I kinda disliked the new one before the comparison, tbh.

I like it but looking at the comparison I have to say I wish the new model showed more chest and less foot. Although this foot is objectively better than the one the Sisters got for their statue terrain.

Yeah, I dislike the foot too! I prefer the body disappearing into it's cloak, making it easy to imagine it's not really there. The foot makes it less ephemeral.

As usual, the sculpting and technical detail of the new model is great, but the dynamism/pose and overall direction misses the mark for me.

It's a weird selection of models.

The turnaround on the plastic ones from new release to MTO and probably never seen again in only a few years is pretty crazy.

Might pick up a webway portal or two, didnt even realize they were cut from the game. Def picking up some of the plastic noise marines w the guitar bolter, prolly use them as unit leaders lol.

Im pretty sure he was made for finecast so probably pretty small. Fancy to see him in metal. Great to have a huge chunk of metal hide tipping the model over

I always wanted a Webway portal (or two: the heads on the statues ar excellent conversion pieces on Wraithlords.

Check this thread- dude made Wraithlords to conform to Aspects:

https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/376080-aspect-warrior-wraithlords

There is another thread in the B&C Aeldari forum where the poster shows off Lords for more Aspects, but I can't find it. The link above will give you the idea though.

(Should have bookmarked it!)

I think I'm also grabbing the Noise Marines- I have a bunch of the 2nd ed, but I'd like a full unit of 10, plus that dude with the screaming backpack; they'd be part of a small throwback group that also includes the old HR Giger looking chaos dread.

The plastic Noise Marine would work with my modern EC force.

Wow, the heads on the WWG are astoundingly good. I never noticed that before.

I picked up all the Warlock and Farseer I'll ever need already, and Iprobably got them for cheaper than what those will sell for! They were relatively easy to find for about 10$ each, and from the picture I'm only missing the top right Farseer one. But I don't think I need another, the 3 or 4 I already have will do

The noise marines are super interesting though! Not gonna collect those (price dependent), but love the sculpt!

Fantasy armies - Retired (Tomb Kings, Vampires, Empire, Chaos Warriors/Daemons, Dark Elves)

Tyranids army - Ever evolving, but about 10k pts
Custodes - 3,500pts (Fully painted yay!)
Thousand Sons - 4,000 pts
Eldar - 3,000pts

It's a good reminder that I still need to get some paint on mine...

Meanwhile, seeing Lukas the Trickster promoted as a 'classic' model is painful for multiple reasons. And I don't think I've even seen that Wolf Guard battle standard model before...

Love the Sarah Jessica Parker model... or is it Julia Roberts?

That joke wasn't that bad... Seriously, why the long face?

... I do like it when they bring back older models... I hope the bring back some of the old Commissars!

Normally not interested in the MTO stuff, but having recovered my 3rd Edition Eldar army from my parents attic last year, it's tempting to pick up some of the models I didnt have back then.

Hmm that warlock council is tasty looking. Reminds me of the white dwarf where we got the "non-canon" ending of Eldred and his gang killing Abby in the jungle. That was a good bat-rep.

Wonder how many kidneys I'll need to sell to buy it.

At the time they rationalized it that a tabletop "kill" was more an incapacitation (much like how players can rationalize the "deaths" of any character on the table), and the end of battle report fluff had the Chaos gods whisking Abaddon away just as Eldrad's staff was about to pierce his throat. In typical GW fashion of robbing the Eldar of any victory, they also made it that Eldrad's personal survival and victory actually set things moving along a bad timeline Eldrad did not actually want, with Abaddon then unleashing the 13th Black Crusade. It's not exactly not canon as there is nothing explicitly contradicting that battle report even in the current background, even if it is not directly mentioned.

Highly tempted by the phoenix lord bundle, they're not the most expensive on the 2nd hand market, but still around £20 a piece, so MTO is very welcome there.

I still have my lead rogue trader farseer from 30 years ago, but it's great to see it re-released, will check out the price before seeing if I want that set since the old warlocks are still fairly common.

It'd all be for 2nd edition gaming, which seems to be undergoing a bit of a renaissance recently, it properly scratches the retro itch in a way that later editions didn't quite, I view it as the first actually playable edition of 40k in that it resembles the structure of the game we have today. And nowadays there's 3d prints of all the card terrain pieces and scratch builds featured in white dwarf.

Hardly need any minis at all to play 2nd edition eldar, and I can still buy the 2nd edition falcon and vyper as new kits, so it's already quite an accessible choice, with this MTO making it even easier.

It wasn't non-canon. Abaddon teleported away when 'killed' in-game by Eldrad. It was referenced briefly during the Eye of Terror campaign.

Being referenced again in a now non-canon event doesn't support the canonicity like you think it does.

The primary challenge is points across the Knight codexes went just a little too low on average, enabling too many large knights and vehicle chassis to be present on the battlefield. This creates a punishing experience if you aren't explicitly building your army to deal with that many lethal threats with high toughness and wounds.

Has it occoured to anyone on the design team that Imperial Knight players cannot take an all-Armiger force? We have no choice but to bring at least one large knight to every game, unless of course it's Combat Patrol. For Incursion games this is ridiculous.

Yet right now, Chaos Knight players can quite happily run Huntsman/Executioner Incursions, so we have to use the Chaos Knights codex to make this possible.

Casual gaming, mostly solo-coop these days.

There are a lot of Imperial Knight issues that are a result of the codex being disastrously delayed unfortunately.

Four of us from my group played at the Lone Star Open and got to see the new Death Guard for the first time.

Yeah, they needed a points adjustment. According to today's Goonhammer article, the LSO winner's list went up 245 points! Let's hope that tones down some of those lists.

This will not change the # of big knights I field in my CK Iconiclast Fiefdom....

Because my whole intent is to run 1x Castigator & 2 Lancers.
All that'll happen is I shelve a Karnivore to pay the extra 90pts.
The remaining 50 pts will just become another unit of Cultists.
Few to none of my opponents will rejoice that I'm now down 1 Karnivore.
Oh no, I go from a killy thing that often was doing actions/secondaries anyways to a squad who'll almost always be on action/secondary duty & occasionally doing some damage.....

Nor will GW profit as I already have all the extra figs I need to make Cult Squad #4.

Yeah the points changes dont really reduce the number of chaos knights you could field unless you were spamming abominants or maybe if you were utilizing dominus/cerastus/acastus knights. Otherwise you can basically fiekd the same number of questoris chassis, just with less points for support.

Well, a 6 big knights list is impossible now. Having one dip below 335 opened up some weird things.

With the Abominant at 325 and Desecrator/Despoiler/Rampager at 335, it only took 1 Abominant to get 6 Knights in your list if you take only these 4 hulls. Take 3 Abominants and you can squeeze in Ruinator into your 6. This seems like a Quantity is a Quality type of list.

New points means you will never see 6 big Knights in a 2K List, nor a crazy 5 Knight Tyrant list either.
