In a new warhammer community article https://www.warhammer-community.com/2021/07/07/expert-painters-take-on-the-dominion-stormcast-eternals-and-the-results-are-inspiring/ there's a new stormcast with a headswap - does anyone know what helmet it is? It looks like a Sisters of Battle one, but the eyes are different and it looks like the lower half of the face isn't covered like theirs are.

This isn't just a really cool Sigmarine but testament to what minimal conversion work and a good paintjob can do for the army.

I don't think its too surprising. I think they did something similar with Primaris, though I want to say it was a constant freebie at GW stores, not just a monthly model. The primaris wasn't super unique, but it did have a scenic base, much like this guy

I think Peculiar Companions did a Landschnekt knights patreon recently with .stl files. I may have to look it up and print some of those heads and finally paint some Stormcasts.

I think I actually prefer the wider Stormcast, for the kind of big beefy superhuman type aesthetic. The new ones look too much like regular dudes in shape.

It certainly helps making Stormcasts look diffrent from Marines.

I wonder if this year there will be a Prigmarines Battleforce.

I wouldn't be surprised to see one for the Kruleboyz.

I still wish for a Mega-Gargants Battleforce, comprising of a 2 models bundle.

On a different note, can somebody please tell me (via PM, should you wish, to avoid off-topics here) about traiding groups on Facebook and even Reddit that don't mind international shippings for oop products? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Random thought; I really like how the starter set provides full command options as options. The 10x Vindicators, for example, can do two 5-man units each with a champion, a 10-man with one champion, or be assembled all as regular dudes. The banners can also be assembled as regular dudes. It is just really dam convenient to be able to do that.

For Stormcast, sure. Meanwhile, the Boltboyz are missing their unit leader upgrades and the Gutrippaz are missing their musician and standard, all of which we either need to convert or wait for the retail boxes to upgrade.

Yeah, it certainly feels like the Kruleboyz got the short end, they only have one battleline unit compared to the 1-2 for the Stormcast, and its not even a complete unit in terms of command group, yet the Hobgrots get options for 2 full sets of command on the sprues.

For the options that are there though, full hobgrot command and gutrippaz leader, they can be assembled as either. Still an improvement over previous iterations. I also note that the gutrippaz and boltboyz are integrated sprues with other models, while the hobgrots have their own. I suspect they simply ran out of space.

I think the sprues are indicative of what we already partly know after last weeks AOS preview...Dominion just like Indomitus contains some units like the Hobgrots and Necron Warriors that will get released as is for the army. Meanwhile the Gutrippaz are getting an new multi part sprues like the chain sword and bolt pistol Primaris Marines in Indomitus did. So it makes sense to give the Hobgrots their full options and the Gutrippas less so.

Honestly the market is always so flooded with starter set units that I wish they'd not spend resources on tooling "multipart" (but barely so, lately) versions of the same models.

Great value for money, but not as good as the Dominion starter box. Which if you order now, you can still get with the Very Limited, Selling Fast set of commemorative coins!

Sarcasm aside, unless these are going to be very cheap, they look like no value for money at all.

As everybody predicted, same formula as 40k. I got 2 Dominions, I'm good.

Didn't care much for the larger Dominon set but the little Warrior edition fits the bill nicely. Exactly the Stormcasts I was hoping for and although not interested in the Kruleboyz models they are welcome nonetheless, so long as the set its roughly £32.50.

After the 40K recruit edition I was a bit worried they wouldn't include a printed copy of the core rules, so thats a nice surprise.

Can't wait to add the Knight-Arcanum to my current party for Heros of the Hinterlands, hopefully pairing them up with Neave Blacktalon should the local WH Smiths have that copy of Mortal Realms this week.

Not relevant to AoS but on the subject of paint sets I still can't fathom why there isn't a contrast paint set. They are aimed at beginners and speed painters, afterall...

Looking at the paint set I'm a little surprised that they didn't use the new STC synthetic brushes for them.

Doesn't seem like there's any Annihilators included. That's all I really wanted to have in a set.

Guess it's off to eBay I go...

I assume that's because GW is making a standalone multipart kit.

It looks like the starter brush you got in Mortal realms and Conquest, they are hideous brushes good only for basing and really rough jobs. They are synthetic as well.

I find that they make decent small drybrushes for details and then once they fray they are OK rough stipplers. Biggest issue I have with the starter brushes is that the handles are practically made of balsa wood and very easy to snap while cleaning a brush.

AH so theres the Starter set! New it would come out not long after...I must say even though it has less minis Terrain is an acceptable alternative.
