Custodes reinforcements are on their way...

https://www.warhammer-community.com/en-gb/articles/iewdkefd/sunday-preview-new-legio-custodes-incoming/

I would've been excited for that lovely golden Dreadnought, but after the Destrier I'm sure it will be £50 or £60 plus £15 for a laugh.

Cool... now I can see how much more money they are going to steal from me for another squad of Custodians.

Sort of. It's an easy proxy as a sentinel blade, but the sentinel blade is drastically worse than the pyrithite spear the 40k shield-captain model has (-1 strength, -1 damage, way worse gun).

Moved to legends. I'd say it's a 50-50 at this point, but GW really really really really does not like models that can play in more than one game. Custodes and Knights were spared the last legends massacre, but I would not take that as a promise they're safe forever.

Nah I'm fairly certain they're waiting for the right moment to remove them. They could have added cerastus chassis to the knight books given they were available in plastic and didn't. That lack of commitment is very evident of the intent to me.

Custodes are getting new rules this year for 40k. That's what the preview in January said.

They are, though what will be featured?

I figure they will get the new Custodian Guard. Doing what TOW did with Chaos Warriors and dumping the old Custodian Guard on 40k would not fly for GW's golden goose game.

But the tanks? The Dreadnoughts? I am not so sure.

Yes, there's a new edition, all armies will get a rules update this year as part of the launch.

We also know from historical precedent they do the release in June, they drop the rest of the releases for the 2 box factions up through October, typically do a 2 faction release of book + mini in November/December.

So if people are expecting a custodes release wave for 40k, it likely isn't a codex release this year.

No, I'm just expecting an update to account for the models currently being released.

Eh, I swapped out her sword for a guardian spear and I'll run her as a Crucible character.

Was it a difficult conversion?

Not really. Just had to find a spear with only the right hand on it, of which there are two in the Custodian Guard kit.

Seem to be pretty standard prices for these. Nothing here that jumps out at me. Total army cost is more or less the same, although maybe one could argue that it went down with the removal of the very expensive resin kits.

$255 for the box doesn't seem so bad now.

Total Individual Value: $335.89

Box Price: $255.00

Total Savings: $80.89 (approx. 24% off)
