For example, just off the top of my head, instead of a tacticool Predator clone, why not an armored pulpit on wheels with a preacher on top who calls down the Emperor's wrath on the enemy, then blasts them to kingdom come with holy hand grenade launchers?
They already had an alternative to the tacticool warsuits, so I would have used those resources to do something else cool and gothic - maybe bikes ridden by Hell's Angels inspired biker gangs, except that their tattoos and iconography are of the Emperor and the Imperial Eagle instead. Call them Brides of the Emperor or something like that. Fiercely devoted to the Emperor and the Imperial cause, unorthodox in their methods and therefore distrusted by the powers that be, but grudgingly tolerated because of their usefulness and because their parallel hierarchy based on sisterhood and loyalty to the other members of the gang makes them a good place to put Sisters who don't respond well to the normal discipline system.
This is just me tossing random ideas at a wall, I'm sure professionals with time on their hands could come up with cooler stuff along the same lines.
Yeah, I agree. Nundam suits don't really fit the aesthetic of the faction, not when they already have a really unique and flavorful walker also.
I think the Melee sisters are fine, but the rest is all pretty disappointing.
How lean into the Ecclesiarchy angle a bit and do some Frateris Milita? A bunch of crazy zealots with garbage equipment that are absolutely fanatical (something like the new Cawdor miniatures would be awesome).
Or lean into the association with Ordo Hereticus and do some Inquisitorial Stormtroopers and options for a Hereticus Witch hunter or something.
Also just throwing ideas out from the establish fluff, but I imagine cooler stuff could be came up with.

Yeah I just cannot begin to imagine what they were thinking when they thought that adding that tank to the Sisters was a good idea.
A wealth of fancy and esoteric designs - Penitent Engines and Exorcists and flying pulpit ladies - and they give us a Predator with a battlecannon. I mean... what???

I think you're undercounting here a little - probably on the AOS side of things - especially if you just count things which've been officially previewed.
By my reckoning the following models are new model previews, and then we've got Charandon II as a book on top of that:
AOS: Kragnos, Lauka Vai*, Vengorian Lord, Radukar the Beast, Belladamma Volga, Dire Wolves (6)
40K: Belladamma Volga, Agathae Dolan (2)
* - As the White Dwarf with her in hasn't been released yet, I'm not counting her as having been previewed
OK, eight isn't much better than four, but it is better

I wonder if they have a glut of things that arent ready to preview yet because the release schedule continues to be mucked up. If Saturdays reveal is a new edition of AoS it cant be optimal to have it previewed at the same time the last broken realms book is being previewed. No one liked when that also more or less happened during the last phase of PA books from what I recall.
They certainly wouldn't want to preview anything much beyond it. Maybe its the same for 40k. the new book and the next book are being shown and they dont want to reveal anything beyond it.
Maybe because they are keeping it all within the next three months of releases.

It's a mixed bag. I honestly think the latter half of the reveals will be better than the first half.
Like, assuming they actually reveal the Idoneth Deepkin Underworlds warband, that'll be 4-5 models, which is half of what they've already revealed.
The reaction of chat on Twitch is great. Very much speaks volumes when you wrap up the stream at 30 minutes and the chat is spammed with "Wait, that's it?"
I can see both sides of it. On the one hand, I can see that they're really trying to release things as fast as they can with the limitations of the current global distribution issues. They also need to release things in certain order so as not to spoil other releases (for example, releasing Cursed City before Soulblight, and Soulblight before AoS 3.0, and Be'lakor before Charadon 2).
That said, it also feels so painfully *forced*, that they're pushing things out that might be good for their wallets, but not necessarily good for the health of the games that they're trying to support.
40k is going to be a year old, and we've gotten Space Marines (all 50 flavors of them), Death Guard, and Drukhari, and maybe Admech and Sisters if we're lucky, before the 1 year mark.
For all the books that GW is trying to push into our hands between Vigilus, Psychic Awakening, and now Charadon, they're not giving us the books we *want* or *need*.
I truly hope Charadon is a flop. I hope it's a huge flop. I hope those books sit on the shelves in inventory taking up space for years, because that would communicate beautifully that we are DONE with this. Not every 40k fanboy wants to have a library of books that they might use once or twice in the lifetime of the book.
Now, obviously every fan of a faction hopes to get new models, but there are books they could push out rapid-fire that could at least get some factions playable that we just don't expect models for. Imperial Knights, Chaos Knights, Genestealer Cults, get those on out there, no need to hold back.
I don't know. It just feels for all the hype of Warhammer Fest that everything they've shown so far could have been two or three normal articles.
In fact, why did they even bother with the Battle Sister Bulletin? People would have actually been more impressed by holding those reveals back. Imagine if the Castigator, banner, celestians, AND the high lord were revealed today? People would be losing their minds! Instead of saying "Ugh, why show us stuff we've already seen?" it would be "HOLY SMOKES 4 NEW KITS!" Automatically Appended Next Post: Carlovonsexron wrote:I wonder if they have a glut of things that arent ready to preview yet because the release schedule continues to be mucked up. Honestly, the more I think about it, the more I doubt that Saturday is AoS 3.0. We are all expecting it, but if they reveal 3rd edition when we know that Soulblight is going to be a '2nd edition' battletome, and they reveal two factions in the starter (new stormcast and whatever they're fighting), then it'll bite right into the money they'd make on Vampires because many people (not all, but many) will save their money for what's coming instead.
In other words, they won't reveal AoS 3.0 yet because it'll cannibalize sales of Broken Realms and Soulblight Gravelords.
That, at least, gives me some modicum of hope.
Of course, the Mystery on Saturday could just be another space marine lt.

