I can't find that statement. Was it in the studio rules review? I didn't listen to that.
ERJAK wrote:What game are you playing that you don't frequently cap objectives with a single unit?
9th Edition? One unit on an objective is basically "good try", don't tell me that they won't get blasted off from the objective. I think the last time I had only one unit capping an objective was, like, 5th or 6th edition when only Troops could cap and my Troops layout was rather airy.
ERJAK wrote:To put it to a sports analogy, what you've essential said is 'well, on the off chance you'd try to shoot the ball AWAY from the goalkeeper, certainly X rule would be a problem!'
I think this analogy is what you guys are doing: "In the off chance this very specific situation occurs, certainly Battleshock will be a problem!" Tho I'm now a bit unsure because you are saying that suiciding solo squads into objectives is totally a thing when I haven't seen it once since... dunno... early 8th edition I think? So maybe the problem is with the meta in my gaming group giving me the wrong idea.

We’ll be livestreaming the top-table action as usual – but there are a few treats for avid Warhammer 40,000 fans. From 7pm CDT (1am BST) on Thursday the 1st of June and Friday the 2nd of June, we’ll be hosting full 2,000 point games from the new edition. There’ll be expert commentators on hand to break down the action and discuss the new datasheets for each and every unit that appears.

That statement bodes poorly for combat patrol!
They can swap stuff out, have different people. Plus, its different days and at least the presumption of different viewers.
Its still the marketing phase for Leviathan, so I expect them to focus on it. 'as a base for the armies' as you said.

No saves seems ridiculously good and judging by the fact we're likely looking at 1 Cabal Point per Rubric/Scarab unit, 2 per regular character and 3 for Ahriman, 9 is likely to be achievable very easily, with some left over.

A little torn. The rituals do work as the faction ability, but the cost jumps up real fast- from 2 to 5 (and I'm not clear how many points an army is going to get, the sorcerer leading the rubrics providing _1_ is a bad sign)
Rubrics themselves feel like they got kicked a bit. Downgraded for the buffs that they can possibly get.
Plus, lore-wise, nothing gives a Rubric feel. All is dust is gone, they don't get any benefit (or penlaty) from being empty suits of dust. They read like just standard marines with slightly better guns.
Ahriman seems almost auto-include- even once per game a free ritual of any cost is staggering, and +1 to wound is great.
Kindred sorcery is kind of rubbish as a detachment ability. The few psychic abilities shown here have very few attacks, so hunting for 6s is pretty unlikely. Its best application is Ahriman whacking people with his stick.

Do I expect the following combo to be good? No it'll be far too expensive of a gimmick but I do expect to hear some people complain about it anyway.
So:
Ahriman
Vortex Beast
Allied Knight loaded with as much dakka as possible/some long ranged Forgeworld unit with dakka (not sure if TSons will have access to them still but w/e)
Turn 1 use Ahriman and the Vortex Beast to reduce an enemy unit within 36" to having 0 armour saves for completely free
Big dakka boy lets loose

Currently it's over 20. 3-4 less from icons. Point changes likely drop some. I'm expecting around 15 for typical list.
Alas probably has same issue current codex has. If unit doesn't generate points it won't see much use

Rubrics are kind of baked in. 3+ to hit with reaper, bolters with 2 shots instead of RF. The sorcerer putting his spell and pistol into combat is nice - preserves that smite into combat feel. People might be aghast at no armor saves - and it will be brutal - but AP1 and the relative loss of durability will even that off a bit.

The army ability looks strong enough assuming cabal points are as Slipspace guesses.
1AP loss for bolt guns and flamers, 2AP loss for Soulreaper, not great but not the end of the world.
All is Dust is All is Gone.
The detachment ability looks weak.
Foot Ahriman + 10 Rubrics looks squishy.
Mutalith looks possibly good, that main gun is only S2 and AP1 off a Railgun.

It has a single attack. None of the detachment bonuses matter much.
Warpsmite is mildly interesting because its anti-infantry 4+ and already has devastating, so sustained is going to give some value, but even then its just 2 attacks.

Baked in to... what?
2 shot bolters seem to be standard on all marines (which is probably my biggest issue. Rubrics are now... just standard marines. 5++ is usually just the standard tzeentch gimmick he hands out to everyone as standard.)
That they hit on 3+ with their one good(ish) weapon is... fine?

For that to be worthwhile you might need to be shooting something big, which will probably have an invulnerable.
Two RFBCs hitting a T10 will do just about 13 damage so you could kill a normal tank, but not a land raider.

It's fishing, but it's kind of neat. You want DW on Stalk most of the time, but not on Warpsmite. So at least it's giving you some pause depending on other spells. Working on Warpsmite math.

Yes? From daemonic pact, the primary army keeps their rules. I doubt knights would be different (and can probably still ally)
