After 20+ years, I doubted many original cast would be involved. That is quite a good number, considering.
I'll hold out hope that this is up to the legacy B5 has left since the series.

Time travel was always there, but realities is a new thing, IIRC. Odd, but we'll have to find out.

There was the B4 alt reality where the Shadows were winning which the main cast changed

That was a closed loop that they always affected- if they hadn't done it, the Shadows winning then means they never would have existed to do it.

Efficiency is the highest virtue.

Uhm...you mean the vorlons who were one of the 2 bad guys of shadow war?

Part of fun in b5 was how vorlons appeared to be good guys but weren't.

Agreed. One of the great things about the original B5 was how self-contained the story was. It was specifically designed as a 5-season arc. There may have been some hiccups along the way but it more or less worked in that sense. That makes the revisiting of the same characters a little bit odd, but understandable from a money POV.

4 season arc. Fifth season was entirely unplanned and saddled with unreasonable demands and changes from the new network. Its really weird after the definitive epilogue episode in season 4.

Ah. Well, my enthusiasm just vanished in puff of alternate realities, time travel and replacement voice actors.

5. It was meant to be 5 but series faced cancellation which is why they tried to wrap up early. Originally season 4 was supposed to end in interrogation episode.

Then it got renewed. And then hotel misplaced jms's binder that had original notes for s5 so jms had to build all from scratch and come up about 3 episodes worth of stuff as end of civil war got hastened by about 3 episodes.

Studio didn't do demands for s5. That started with crusade.

Also fans generally overestimate how much s4 had to be tightened. Jms noted sheridan being interrogated was supposed to be s4 finale. And after that there would have 1 more episode. Overall structure of s5 would been same. Telepath crisis and centauri bombing would still been done. It's pacing that got messed.

Also Ivanova actress quitting meant replacement needed to be introduced. That might have been avoidable but renewal was confirmed so late at about last possible moment actors had to accept new contracts without much thinking/negotiaton time and Ivanova's actress wasn't comfortable with sign now, fix issues later(undestandable) idea.

Of course you can disagree but not hard to decide to trust random internet name or jms himself who has been rather open about goods and bads of how series got done

I do not get excited about shows anymore as for the last decade near every reboot re imagining or straight up re creation has been utterly awful, but JMS is a bloody good writer and knows what he is doing.

So I am cautiously excited for this.

Okay that looked fun enough. Going to get it.

Sheridan's reaction hearing tachyon. Never mess with that

Good to see Zathras still sounded Zathras(unless that was old voice clips). New G'kar more obviously not old actor but probably not disturbingly so.

The Vorlons and Shadows were equally good/Evil but the Vorlons def had the better PR deparment and it looks like the same in the new show....look forward to watching though in case I am wrong,

Still not sure that whole slice of silly was jiggled about to adjust for Michael O'Hare departing, the whole shared souls/DNA thing could have been put down to the Vorlan meddling to make psykers for the next war and them giving Delenn the magic wotsit to change her

That's not to say I didn't like the show its just that part of the story was a bit of a rare fumble

I remeber reading somewhere that the original plan was that Sinclair would carry on throughout the series, fulfilling most of what happened to Sheridan as well his own storyline (Survivor of The Line, marriage to Delenn), then at the end of it all, instead of going 'beyond The Rim', he would return to B4 and then become Valen and carry on the fight in the past.

Time travel was always part of b5. Even on season 1. That was whole bablon squared point.

If you don't want time travel in b5 you are about 29 years too late.

Though you are right. Original outline didnjt have him as Valen.

Fair point, but this just seems to be jumping on the multi-verse bandwagon

Well one could say whole b5 is case of multiverse. While i liked story as is the original story sounded...creative.

Imagine after 5 seasons serie ending with Minbari destroying the Babylon 5 with everybody gunning for heroes

Who could guess ending like that?

Multiverse crap has been around since Star Trek TOS did Mirror, Mirror back in 1967. It might be hot right now, but it's not even close to being the first time in the last 60 years that it's been popular.

The only way we can ever solve anything is to look in the mirror and find no enemy

So apparently this is now available. Not that I’d have know it if I hadn’t gone looking.

It’s on Amazon Prime but it wasn’t listed on the homepage anywhere I could see, not under newly available or anything. Unfortunate to see no marketing push whatsoever. Seems likely it’ll flop with most people not noticing and as a result be the final nail in the coffin for any potential reboot - see there is no interest in this property.

What’s worse, it’s on Amazon Prime but only at an additional purchase cost. I already pay enough for my media by subscribing to a number of services so refuse to pay on top of the subscription. I guess I’ll be waiting a while til it is included in the subscription cost somewhere.

In the meantime I’d be interested to hear what people think of it if they have seen it.

it is good but the animation style is bloody awful, that is just my opinion on it of course and some may like this style, I just cannot stand it.

Other than that, good show, a recommend from me for what its worth.

Enjoyed myself. Missing voice actor replacements jar a bit but unavoidable if you want characters.

Zerg like shadows unsure.

Maybe just me but when Sheridan appeared to class room felt there should have been certain joke in reference to gag reel but maybe too niche

Animation style can be many opinions. Don"t hate on general but space battles were more jarring.

I enjoyed it. It wasn’t up there with In The Beginning, but it was better than the other B5 movies.

The writing was good in terms of dialog and basically adequate for story. The series always had some saccharine metaphysics, so I didn’t find that part as jarring as I might have. The action was decent, for what little there was—although the Shadows look and feel completely different from the series. The ships were distracting, since they didn’t move or fire like ships in the series, and the shadow ships all looked redesigned to avoid a trademark or something.

The ending implies there could be a sidequel/sideboot? if this movie is a smash it.

Yea shadow ship redesign was bit odd.

Sheridan worked. Zathras I liked barring crowd scene. Out of all replacement voice actors was most accurate I think. Delenn was most off and Sinclair felt bit off.

Surprised Marcus wasn't original actor despite still alive but sounded close enough.

Some sequences gave (deliberately I presume) good throwback to B5 story as it might have been before Sinclair left.

Always nice to hear Mollari.

Still think Sheridan after first jump should have said "What the hell? Everybody ran?" The season 4 gag reel scene just cracks me up every time.

Zathras and Garibaldi sounded more like their originals than Claudia Christian sounded like (1990’s) Claudia Christian. Delenn had trouble with the accent.

It must indeed be buried pretty well on Amazon as none of my… other sites I use to watch stuff have it yet, which is uncommon for a digital release.

OK. Litmus test.

I can get it from Amazon for £9.99.

Is that, in your opinion, a reasonable price?

Hm. $10 isn’t terrible. Roughly movie ticket price, though I don’t get to see it on The Big Screen. I don’t actually know how Amazon’s service works though.
