I know it has a force field. What I am surprised by it it being a light scout vehicle with a better INV than anything else we’ve seen in the army.

That's just their force field. Nothing new there other than it being perhaps a bit more reliable.

What's surprising is that they have that and the -1 to Wound roll special rule, a special roll that I'm sure is making Death Guard players go "What the feth???".

Let's be honest, nigh on everything is making deathguard players do that.

I just realised that the primarchs will walk through the GDs, except the blood thirster.

The loc, Kos and Guo all wound guilliman on a 5+ and lion on a 6+ (due to that shield)!

That seems pretty sub par really.

I remember when it used to have a 2+ inv save for the pilot.

Sentinels having regiment means that they can take orders from a junior officer. That seems like it has potential.

Also, can you return less dkok troops than you roll? Wording seems like you could, so you are not forced to lose buffs if you want them.

But only the pilot (when you determined what part of a vehicle you hit before trying to damage it) because he was just hanging out, glued to the front of the Walker with only his mesh armour suit to protect him. So he got his own personal power filed rather than ruin the aesthetic the bonesingers were going for with boring “armour” like some sort of mon-keigh…

Knights only get a 5++, as do Warlord titans

The Phoenix Lords look to be about the power equivalent of what I think a lot of folk were taking of when they hoped for the return of independent Exarchs.

I’m puzzled that Dire Avengers only get OC1. Also, War Walkers have a 4++ save for some reason.

well, historically dire avengers have always been a elite/"veteran" option, equivalent to sternguard, kasrkin, Nobz or other "troops plus" type veterans, and OC 2 seems to be mostly limited to conventional "troops" options as a way to grant them better objective play than more specialist units.

Im guessing this is just GW trying to ensure you have a reason to take Guardians by giving them better OC than dire advengers.

To be a man in such times is to be one amongst untold billions. It is to live in the cruelest and most bloody regime imaginable. These are the tales of those times. Forget the power of technology and science, for so much has been forgotten, never to be relearned. Forget the promise of progress and understanding, for in the grim dark future there is only war. There is no peace amongst the stars, only an eternity of carnage and slaughter, and the laughter of thirsting gods.

I'm finally allowed to share my exclusive unboxing of the Leviathan box set:

https://taleofpainters.com/2025/05/unboxing-warhammer-40-000-leviathan-inc-high-res-sprue-pics/

I've got high-res pictures of ALL the sprues (both Nids and Marines), information regarding alternate bitz and assembly options (not many), plus a delve into the table of contents of the book.

Detailed review will follow next week

Wait, why do Dire Avengers get to keep their selection of melee weapons on the sergeant, whilst Kabalites had their selection reduced to 'Sybarite close combat weapon'?

Excellent! Thank you.

Looking forward to the scale pics. If you could throw a Marine Centurion and Boxnought into the scale pics with the Termies, that'd be great.

Congratulations. Eldar now seem to have the same "parity" between the "good guy" and "bad guy" factions as Astartes.

Welcome to 10th edition: where consistency goes to die.

Especially funny given Stu Black stating the design team have a "full design system" and a "full rules library" that should theoretically help them maintain consistency.

(although it didn't stop them giving the Flail of Corruption two different sets of stats depending on who's holding it - for a Blightlord, it's a Flail of Corruption, but if a Plague Marine holds the exact same weapon, it becomes a "Heavy Plague Weapon"

Because glaives are cool

No seriously that's pretty lame we get to keep ours and DE don't. I don't mind melee weapon consolidation on some level but it's unfortunate when it's not applied to everyone fairly.

Roughly from one watch:

lots of lore
PL gone, all points
1,000 point at start
Don’t need to share keyword in roster (but armies still need to match)
5 requisition to start
RP costs went up for things, cap now 10.
1 XP per battle, 1/3 kills, MVP still gets bonus
1 RP +200 points
Upgrading hero escalating costs (first 1 point, 2nd 2 points, etc) for enchancements
RP cost to break heroic/legendary breakpoint for non-character units. Stops just leveling up units fast.
repair/heal costs more expensive for leveled up units.
Fresh recruits more RP for leveled units
Roll or pick upgrades/scars. If roll, roll 2 pick 1.
when wounded, you need to give up a honor to skip the scar. not just give up RP
Tyranic War Vet upgrade stuff, earn points unlock tree upgrades
Missions/agenda mostly same
Blessing for mis-matched army levels. 1 per 5 crusade level different. not just CP, but boosts, buffs, etc. Like cover for the first round.
tyranid campaign rules.

I'm not exactly up in arms that power swords and agonizers have been consolidated. Probably would have just stuck with calling them all "agonizers" (because its cooler, even if arguably not correct) rather than "Sybarite close combat weapon" - but there we go.

Because if you want balance, this becomes much harder to achieve the more variables there are. It also leads to 'Why are there more entries for a Primaris Lt than I get in my entire Codex type complaints.

Billicus wrote:

Yet GW can only take one of the two courses of actions, unless we want to start discussing quantum dynamics and the possibility of there being a multiverse. Which, now I think of it is a good way to be happy in this hobby. Whenever someone is upset GW picked the course of action they dislike but others don't, they can find peace in that there is another universe in which GW chose the one they wanted, and that universe's version of them gets to be happy.

Sounds like a "too much Primaris " problem, and not a "too much fw problem". Further emphasize by the continued support for fw units for Knights and the Golden Banana Boys.

I have long ago resigned myself to Drukhari being the poor relation to CWE. 😄

At least we get to be faster and more fragile in return.

Right? 🤦🏻‍♂️

But I am happy that Exarchs got to keep their wargear, even if my Sybs didn’t. Although no more Double Catapults for the DA Exarch is hopefully an omission.
