The problem isn't that the Melta can't one-shot things anymore. The problem is that it hasn't kept up with the huge boosts in toughness that vehicles have undergone, whereas everything else seems to have had an increase of some description.

And psychic powers continue to be the worst thing in this new edition. Seems non-Khornate Daemon Princes aren't psykers either.

Anyway, have some more leaks:

Spoiler:

And apologies if this one doesn't work:

The mightiest of Tzeentch's avatars, the legendary Kairos Fateweaver... has one psychic power.

*sigh*

Well…this sort of thing could be awkward for Drukhari.

Precisely.

Stretching the definition of 'infantry' to include 'not infantry' would have been utterly bizarre.

I happen to disagree, I think it's a rather minor abstraction and people who use poison weapons and other anti-infantry weapons will have a harder time suspending their disbelief that their poison or anti-infantry guns stop working because the unit is astride a horse or sitting in a bike and mostly exposed.

While true, Daemons have ALWAYS been an up close army. Sometimes a charge is what you want to do.

I'd rather the Instrument of Chaos (still a silly name all these years later) be consistent across the army than do different things in different squads.

Well, his spell does 3.7 to T10. He used to do 2d3 MW plus a utility spell ( usually ). More on smite when the round got high enough, but less lethal now.

He didn't do much else. We don't need denial so that's moot. His plus to cast is also irrelevant now.

It's definitely less, but I don't think there's a huge loss in complexity ( strats will determine his value ). Certainly less choice.

I miss the psychic phase, but I think I can make this work. Need to see more though.

Not your particular statement Daed, but the fact that it's probably correct, and that's what's become of 40k.

That's the Halfling rifle.

Look at what the Eldar Ranger has. Their "advanced" rifles only have AP -1. WTH?

That is quite surprising its weaker than a ratling sniper. I also wonder if they'll continue to release data cards for the BSF characters like Amallyn Shadowguide and whether her rifle will be a relic version.

It also covers the Sniper Rifle for the Command Squad and DCK Squad, so the standard IG Sniper Rifle.

Yes, this oddly makes it better than the Aeldari Ranger's sniper rifle, but you get those on every model of the squad.

More what? Five internet points says Magnus' only ranged attack is Gaze of Magnus. From what I've seen so far, even the most powerful psyker short of the Emperor is gonna look like his sorcerous might got replaced with a wet noodle.

Love being a Tyranid player, looking at the Core Stratagems Core Imperial Strategems and realizing there may be as many as three that I can never use.

All detachments will have access to the same number of stratagems!

And why in the Changer's name are ALL of Tzeentch's shooting attacks 'psychic'?! The answer can't be 'becuz demons, duh!' because the ranged weapons of the Bloodthirster and the Great Unclean One don't have it.

Chaosistency!

How many times must I tell you this: Math. Isn't. Everything.

This is about options, fluff, background, thematic resonance, and the fact that Kairos - mightiest Lord of Change in the service of Tzeentch, the Chaos God of Fate and Magic - has ONE psychic power.

It doesn't matter whether it does 1 wound or 1000 wounds on average: It's boring.

Don't you get it yet?

The complexity of the psyker's in the game has for sure gone down.

In 8th/9th how good a psyker was got expressed in terms of how many powers does he know, how many he can use per turn and how likely he was to use them.

In 10th they went for quality of the powers instead of quantity and diversity.

The 8th/9th approach had a lot better "feel" to it, but also created quite the amount of issues.

The 10th fixes those issues, but if you came from 9th you can't avoid getting a feeling of... meh...

I wish they had done the mightier psychic casters more in the vein of the faction leaders' pick one of three abilities. Give them one psychic shooting attack, one ability, and then three other psychic abilities they get to choose one of each turn. How I would have handled it anyway.

That would have been quite nice, and provided some much needed versatility for the best Psykers.

Also nice username!

I didn’t see relic Terminators mentioned in the legends article, will they be kept in 10th for competitive?

I'd say wait until we have the first Codex release to see how they're treating them, if its like AoS (which it is looking similar too with them calling upgrades Enhancements), we may have a list of extra powers and a section detailing how many each type of psyker gets per Enhancement spent. Nids are getting a book out the door so it won't be long till we see it, could go either way right now.

They answered in a facebook comment that they would be going to legends

Ah yes. That suitable weapon loadout of lightning claws and combi-bolters, a reaper autocannon and grenade harness, and a plasma blaster on the sergeant...

The Phoenix Lords look to be about the power equivalent of what I think a lot of folk were taking of when they hoped for the return of independent Exarchs.

I’m puzzled that Dire Avengers only get OC1. Also, War Walkers have a 4++ save for some reason.

Agreed the Phoenix Lords definitely seem to have taken a step down in power, about on the level of an Exarch Leader.

Yeah Walkers definitely got a glow up this edition, especially with being able to Tank shock. The 4++ Invul is a surprise, they've been 5++ for a while. I hope the Wraithlord has considerably higher toughness otherwise the War Walker is going to probably be the superior choice with that Invul.

That's just their force field. Nothing new there other than it being perhaps a bit more reliable.

What's surprising is that they have that and the -1 to Wound roll special rule, a special roll that I'm sure is making Death Guard players go "What the feth???".
