Not really no and honestly he doesn't need it. He's got countless Skaven who worship him and have done for generations. So the Great Horned Rat has no need to sully himself by reaching out to mankind or aelves.

The Horned Rat had human worshipers in the Old World, would make sense that trend continued in the new ones.

Aye, but it was always a lesser thing. It's the kind of thing we might see in an underworld warband or perhaps a Warcry warband, but not something I'd expect to see mainstream. It's the "1 in a billion" chaos worshippers angle in that yes it happens, but most aren't going to follow the Great Horned Rat.

Also I'd argue that Skaven are much more powerful than they were in the Old World and much more overt in their actions. They don't need humans to help them sneak around Nuln any more

These days though, they're able to align with chaos warriors. Nurgle followers and Plague monks get on decently enough. Plus, you underestimate the use of expandable human chaff. Why use skaven slaves when you have a bunch of humans to use?

True - although they do still act in the same way in the cities of Sigmar and other gods so fostering a cult of humans (or other creatures) makes sense - especially since they are nothing more than fodder in the end - Skaven do enjoy lording it over others as well. The Mortal Realms is so vast that it will crop up but as you say are not common.

I think there is a short story where there is some human followers but might be misremembering.

The old model still looks good; You could always buy the metal version off Ebay once it's cheap and give him an extremely large, Golden Demon Diorama-esque base.

this.

Also, i would've quite liked his bigger and more draconic looks but there comes a point with GW charachters and centerpieces that just starts to hurt the hobby money account too much to bother with.
Especially since i'd chopped him up.

Almost certainly one of the Warzone Charadon books. Probably book 2 or 3.

Its where 'theme armies' and 'codex supplement' rules are going this year.

Be'lakor has some decent survivability, even if he can't hide anymore.

I really hope the Greater Daemons also get something like that when the new Daemon book roles round.

Spesh as anything he gets into HTH with is gonna have a really, really rough time. -1 to hit and no re-rolls is grim enough, but ignoring Invulnerable saves with a minimum of 4 damage is.....really really nasty! And that’s before we learn what his psychic discipline might bring to the table, or other wombocombo shenanigans and interactions with other stuff.

To me this suggests that Codex: Daemons is quite a bit further away than I had hoped. Having Be'lakors rules in a supplement only makes sense if the codex comes much later.

As belakor is like the 45th character whose deal is that he's the biggest strongest guy who's the best at fighting and has a really great sword made of just the best sharpest stuff, I'm only kind of passingly familiar with him from 7th ed as 'that gray dude who always gets Invisibility."

Is he actually a big enough deal to be able to basically whack any other character in the game in melee? Or is this just blatant "buy the new model" rules?

Be'lakor is, for the TLDR version, the original Daemon Prince. He was the first Mortal champion of Chaos ascended.
In WHFB/AOS, he's the reason that Archaon is the Everchosen.

Ok..So in terms of 40k, where does generic gray skull demon fellow fit in to the general hierarchy of "biggest strongest boys with the best coolest swords"?

-Avatar of Khaine

-Abbadon
-Nightbringer Skelton
-Guilliman
-Mortarion now that he's a big strong demon boy
-Emperoni
-Horace Heresy
-I dunno, Khorne I guess?

Where we putting The Gray Man in that general fluff hierarchy?

Bel'Akor is a great character in miniature, design, and fluff, and very old, from fantasy. In 40k he has always been an aftertought.

I really like the new look of him. It doesn't have that royal knight/kkk look of the old models while saying redemptionist at the same time. The fact that they can be separate from Cawdor is a nice bonus.

The whole conical hood thing wasn’t exactly a defining feature in the first place.

If we look at Stuff Of Legends, a most excellent resource?

A total of three models from the entire range. That’s it. And of those, only two don’t have alternatives for their role within the gang.
