Yeah I wouldn't start building double-Melta Jump units until the real Codex/datasheets come out. Meanwhile... I'm re-posting this here because I find it amusing: "I'm sorry sir, but you cannot join our unit." "Brother-Sergeant Hephastor! We have known each other for nearly 20 years. I remember when we first joined the Chapter, and had our grey armour painted glorious Ultramarine blue! You have risen to lead a squad of hardened veterans - true guardians of the Emperor's Galaxy - and I have risen to the rank of Company Captain. Surely you would not begrudge me to fight along side an old friend? "I'm afraid not sir, I cannot allow it." "Whatever for, Brother-Sergeant?" "You... you don't have a Plasma Pistol sir. I'm sorry, but we Hellblasters are a unique breed. Sometimes our guns explode and kill us, so we come back to life briefly to fire our exploded guns before dying again, and the thought of having someone join us who doesn't have a Plasma Pistol just... it's just unconscionable, sir!" "Uhh... go back a bit. Did you say come back to life?" "Again, I apologise Brother-Captain, but we cannot speak until you have a Plasma Pistol. Which means you'll have to give up the shield and sword you've been using for years as well, because you can only have a Power Fist if you have a Plasma Pistol." This is a silly game.

Definitely not a contender vs the Lancer though unless is like 60% the cost. Overall though there's so many good units. Vehicles stand out more, but they don't have Leaders so discerning value at a glance is tough.
And there's a very punishing secondary for leaning on vehicles too much.

Marines don't have bodies or full unit resurrection barring the contemptor. Breaking down the other differences will take a good while though.

Also, I'm not sure a count is a good method here. A percentage might be better given the large number of datasheets.

I'm amused the scout special ability is swanning off.

I'm just (pleasantly) surprised at how much of the old marine stuff is good. Jump assault troops plowing in with mortal wounds, tacticals disengaging at will, devastators ignoring cover

I'm pretty sure you're supposed to swap the combat knife/pistol for a carbine/ CCW, but they neglected to say you get the CCW as well. So if you have carbine-armed Reivers they don't have any close combat attacks, according to their own datasheet.
Assault marines seem to suffer from the same. If they take a special weapon they will have no melee weapon at all.

Outpost Games in the UK have just been advised that their allocation has been reduced to 25% of what was expected from discussions earlier in the week. They had already allocated almost all the stock using an interest register so will now be cancelling the vast majority of those orders.
We are regretfully finding ourselves in a far too familiar situation today. After months of being told that all the stock issues we were having on Games Workshop new releases were in aid of 10th Edition being a faultless launch with plenty of stock. This has turned out to have been in vain.
All the information and promises of available stock until late last night indicated stock levels would be fine and we would get everything we ordered. There was no indication that there would be any stock shortages, we were even encouraged to up our numbers as recently as Tuesday. Here is the unadulterated and transparent series of events and the outcomes of such.
We finalised our request for enough units last night to cover 100% of interest list demand and have enough for general sale at 10am on Saturday for pre orders. At no point during these discussions was any indication made that there was likely to be stock shortages. As you can observe for yourselves through Games Workshop’s marketing, incredibly large volumes of stock were purported to have been made.
This morning Games Workshop emailed to tell us we would be receiving exactly 33.33% of what we asked for and this is less than 25% of the numbers given to us which would be considered “no problem”. Up until this point, the only indication of any delays would be that over a certain volume, deliveries of stock to us, may need to be split across multiple days. Additionally, as of our latest conversation with Games Workshop, there are no current plans to provide additional stock to retailers. We have spoken to several independent retailers, and they are all in the same position to a greater or lesser extent.
We honestly have no words. We apologise that we will not be able to fulfil our promise to you all being able to get the stock you requested.

The stores use the term Interest Lists instead as a get around. There are a few in the UK that are doing it.

The wheels seem to be coming off the 10th roll out stock wise, but this is similar to how indomitus went iirc.

Only if you're trying to answer the question "does the edition entire have less re-rolls?" Right now I'm just thinking of "which of these two armies seems easier/better to succeed with?" You aren't compelled to take one of everything per battle.

Or the level of pre-orders from other stockists were so high that GW had to go back and revise to spread the allocation more equally? Probably shouldn't jump the gun based on one location.

Depending on how wideswept an issue that is, stuff like this is how you get investigated by free trade authorities. While cancelling orders etc. is no crime and happens all the time, manipulating markets, making fraudulous offers that you don't intent to actually follow up on, misleading buisness partners so that they make offers they can't complete and so on are prohibited practices in many jurisdictions and can easily lead to costly intervention by the authorities if you use such tactics blatantly, and repeatedly.

The problem is, at least in the US, that FLGS have to have their preorders in to GW days before actual preorders go live. So they absolutely need to know how many people would like to preorder the game, before you can preorder the game. It doesn't matter what GW wants to call it, short of sending a psyker to every FLGS to foretell their sales numbers, the FLGs have to have a pre-pre-order order.

Assuming that Marines will be OP because they get more re-rolls strikes me as no different from assuming Marines will be OP because they get more T and W on their infantry and hit on better values.
It's meaningless without points.

Yea but regardless of term it's still pre-pre-order. Wondering if this is gw's way of stinging those who do it too openly.
