Theme this months seems to be halflings, sure, why not.
A halfling rogue and ranger, not too many sling using figures out there. I always liked slings at low levels when I couldn't afford arrows or the skill slots to take up fletching myself.
A druid and a 'River Witch' who can, with some light conversion, represent a 'Stream Sorceress' or a 'Brook Mage'. You might consider using her as a 'Creek Conjuror' but honestly the conversion work for that is beyond my skills.
Reaper is also making a small return to the world of prepaints with the release of Sir Roland the Grey. I really like the subtle shading and highlights on him.
While Sir Guy the Red is honestly a disappointment. I would have to strip and redo him completely.
So good month for Christmas and Halfling fans, enjoy.

The PDF is not all that useful, just an SKU and a new price, but the short answer is if you're thinking of ordering METAL this is the time.
In happier news their Dungeon Dwellers RPG Kick Starter closed at $207k, of a $15k goal, so good on them.
The theme seems to be Under the Sea, we got your Mermaid/Man warriors, you Merwoman/butler royals, even a Little Mermaid for those whose formative years included a brief infatuation with redheaded sea life.
Or if you prefer life Slightly to the Left of the Sea...
All the sailors, fishermen, innkeepers and uh... Women of Negotiable Virtue, you could need to populate your shore-side town.
I don't which I like better, the Shark Butcher or the fact they have a halfling and half orc Lady of the Night.
I've mentioned before that recent editions of D&D have gone full on Star Wars Cantina. Instead of everyone just living in human villages during the Age of Rensfaires where Gran'pa tells tales of that one time he saw an elf, now parties are just as likely to have a Gator Man Druid, a Catfolk Bard, a half-demon Paladin, and a Ranger Racoon. So now you're covered.
The Ogre merchant is totally an NPC I will use.
"Ya wanna buy a vase? Opps, sorry, they break so easy, here you wanna buy a glass-oh darn, how about this genuine Phoenix Egg-aw drat!"
And finally in the Other/WTF category...
Mephits, flying fire imps IIRC, in clear plastic for some neat effects.
A chicken swarm. In case you need a swarm of chickens. This one really temps me.
Pizza Dungeon Animatronics, for the truly niche among you.
A set called "Don't steal cockatrice eggs!" which is good advice in general.
A very reasonably priced dragon.
And finally a female Landskir- Landsni- Landsend-, a female poofy shirt German sword person!
And there you are!
Something for everyone, whether you're interested in a pirate den or a medieval Chuck E Cheeses you are covered.
Thanks for the update! I ordered the two figs that I've wanted over the last couple of Reaper campaigns (even though one is horrendously out of scale for anything I'd need but I love the sculpt!) in my first ever Reaper order. Hopefully you have an affiliate account with them so you can collect your pennies' worth of the cut.
What was so good about Reaper Black as opposed to the others?
ced1106 wrote: > What was so good about Reaper Black as opposed to the others?
IIRC, Not as soft as the early Bones (eg. Bones I through III KS), and easier to paint black than white.
Thanks. I didn't know if the level of detail/crispness improved as that was a bit soft on the earliest bones figs I saw when they hit retail. I won't be driving over my minis so I doubt I'll need the durability of OG bones.

Definitely sharper detail. Bones USA has the same level of detail and the advantage of being made at Reaper's factory. This allows them to release models faster and restock faster. Plus y'know, made in the USA.
And it looks like some more snuck out the door.
Otterfolk! How many times have you wished you could combine the intelligence of Man with the waterproof coat of an Otter! Well now you can!
A ghost pirate captain! I feel like he should just be hanging out in the Pirate Inn not actually doing any haunting or anything just nursing his ghost drink in the corner.
Krampus!
For when you want your kids to have a truly traditional Christmas!
A greater basilisk! For when the lesser, basic, or great basilisk will not do!
I may hold out for a Greatest Basilisk, why buy second best?
Dance of Death! A quite reasonably-priced diorama showing the ancient rivalry between the Black and White Dragons.
Why does Reaper have to bring race into everything?
And finally...
The other day I had to talk to Kyoto Secunda because she has one of those artist's wooden hands and had posed it in rude gesture.
So I don't think I will be getting Bigby's Big #$%^ You.

Yeah, I suppose it does help when your main supply chain issue as long as you have raw materials is that Jim the caster is on a bathroom break down the hall. I can appreciate the sharper details though neither model I ordered will be particularly dependent on that as larger figs. Also, it's already shipped same day so yay! If things go well, it should get here on Friday.
Picked up the mermaids, been waiting on them for a while, as regretted not getting them back on the kickstarter.
The bones black models i've got are all much nicer than original bones ones. Its harder and holds detail way better.
Original bones was fine for large stuff, but terrible for humanoid scale stuff.
Not got any bones usa ones yet so can't tell how it compares.
it's the quiet ones you have to look out for. Their the ones that change the world, the loud ones just take the credit for it.
Bones USA is by far the superior material for detail. OG bones was slightly above gummy bears in detail. Bones Black was like a medium tier CMON boardgame material. Bones USA resembles actual resin/metal. It has undercuts, pouches have distinct edges rather than just bleeding into the body, swords have an edge etc. Its more fragile, but actually worth the effort to paint. The few 3d prints I've received from Reaper have also been really nice.
I'm annoyed so much if Bones 6 is going to be in bones black, but I guess it was already in the pipeline when they started making the switch to Bones USA.
They may not have the production capacity for doing a whole kickstarter in Bones USA/Thermoplastic as while the KS could afford for them to buy more machines it could me too far out for them to get everything in time to deliver when they'd prefer.

That's pretty much a certainty with up to a thousand left in the wild. I don't know how many there are in captivity, but that won't bring it to immense levels.

Is it normal for Kickstarter only (at least currently) items to come in retail packaging? My ogre porter (yay!) in dark bones came in a retail style box whereas my ship figurehead came in a sealed baggie. I hadn't seen the ogre porter in stores (I'm been waiting for it FWIW) and I haven't ever seen it in their store which I typically check every time when our fearless mod updates the thread here.

I have quite a few from previous campaigns in retail packaging. Usually the big sets/items that are one to a box that they plan to release to retail have one. For example Bones 1 had Dragons Don't Share in a retail box from the KS campaign.
Yeah, I've seen a bunch at retail but I never know when or even if something will make it there as they don't seem to publish that info. I've been waiting for the ogre porter for a while now (since basically Bones 5 iirc ended) and I'm glad I got him. It just surprised me that he came in a retail blister (sorry if there was any confusion with me calling it a box previously) when I had never seen him offered at retail whether locally, ebay, or even the Reaper website.

I wanted to pick up some of their Christmas minis that I was regretting get rid of a few years ago, but, annoying, there's barely any on the UK part of their website.
