No I think that's the wrong gt. Pretty sure it was something with frog in the name. Some place in Kansas I think.
I actually listen to the long war podcast and it's pretty entertaining, although I know lots of dakka folks have some weird hate for spikey bits. I mean, I don't like the website either, so I just don't visit it, lol.
Is there some reason besides spikey bits that people hate the long war? Did one of them cheat at a tourney or something?

It's possible I have the GT wrong. I'll change it just in case. And I don't actually hate the Long War. I appreciate how much they lean into the Spikey Bits hate. lol
That said, I do have a comedy bit where I reenact the average exchange between Juice and Kenny from when Juice was a regular member that pretty much causes everyone who's heard them to collapse in tears from laughter. But I do it with love. I genuinely enjoy the show.

Yeah, we often try to describe disputes as having sides when the reality is people have problems with actions.
The dispute is over how Frontline Gaming smeared Pedro. There are no sides.

It's a very safe statement from Pablo. Could be that he doesn't want the details to come out because they make him look really bad, could be he's being the bigger man, but either way because FLG flubbed their statement so badly he comes off looking good in a safe, 7/10 sort of way. It's much more risky to get into the details.
The contrast between his statement and FLG's is quite stark, and he definitely comes off looking the classier.

Agreed with yukishiro here... who knows what happened, but FLG lost a fan here for the tone of that letter. Pablo’s was a decent podcast... he maintained a cool, civil tone during those casts, and it is easy to recognize that tone in his communication. Meanwhile, I bet working for FLG was like carrying a cactus in one’s pocket. Move a bit the wrong way end up with a prick on the tenders...

Pretty much agreed here aswell.
I've never been a huge fan of FLG, they just have a lot of issues but I respect when they do something good. But the handling and snubbing of Pablo with no more details other than "Take our word, he's bad. No we won't explain WHY, just believe us!" comes across awfully.

No one likes this kind of drama. It's cheap.
Frontline Gaming's next Las Vegas tournament, the one in July, is being held at a Station casino. For those that don't know, Station casinos (the chain) are the cheapest accommodations in Las Vegas, last I saw rooms could be had for $25 a night. Which is cheaper than Freemont Street. This one is going to be had at the Palace, which is anything but.
Lockdowns hit Station casinos very hard, lots of staff / management are not returning and they were not prepared financially for an extended non-operational period. The service worker's union almost had to strike to get basic Covid protections put in place, it was thought this was because they could not afford to bring in industrial hygiene consultants to perform the work. Labor relations have always been a source of contention for this chain, they have the greatest percentage of employees being paid minimum wage in the city and shift workers who rely on tips for their earnings receive no guaranteed minimum for nights with no traffic (even Binions will guarantee workers walk with something each night.)
As a result, they're having a hard time getting anyone local to work for them. People are scared, they lost a lot during this period, and it's hard to convince even dealers and bartenders to work at a place when they're not certain there will be a crowd. Travel restrictions from Eastern European countries mean they won't have seasonal workers they usually depend on during the summer. Would be surprised if Palace Station was staffed above 50% in July.
The buffet is the cheapest way to eat at their casinos and typically used by guests attending conventions. I've heard rumors about the quality of the food from cooks, and how they will serve food that was stored in a manner that would not be sufficient for other hotels. Without going into detail - I would personally never eat the bacon or any pork product served there. One of the other things about the Palace in particular - it's in a very bad place. You have a freeway running next to the hotel, then nothing but strip malls and professional buildings. At night, it can get dangerous. Traffic from strip joints to the South leads to some bad characters making their way North on the way back.
All this is to say, odd that Frontline Gaming could put out such a cheap shot on Pablo then advertise an event at such a cheap place.

All that was required was "He doesn't work here anymore and no longer represents us in any of his personal dealings." The extra "Watch yourselves out there ..." kind of schtick was not needed and very unprofessional.

But is it good 4 start thing for workers too? Asked my mom about it, because she went to work in US in casinos as a student. And in all casinos they were doing rather scumy things. Like turning part of the daily pay check in to non refundable chips or tokens you could get food at the bar. And if someone didn't like it, they would just be told they can go back home or that their students visas would be revoked after they will get reported on by their bosses. I doub that in 20 years much has changed, besides mayb people from different countries going to US. As in case of Poland it is not really profitable to work the minimum wage in the US right now.
Constructions on the other hand, are doing great. I have an uncle who lives in Canada since the 80s, and they work in Vermont and he is a rich man. Put all 4 of his children in to collage, has 4 houses. Bit of a slaver driver for his employees though, as some of our other cousins say.

So I have a theory about this brought on by someone else's comment. Does anyone know if Pablo was selling 3D prints?
If so, GW may have demanded that FLG let him go and that they put out some kind of statement, but FLG also know that the issue of 3D prints causes some real divides in the community - one that they don't want to wade in on. This would explain why they're saying "beware what you buy from him" (because you may be buying a recast), without actually saying that recasts are something you can buy. It would also explain why Pablo has been a gentleman about it - he knows that since FLG is so deeply in bed with GW, they cannot come to his defense at all. He understands the position they're in, and can't fault them for it.
Of course, if he wasn't selling 3D prints at all, then this theory goes out the window.
