As a follow-on to the How was your 2023 thread...

I'm hoping that GW will release the TSons, GK and Chaos Knights codexes. The only miniatures currently on my wish list are new GK Terminators (they're a dead cert right?), but if they release a new Chaos Knight I could be interested. Other than that I want to paint all my TSons characters and get in as many games of 40k as possible.

What's on your auspex for 2024?

Dystopian Wars, One Page Rules, Turnip28, Dracula's America, Man o War, Adeptus Titanicus, MESBG, Horus Heresy. Off the top of my head.

Well…I think this morning’s community reveal might see me doing Dark Angels across three systems.

More cool terrain.

2024 I’m going to be focusing on my backlog of painting. Both my main armies already had their 10th codexes drop, so I’m not expecting much new to tempt me. Might get into KT.

Chipping away at my 3rd co primaris, not going to finish in 2024, but would like to get halfway to completion.

Painting a lot of nids. They go fast, but share space with the rest of my projects.

I’d like to get more games in, but need to spend more time at a FLGS and work harder on engaging socially.

Most of my hobby goals are going to be the same as this year.

Got a lot of Admech from the Hatchet Imperium magazine, together with the new combat patrol im looking to build a fun army. Maybe restricted on boarding actions, I have a ton of scitarii but don't want to pay for the tanks.

Going to continue the organization of my hobby room. It'll never be a room to actually game in, I just have too much stuff to be able to fit a gaming table in there.

And work on the backlog. I've mostly sat out this past year from the hobby. Still bought lots of kits throughout the year for Votann, Marines (both 40K and 30K), and some Necrons. Need to actually assemble all the stuff, and then paint.

The last 3 years I pretty much focused on Orks until I realized a couple of months ago that they're now a larger force than the Daemons I've started about 7 years ago... So I want to reduce my backlog of Daemons mostly.
And want to work my human Oathmark army that is made of lotr easterlings and Fireforge Samurai.

Finishing my Beakies army in the "collecting infantry" dept.

Possibly statrting collecting LI

Waiting to see if KT21 2nd edition will be evolutionary rather than revolutionary, as I dont think the game needs big changes tbh

Mostly advance on the painting, finishing my few guards left, and then onto my bolt action US army.

As far as gaming goes, finish our ongoing narrative campaigns (2).

Also waiting eagerly for the STALKER board game to drop, announced april 2024.

Hoping to get my mutants and remaining demons done, and then free up a weekend sometime to do a big Siege of Terra game with my buddy. Not too worried about "historical accuracy", I've got a scenery set I can make into a big wall, a bunch of Word Bearers, Cultists, Mutants and Demons to invade and a bunch of Crimson Fists, Imperial Guard and Mechanicus to man the walls.

We'll see if it works out! I also want to get started on my Tyranids. I've got them pretty much all assembled, just need to base them and prime them and then crack out the contrast paints.

If I'm really on it, I might get my Tau stuff assembled, but I doubt it'll get painted realistically, because I also plan on doing some fantasy stuff too.

For 2024:

Gaming:
As much as possible, whatever the system.

Building:
40k wise I've got plenty of stuff across multiple factions to finish up.
KT - I need to get some terrain made.
LI - Build starter box, build terrain.
Bolt Action - Build the rest of my Italians
MCP - Build about 15 figures
Moonstone - finish building my goblin force
Continue building through my backlog of stuff (stuff owned for more than 1 year)

Painting:
I think 2024 will be heavily devoted to painting.
It will begin with Legion Imperiales & Epic Waterloo (by Warlord)

Maybe not the right place for wish listing but I’ll do it anyway: I’m hoping for plastic Catachans. A Catachan Devil unit hopefully, though I’d settle for whatever, assuming it doesn’t turn out as ugly as the current Catachan infantry box.

I was convinced they would come in a Kill Team box alongside plastic Lictors. That didn’t happen so who knows when we’ll see the Devils? 2024 would be nice.

I've got 32 models mostly finished that I might be able to get across the finish line before the new year starts- 10 Kabalites, 10 Battle Sisters, 10 Dominions, a Palatine and a Canoness.

Once they're done, I want to do my Haemonculus and Wracks (5). I want to finish my Wych Cult Arena and play in January- I have to play the Wyches to grow the Army.

I also have 12 Genestealer Purestrains and a Patriarch that need to get finished.

