if/when we'll ever get a resolution to the characters and their circumstances.
To the decision at the end;
Spoiler:
She definitely took the deal. You can see the curse lines on her, so the whole sequence was pulling a bit of a flashforward fake out on the audience
Ultimately, it's some of the framing around the show that lets it down. If the show had just bothered to ground Riri's turn to criminality, I think most of my issues with her would be resolved. If the show bothered to be realistic about the financial angle, most of my issues would be resolved. It's really just the frame around the show and how streets of Chicago always seem to be conveniently empty. I was in Chicago recently. The streets in parts can be pretty empty but not totally empty. The core of the show I think is actually pretty smart in trying to slap a mess in front of you ans asking you to think something about it, but then the plate around the meal is just full of cracks and distracting.
I was disappointed that the Iron Hearts (and their Primarch Rubinek)
never show up in this series... Nor do they even use any of the information from Simon Jowett's short story: Hell in a Bottle.
I really expected more from the publishers of the Warhammer 40k comic.

And it’s now up for viewing.
Need to nip the pharmacist, see if I get something for this sodding ear infection (always clean your earbuds folks. Don’t be a filth wizard) then I’ll stick it on.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Animation feels very Disney. Whether that’s a good or bad thing I guess is down to who’s watching.
But we do get on-screen deaths, so it’s not A Disney Nicey.
Nice to see some historical stuff in there too, helping Wakanda feel like it’s been around as long as it has.
Of particular appreciation, the art for the Wakandans marches African art.

That might be worse than an announcement informing us there will be an announcement, if only because it's so silly that they will have to announce an announcement now.
We've taken something that already stupidly had extra steps and given it an extra step.
Here's the rest of the previous (new suit) teaser...

Eyes of Wakanda was pretty good. Predicted the curse in the third episode. Caught a Watcher cameo in the fourth. Wonder if he was in the others as well and I missed it. It’s only four 30 minute, barely interconnected episodes, I recommend checking it out.

I guess it is confirmed that Scorpion will be in the new Spider-Man alongside Hulk and the Punisher.
It's Secret Wars. I personally put my money on Wanda in the Molecule Man role, but I'm sure someone is hankering to do the "To me, my Galactus!" moment.
I just finally got around to the new Cap movie. Honestly, if the trailers had not spoiled the big reveal, it was decent. However, since everyone knew the big set-piece from the trailers it was a bit of a slog.
The tone was right for a Cap movie, since it focused on the question, "What is the right thing to do?" and was relatively a more grounded political/espionage thriller for most of the run time.
It was honestly better than I expected BUT still shows that Marvel is still finding their footing with the new heroes. The whole thing seems less planned out than the earlier phases.
That said, there is some unintended political commentary and I could see some people calling this Captain: Woke America for a few reasons. Perhaps the biggest being that Sam drives an electric F-150 Lightning!
However, there is an element of the President being the villain, how do you deal with past transgressions, and what does reconciliation look like? However, none of them are really developed in a meaningful way and the whole thing comes out bit mealy-mouthed and half-baked in the sub-text and context department.
Still, it was a lot better than I expected going in. However, it was a big let down from previous Cap movies.

That’s been mostly my commentary on it as well, a pretty decent movie if not for the ending being spoiled by trailers, which is a large part because of how delayed the movie ended up and not being able to keep that cat in the bag so long.
Yup. I get the feeling it was pretty devoid of action originally which is what they delayed it for, but honestly, I don't feel like any of the additional action sequences added anything, and it suffers massively from not being timely.
