No no, every squat name we've seen has referenced things like that (gaellic/nordic/scandinavian/old english words). It wouldn't make sense for this one to not be a dumb, made up word.

you know, when 3rd parties released space dwarfs without a beard, they got a lot of hate for that because those are not real dwarfs so they should not call it that

yet GW don't even call them dwarfs any more, so it is fine if none of them has a beard and people should accept that it is something different
(but it is also strange that whatever GW is doing is ok, but other companies are not allowed to make something new or different with model design)

And this is just 40k. A whole reveal stream for just 40k.

I loved all the model reveals. 40k Daemon Prince is my MVP, loved the Torments, hope that the Cultists will still come with their Dark Vengeance flamer and stubber options, but I'm afraid they might not.

oh my goodness, I expected new chaos cultists, but like six new chaos 40k kits? hot damn

It's almost as if whoever creates their IP gets to decide who has or hasn't got a beard. from what I can tell this isn't a retcon, so what're you complaining about?

Loving the Cultists. Love some of the mutants, some of those will make for some nice Nurgle zombies.

The Torments? Love them as well, only issue is them being inevitably monopose and the obvious recycled parts, such as on the third one with what is clearly a resized Bloodthirster head file slapped on there.

Cultist HQ is great. I really like the floaty psyker head or whatever it is.

DP is good, though I'm not a big fan of the alt heads, particularly the Nurgle one. Not to say they are bad, just slapping a diseased head on the normal body does not a Nurgle mini make. Unless there are other option they have not shown it feels half arsed.

The Squat? It is what it is. Far too overdone, unless.... it is a single HQ or a small vehicle. Honestly cannot imagine a full unit of these if that is meant to be a basic trooper.

Yeah someone asked if it was Primaris Cato in the art and they just gave a very non-commital response.

Now, this was a great kickoff for Warhammerfest. Lots of great stuff. I love all the Chaos items.

Points going fully digital is for the best. Allows them to balance much more up to date and not be 6+ months behind. Big win and shows they have taken community feedback into account.

The more I look at them, the more chuffed I am about the Cultists.

The representation of Chaos in 40K needed exactly that sort of thing. Lovely bit of body horror, the tormented damned, which all ask questions of how bad was your life to make you even contemplate that was a better path.

There is no 40k version. There is a DP kit. It will build a DP. It has lots of options. Some of those are 40k related. Just like the current DP.

Just looks like a generic Captain to me, unless we also want to claim IG are getting a giant 40k version of Sergeant Wojtek...

And this is a problem of GW's own creation. They've conditioned people to think everything they see in the art is or will be a mini, so when some out there art appears (see, much of Lewis Jones' stuff), we get rampant speculation for no reason.

The Squat trike seems both good and bad to me.

The overall styling of it I think is pretty cool, it's got me a bit more optimistic about them than the reveal model has with its generic look, at least. It has a slight retro dieselpunk vibe that makes me think of the Fallout series, and I like that their weapons aren't just energy stuff again.

But that it's yet another anti-grav vehicle is just such a let-down. Space Marines had jetbikes, custodes have them, Eldar and Dark Eldar have them, Primaris Marines, Tau and Mechanicus all have anti-grav. The default just seems to be "It's advanced so make it hover!", I'd have much preferred it to have wheels or tracks or something along those lines as that just feels more fitting.

The rider being beardless because they're female isn't an issue, but I still don't know what to think of the coat. It really seems out of place over the top of that bulky void suit.

Thanks. To be fair it could be either Cato or a generic captain.

A lot of the IG stuff in that art looks quite nice if it was turned into a model.