Then again that would then mean no new models whatsoever except with new codexes. So admech would still be waiting for dogs, transport, tank, the flyers etc.

Good. Who wants to have multiple books just to use their army? Codices should be the place where your units reside. Once this new book hits, Daemons will need 3 books to have their up to date rules (unless GW announces a new Daemons Codex that consolidates the Daemon book, the PA with the redone Fiend/Flesh Hound/Keeper/etc. rules, and Charadon 2 for Be'lakor). And if you want to release something in the meantime, put the rules out for free. It's absolutely shocking that Be'lakor's complete 40k rules weren't released as a PDF on the day he was released.

Agreed. The point I stopped playing 40k was when I needed 4 books to play my Chaos army in 7th. If they want to release new units, that's fine. Make them a free download online or put the rules in the model's box. Don't make people buy a 100 page book that has 2 pages of relevance to them.

Yeah... It would be nice if 50-60$ got me rules that would be considered up to date for 2-3 years... and that isn't on it's own doomed to get stomped by one of the newer codices after it. or to even get a codex before several campaign books launched. I can't believe these campaign books were this successful. They only apply to a few factions each and it's just so gutted in terms of content... Tell your local whales to quit buying these supplements XD also yeah I was surprised that the box for be'lakor didn't come with the rules in it... Or were just free online.

Etc etc. Really the tanky melee sisters are the only thing in this release that feel like they aren't just a retread of something Sisters already have.
But these walkers don't have the "order" keyword. That's why it's good to have honored sisters in battlesuits rather than criminals sentenced to a worse fate than death.
There was no named character with a banner before. You're thinking of the Imagifier, and it's a generic one.
There was no Supreme Commander in the sister army. Junith isn't one and is linked to one order specifically. Now we have one that can be included for any of our orders (since she's the High Abbess, she's technically the superior of all canonesses from all Militant Orders).
So there were reasons. Just reasons not good enough for you (and your voice doesn't matter, since you're clearly not a sister player ).
As for the tank, the Immolator was already a sister Razorback in the days when they come out first. Like the sisters themselves were very close to Space Marines squads (core sisters were tactical squads, dominions and retributors were similar to Devastator squads, and seraphims were similar to assaults squads). The inspiration from Space Marines army was always there. So having the Castigator isn't really that out of character for the sisters (even if I'd rather like to have a more "fiery" tank like one with multi-melta and flamers everywhere...but I guess it would have been close to a "more powerful Immolator with no transport" - at least the main weapon is indeed something the other tanks don't have already).
Hell, the Exorcist is basically a fancy Whirlwind at the core.
yukishiro1 wrote:Presumably what they were thinking was: "That sisters rhino that's just a normal rhino with some bling added on that we charge an extra 10 quid for worked a charm, let's just do that with a predator too! job's a good 'un!"
They increase the prices at every release. It's not sister specific.
Besides, I remember the prices when they were metal. Oh boy, they're still cheaper now.

