Can a Reductus Saboteur user her plant demolitions action when she comes in from underground?

Underground specifies you can use abilities, but makes no mention of actions.
If a unit set up underground has any abilities that are used in your Command phase (e.g. Meticulous Planner), then the first time that unit is set up on the battlefield, it can use any or all of those abilities as if it were your Command phase.

update: currently wading through this. https://www.reddit.com/r/genestealercult/comments/st4x50/reductus_saboteur_lying_in_wait/

Is this not really a YMDC question? But yes it works like that. In general it seems more like a cool gimmick then actually good. Especially if you use it on a sueside bomb.

How ever this does mean she does get to plant the bomb.

Not a fan of the CA2022.5 news. While we are not as CP intensive as we used to be, we are definitely an army that burns most of our CP in a couple key turns because we die too quickly to afford not spending them all at once. If we're starting a 2k game with 6 CP and one detachment, spending 1-2 pre-game leaves us with 6-7 CP for the important T2 drops assuming we didn't spend any in T1. If the Inlay wasn't already an autotake for the Nexos it definitely is now, but ironically it's likely you're spending one of those crucial 6 CP to even give him one...

Played GSC for the first time - had a couple questions.

1) Is it possible to resurrect ( two different units ) 4 wolf quads and 2 bikes each turn ( assuming you roll well )?
2) How does the Biophagus give 5+++ to two units simultaneously?

Welcome to GSC.

Awsnser to quetsion 2: You do no not guive it simunltaneously. You pay for the 15 point upgrade to do it before battle. Then you do it again in the command phase.

Remember characters can use abilaties in the movement phase as though it was the command phase when they are coming in from reserves. (GSC rule.)

Thanks for the reply.

You would have to roll each result separately, right?

Since Niiai handled the second question I'll answer this - yes, Summon the Cult is restricted only by model count, not wound count. Bikes would roll to resurrect D3 models to a maximum of 3, so assuming each unit originally had 10 models including 2 wolfquads each, a roll of 3 on the D3 could bring back both wolfquads if they were dead as well as a bike - 10 T4 4+ wounds resurrected is pretty neat, not sure if it's worth building the army around but dropping an Iconward in on T2 in the middle of a load of bikers to resurrect more than half their total wound count is pretty villainous.

The neat thing is that when you do the 15 point upgrade you can choose what they want. No roll. This is great for 20 man neophyte squads with 5+++. Or on a big squaf of bikes. (It is in the ruling of the upgrade.) And I do thing abberants lets you choose what on the table you want any time, no roll. (Check the rules.)

Ok thanks guys - makes a ton more sense. It did seem like a weird build and it threw me for a loop tackling a million wolf quads with 5++/5+++ and resurrection.

Depends. Can you deliver them into melee or shoot them? What cult are you?

Riderunners with Heavy Mining Lasers to chip off wounds and some Acolytes with Rock Cutters to finish it off in melee.

I believe 10 Acolytes (with 4 Cutters) with Industrial Affinity and Impassioned custom Cult, Might from Beyond and the re-roll wounds strat kill a Knight in 1 go.

12A, 10 hits, 7.5 wounds, 22.5 Damage on average.

Jackals down 2ppm, but I was really hoping for more. A good deal of our characters could stand to drop 5-10 points, more in the case of the Saboteur and Abominant.

So we can now have 7" charges from underground to units in cover. That's fairly significant.

Atalan Jackals - how do folks equip them? Wolfquads? Is a Jackal Alphus worth it either with them or on her own?

Thank you.

I suppose the main question is what are you planning on using them for? Broadly speaking, they tend to get used as small bare-bones squads with maybe 1 demolition charge as scouts for the missions that require such units to avoid losing command points on the first turn.

I personally like the full unit with 2 quads as it feels relatively durable compared to most of our options. They either get Incinerators on the quads and get used for objective clearing or I give them 3-4 demolition charges and stubbers on the quads (in this case, the quads are ablative wounds for the bomb-carriers). Jackals can get good use out of Reckless Demolitions to get 2 uses of the demolition charges a turn and, since they get expose by proximity, they will typically be wounding on a 2+ against most things.

I've never seen the power weapons used and I don't have any currently modeled with them. They theoretically are better than they used to be, but the cost feels prohibitive (same issue for the Mining Laser Quads - looks appealing but points are really tight for the army right now).

As of this writing I've been struggling to get her to work under the new book. Jackels running anything but Mining Lasers don't really need her assistance (sadly) given they can get the same benefits by proximity and their general job of harassing objectives encourages them to get close anyway. She is a fairly reliable source of Crossfire tokens with her sniper rifle, but a Sanctus can do similar work with no risk of missing and better defensive abilities.

I feel like she would be far more powerful if one (or more) of the vehicles was given Core access. In the previous book her main strength was improving the accuracy of vehicle units, improving the damage of them now would also be welcome.

There was GSC list that did well resently. I had 3 groups with 2 of the flamer wolf quad. It combined with few characters, but the banner was one of them. It can regrow the wolf quads. 😊

The one build who did well in atournament was 3 full units of jackals with flamer wolf quads. Minimal with characters, but a banner to ressurect the wolf quads. Tok get a lot of wounds back. The list got it's ranged shooting from neophytes and rockgrinders.

I personally enjoy mass abomenants. I have not tryed mass handflamers in transports, but I have not done that after we got the new codex.

From the WarCom post:
Genestealer Cults have undergone a thorough review of wargear and weapon option costs, to shake up viable builds. Neophyte Hybrid and Acolyte Hybrid squads will find themselves with more points to play with, while speedy Atalan Jackals grab free wargear in exchange for a nudge upwards in base price.

Anyone know where this is officially listed? There's no mention of it in the munitorum PDF.

Here's the updated points with old values:

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Nevermind, I was just informed if it's not listed on the munitorum update page, the wargear is free. So grenade launchers for everyone!

Hey team, this may be really old news, but re-reading my codex, it looks like Unquestioning Loyalty doesn't work on mortal wounds any more - in previous editions it specified them as being included, and now doesn't have that wording and just referred to a failed save. Comments?

Anyone experimented with neophyte squads running 4 webbers?

A ton of armies and a terrain habit...
