That's one of the classic Metals. I'm pretty sure they never made it to Finecast because there was a time where Dire Avengers were plastic Guardians with metal heads & loincloths (plus metal sword arm & shuripistol arm for the Exarch) before the plastic Dire Avengers came out.

Oh no, Luke was discovered before they reached the detention level!!

Yes, the Dire Avenger on the right is one of the original metals, just like the Exarch. I was not planning on entering him, but I want to get him done at the same time so that all my Eldar infantry are finished.

Cheers,

I vote for this option.

Well, I found him, the worst of the bits box (from a previous eBay lot) in need of some redemption.

And in time for the Paralympics too! This’ll be fun.

Someone has had the model below for years. Someone could apparently not be bothered to paint it in all those years. Someone should probably feel bad about that. Someone might actually do something about it this month.

That pair are impressive for only five days' work.

Will he be getting a shiny new bionic leg?

Martians are looking good.

I'm not entirely fond of the primaris marines, but I do quite like their basic infantry so I thought I'd bite the bolter shell and enter one.

Like I need a reason to paint Eldar. Hey, there's a chaos marine helmet on the base at least...

You guys know that there are no special bonus heresy points given out at the end for doing the Eldear Protests

Mouslings are done
I wish they left shoulder-pads blank so I could of painted the order of the (Swiss Cheese) on them. Didn't even bother try to remove that mold line.

There is altogether too much completion going on for this early in the month

Nice work guys!

Did you even procrastinate people?! It’s an important part of the creative process.

Nice work everyone. I’m still plugging along in the sloppy basecoat stage. Should grab a WIP picture.

I just finished my second LotD themed marine yesterday and I think he looks pretty good. Unfortunately, I did the freehand bones on the torso a couple months ago, so I can't enter him.

Hey, all. Thought since I was hoping to paint this guy next and he lines up with this month's theme I would try this monthly challenge out. Also, I could use the motivation. This way I should at least get ONE mini painted this month.

Emperor's Champion.

Is he going to be an Emperors Children Lord? That would look awesome, but any other Legion/Warband would look cool too. It's always fun seeing Loyalists converted to the Dark Gods.

No Chaos here. Just an Emperor's Champion/homage to old fantasy art.

Ahhh. I see then. I was figuring chaos with all the conversion and prisoner model.

Having made progress on my Mass Effect vehicles, I'll throw some infantry into the mix. I started these conversions in about 2011, and then had to shelve them, but this seems like a good time to resurrect them.

I mainly stopped as I couldn't work out a decent substitute for the asari and human bodysuit type armour. However I realised that my Van Saar have been staring me in the face for years at this point

So Turian and Geth

Krogan and Quarian (I printed the Quarian, so its cheating a little bit)

And asari head is almost done

If the Quarian has too much paint on, I have a male human in the wings as well.

Don't think I'll be entering this month. I've always got an emperor's children or world eater to paint, but I'm having too much fun painting fantasy stuff at the moment. Good luck everyone

Dark Eldar Space Sailor Soldiers have arrived.

i attempted a poor man's zenithal highlighting on the right model with spraycans. i realized that i had no idea what i was doing (huge specks of white clumped, fortunately i don't think it obscured anything but it was spooky) so i chickened out on doing it again on the second model. alright here's the proof pic:

here's the wip #1:

i have to say that i was pretty skeptical of people saying some models are more fun to paint than others, but it is true! i love my ork boyz, but this evil kabalite warrior has been so much fun i wish i had more assembled. i went with a rather safe color scheme. i really like darker purple + black accent(s). i wasn't sure what other colors i could 'safely' use, but of course there is a bit of pink. i tried to do some highlighting and adding depth with shadows, but i think it just looks like she has zebra stripes on her thighs. i'm going to keep drawing lines, though and see what it looks like when its all done. i'm not sure if i should douse the model in a wash after she's done. i did that with my orkz, but i'm not sure if i should here. any tips/criticism welcomed - i have only a faint idea of what i am doing.

I think that the model would benefit from a wash. It will serve to make those highlights blend together with the rest of the model better, and enhance the details a bit.