Well, they’re likely holding back at least one Ork unit, Zodgrod Wortsnaga, as they teased him on Monday’s preview of the Painboss.
For me, what’s truly missing from these previews is audience interaction. In the normal run of things, we get the pics on Warhammer Community, and answers to questions shown off on Forums.
Yes, people can ask questions in the livestream, but with the number of commenters (to say nothing of parsing out interesting questions a posed) it’s just not really feasible to answer them.
This leads to Wade and Adam having a pretty staid conversation between themselves, and potentially missing stuff.
Disappointing as yesterday’s was though, I’ll still take them over nothing. Though I think I’d prefer a single, longer stream with timings released beforehand (such as AoS 1pm, 40K 2pm, BL 2:30pm etc). However, I’ve no idea how practical that is, given the chaps are clearly working from home, and not from the studio.

I wouldn't be so annoyed about the Charadon books if they did the sensible thing and introduced stop gap rules for factions that won't be getting a codex until next year.
Instead its blatantly day 1 DLC and that is frankly insulting.
"Hey Drukhari players you know you can buy this book which gets you an incredibly competitive Cult of Strife supplement? 4 pages of rules cha-ching! sucker!"
Will be the same with Sisters and book 2.
I also wouldn't be surprised if all the beastsnagga rules are in book 3 to co-incide with the Ork codex release.
I hate companies taken their loyal fanbases for chumps.
We all love this hobby that's why we care enough to vent here, and are being exploited.

They look like they've got foot jetpacks going by the smoke trails on the two in the background of that art. Might be they can't fly but have some form of jump pack capability. I forget if we've seen the reverse of them in the earlier previews.
Of course being a High Lord of Terra she might have an anti-gravity system in her suit. The Imperium can be totally backward in its use of science and yet at the same time very forward thinking (even if the latter often happens by accident).

One bonus that the interview for the SoB is that they've clearly built the army up from a one-trick-pony into a diverse army capable of different builds. So chances are if you don't want/like the armoured suits you don't have to take them. You can likely build a functional and viable list without taking them by focusing on other elements.
Fingers crossed it has good internal balance that allows you to build varied army options up letting you go for a style that suits what you want from the army.

This seems more than likely.
It makes very little sense tho. Vampire book had been ready for months, why put stuff that wouldn't be released for months if not years in it (seeing GW releases WQ expansion every 6 months, so at least some of this stuff would be planned for 2022)? And what the problem with CC can be that they can't produce it, but can produce what was supposed to be expansions in much larger quantities than normal initial run of WQ expansion would be?
That said, when they shown rat dude a few months prior, I had a feeling he doesn't fit with the rest of the vampire range at all and he should have been (together with balding fork hair crone) a mook WQ expansion... But it would indicate they made decision to scrap CC even before it was launched seeing they advertised him as vampire HQ well before CC hit the stores?

That doesn't preclude that these were models intended to be released as expacs for Cursed City though. These characters could have had rules in the Soulblight Gravelords book and still have been originally released in connection to the game before being released as standalone blisters/kits.

Whale here. I haven't bought a single 40k rulebook since 9th dropped. Not one, not even a codex. I refuse. I'm not collecting a library of books in order to play all my armies (have every faction in the game except Tyranids - only one homebrew Astartes chapter though). Give me pdf/epub editions like they used to or lose my money.
Blackstone Fortress expansions were released every three months on average (there was a 6 month gap between the first and second expansion - but the second expansion was actually 3 or 4 separate products released at the same time). Cursed City was originally supposed to have released around the Halloween timeframe. Assuming Soulblight weren't also delayed, you're looking at potentially 3 expansions out before Soulblight would have released.

A Mostly Renegades and Heretics blog.
GW:"Space marines got too many options to balance, therefore we decided to legends HH units."
Players: "why?!? Now we finally got decent plastic kits and you cut them?"
Chaos marines players: "Since when are Daemonengines 30k models and why do i have NO droppods now?"
GW" MONEY.... erm i meant TOO MANY OPTIONS (to resell your army to you again by disalowing former units)! Do you want specific tyranid fighiting Primaris? Even a new sabotage lieutnant!"
Chaos players: Guess i stop playing or go to HH. |

These characters could have had rules in the Soulblight Gravelords book and still have been originally released in connection to the game before being released as standalone blisters/kits. Except that's never been how it worked. Of the Factioned models in BSF, only the Ur-Ghuls(which already had models) had rules in the Codex before being released as a separate release(the vast majority still don't). The Warcry and Underworlds stuff has only recently been included in AoS books and those books that include them were all released AFTER those kits were released in their original system. If these models are in the book, they were always intended to be mainline releases rather than a release for Cursed City first.