That's the bare minimum. I will continue to putter on those three armies (Drukhari, Sisters, GSC)- I have a ton of models still in boxes for all of them.

But if I'm living the dream, I'll finish two boxes of Gallowdark Terrain and start my Craftworld force.

I got a new airbrush, but it has very bad compressor so I need new one...

When it arrives I will start to repaint old models! I find so many things about Big 40k that I just can't like now so I'm gonna play mostly Kill Team, so to get my painting back to scratch I stripped down old models I can't use in Kill Team.
I got some Screamers, Windriders, cool old metal Assassins and Inquisitorial model like Coteaz & his retinue, I started to repaint them now without airbrush but will use these for practise when new compressor comes. Maybe I even will assemble the metal Celestine I bought ten years ago...

I am also very sad to say I found my old Warp Spiders, they are Finecast and it is so horrible but the paintjob is very terrible & need to change. I really don't want to touch them but I like painting Aspect Warriors and want they should look good, but even still I don't look forward to that job lol.

Then I'm gonna repaint models I CAN use in Kill Team! I got 30-some old metal Kasrkins who I really like & want to use, and some metal Sisters I can use, and I find one box of Pink Horrors I didn't even remember I had so I gotta build them first...

Once they are done I will start to work on the Pile Of Shame I acquired over last 2 months since I come back to this hobby lol - I got more Guardians, Dire Avengers and Rangers, then I got plastic Sisters with new detail, and Novitiates, and finally I got some Wyches and Kabalites.

Finally I want to get Genestealer Cults Kill Team, but I have a lot of project already & I don't know if there will be space... 2025 maybe?

I'm still holding out hope that we'll get a plastic Fire Raptor / Storm Eagle kit. Otherwise just waiting for Fulgrim to be released.for 40k.

DW, LI/old-Epic, HH, Infinity, various RPG/wargame hybrid experiments, MCP. Don't really engage with 40k on the tabletop anymore unless it can be rebuilt as 30k but with xenos. Combined Army and Heresy Dark Angels are at the front of the painting queue at the moment.

Nothing too heavy for January, as I should be mostly packing to move house (assuming vendor's sols aren't any more of pain), though I can probably work on some more Warriors while that is all going on. Actually move and start to unpack in Feb.

After that? I want to look at getting an airbrush (and associated gear - if anyone has a reasonable set of suggestions for a beginner's set of kit, I'm all ears). As mentioned, there'll be Battletech Mercenaries at some point in the year, so I should sort out a scheme (or schemes) for Clan and IC mechs, and get any BT stuff I've already picked up painted out of the way.

I'll try for the ol' "paint more than I buy" goal for GW stuff, but we'll see if that happens (for once...)

That's probably a good target for 2024. I'm even on that for 2023, but it wasn't the two miniatures I bought that I painted...

I hope to paint my Legion Imperialis stuff more or less as I go along.

I had pretty much given up on 40k, then today they release a teaser of next year and I see a Kroot riding something giving me hope that I can resurrect my old White Dwarf era Kroot army. Here is to hoping that 2024 sees an expanded Kroot army!

Otherwise I am probably going to focus on painting all the models from the Monster Hunter World board game. Lovely detailed models of some of the coolest monsters from the series.

Probably mostly playing Battletech. Also aiming to finish painting the final few boxes of my BT terrain.

I've started making an effort to purchase some of the GW kits I've admired from the past few years but didn't bother buying (due to not wanting to deal with the preorder rushes and not being excited to play any of the games at the moment). Mostly putting it into storage pending a renewed interest in Necromunda and/or the inevitable Mordheim relaunch. Grabbed the Cursed City reprint, an Exaction Squad, and the Sanctioner Automata so far.

On that note, can anyone help me figure out the proper name of a kit from the last year or two? I remember it being previewed and released but not the specifics, and the new GW website is unpleasant to sift through. Might have been a Kill Team release, might have been 40K, slim chance it was AoS (but I think not).

It was definitely for a Chaos faction. It came with a group of models who were not all the same sort of guy. Two or more of the models were greatsword-wielding guys with ornate armour and masks. One of the models was a little more techy, maybe some sort of scribe or herald guy, I think he was holding a scroll or a book and might have had a voxcaster face-implant kind of deal. Ring any bells?

iirc the last time the addressed it was about a month ago during a PAX stream, where they predicted March fulfillment.

Early Summer/Late Spring is my guess. the general estimate is "Juneish"
