Update #74
1/17/2025 11:56 AM
IT'S HERE!
Update #74
The final sprue, or should I say sprues for the Damned Mauler are off to tooling!
This one has me excited! Yes, probably more than all of the others. Not just because it is awesome but because this represents the end of the design process and the final piece of the puzzle.

Now I'll stop wasting words and get right to it!

There you have it! In all of their glory. It can be built with an open topped or enclosed rear compartment and comes with multiple weapons options for the front hull mounted gun.

Sorry for the short and sweet update but I wanted to get this done and out to you as soon as possible!

I'll be back soon with a production update but rest assured everything is moving along nicely.

Best wishes to you all

Charlie

Nice to see that if you did not want the extended driver area you can just skip adding that part.

Are there any new shots of the whole model? I've only seen the old grey render.

I'd say these two-handed weapons and unaugmented heads wouldn't look too out of place in a fantasy setting, no?

First impression: awesome options, full of character
Second impression: are all pistols left- /all CCWs right-handed?

I wish the guns had a bit more detail but it's not a deal breaker

looks like a mix of an miniUzi and a MAC10, leanong more to the MAC10 in style. both firearms that don't exactly have a ton of details breaking up their boxy shape. so not sure it would matter.

I like what I see. Between the Quar and the Damned, WA is going some great work.

I'll likely be purchasing some of these.

I think I just got two sprues as part of my pledge, for the weapon options. Might use a couple bodies for furry mutants in post-apoc someday, butotherwise not interested in sci-fi beastmen. Great sculpts tho.

Sci-Fi Beastmen are great!

Some fancier guns would have been nice, but even so that's a fantastic looking kit.

I am really liking these Beastmen. There is so many possibilities with the 'mix n match' of the Damned range.
Keep up the great work WGA.

I don't even play sci-fi games but I'll be getting a box of those beastmen. The look great and like an easy conversion to fantasy needs.

One thing where WGA is knocking it outta the park! They're making kits that appeal to a wider range of hobbyists to maximize use of said kit.

I like these more and more with every reveal. So glad I swapped these into my pledge.

Does seem like a slight oversight to not make it possible for all the miniatures to have a gas mask. I could be missing something, but it looks like only 5 of 6 can be masked.

To my chagrin, at this point it seems like a theme that every WGA kit will have one or two commonly-used options for a given miniature set that are impossible to apply across the entire kit. In addition to Gas-Masked heads it to be the same for double-handed CCWs. At least we have enough to give single-handed CCWs and/or pistols to each figure. My question would be whether we needed 9 single handed CCW's but only 3 double-handed CCW's.

Fantasy is definitely where most of mine will probably end up. I think these will fill a nice niche in the market for both fantasy and Sci-Fi beastmen.

those both had mags in the grip. This has mags attaching to the middle of the frame. Still, the style of these does remind me of something of a combination of the Uzi-ish autopistols that were so common in original Necromunda and the more current autopistol designs.

After seeing these it makes me really hope that WGA comes back and does a Damned mutants set. Those just messed being reached during the campaign if I remember correctly.

IIRC there was a poll. It had Beastmen, Heavy troopers and the mutant sprue. Beastmen and Heavy troopers took 1 and 2... (dont remember which order) so they put one as a stretch and then the other as the stretch after that. Mutant sprue took last so was kind of just stopped talking about until close to the end.

I checked my order. Got 1 box of beastmen and 3 sprues of beastmen... I think there are 4 to a box... so 7 sprues in my order. Kind of wish I had gotten more now.

I'll always feel like I should added more to my order but I'm already swimming in traitor Solar Aux & Militia. So I forced myself to refrain(very un-Slanesshi) and kinda regret it.

Looks like it has Uzi-style sights (sight guards, anyway), a boxy rear reminiscent of the MAC-10 (or -11), and a magazine and grip somewhat similar to the Jatimatic, or maybe a TEC-9 with a shortened magazine well. So a blend of the 'greatest hits' of 1980s SMG design, which is absolutely perfect for these guys.

You are indeed correct! I fully admit they fit into the current fully fleshed out 40k universe but they were a cool aspect to the earlier RT era wild west of the universe! I'm just glad the ogryns didn't get culled with the squats for multiple decades prior to their glorious return.

from the looks of things the beastmen arms will be pretty similar to the arms on the sprues for the various human troops, so you ought to be able to make SMG+CCW human infantry by mixing sprues, as well as give the beastmen those AK style rifles.

WGA roundup of 2024, and plans for 2025
https://wargamesatlantic.com/blogs/news/statum-atlanticum-mmxxv

pulling out a few snippits

"OTHER" PRODUCTS

Besides hard plastic sets and games we have a bunch of products in the "Other" category coming out this year. We've developed some interesting hobby tools specifically for hard plastic that we think will make your lives easier. We also have some amazing waterslide transfers in the works with original designs by the very talented Steve Beckett. And there are going to be a few other surprises coming in the "Other" category as well starting in March!

More than anything, 2024 was the year of the Quar! We partnered with Joshua Qualtieri of ZombieSmith (and Strange Plastic) to take his lovable and iconic Quar to hard plastic. Starting with the This Quar’s War: Clash of Rhyfles game we have followed up with three hard plastic sets and at writing have seven more in progress with even more to come after those! 2025 will see all these sets and more as the world of the Quar expands across dozens of hard plastic sets and more games.

We have also secured our first license for a popular television series that is fertile ground for a wargame. Contracts are signed and plans are made and work is starting. But that’s something for another day!

And 2025 will see the launch of models in a completely new scale from us. We're not talking about the 1/1200 Expanse ships (see below) and we're definitely not talking about "those nasty little 15s" or even the ridiculous 13.5mm figures! So stay tuned!

Combining two of 2025’s focuses (foci?) is the range and game for 10mm Classic Fantasy Battles! Our first set, Orc Infantry, is done tooling and the box is getting ready. Dwarven Infantry, Skeletons, and Elves will follow along soon with many other sets this year culminating in the launch of a massively small new game. You’ll be hearing a lot about that in the lead up to the release as Andy discusses gameplay, army building, and more.

OTHER GRAND BATTLE SCALE GAMES

We have three other games in the works for the Grand Battle Scale ranges. One is in partnership with the fine folks at Helion and we’ll be announcing that in the near future. Another is the brainchild of Battlegames founder Henry Hyde. And the third one is well into play testing in the wilds of Cornwall!

That's a very good point. Folks who have bought into the crowdfunding will probably have enough options to convert these in a number of ways.

In addition to 4 additions to my Guard ( Riders, Ogryn, Artillery and Beastmen) I'm looking forward to my 3-box pledge bringing me an enormous amount of sprues and bits for future conversions.

That is a lot of stuff and SKUs. I hope they are not overstretching themselves. This is a common issue with growing companies that often leads to pre-mature closures.

Pretty sure they made all the new plastics for DFC, and probably some for DZC. They’re also making plastics for a few other games that don’t show up under Wargames Atlantic. That’s a solid foundation to build on and even take some risks. If the 10mm game bombs, for example, they should be able to absorb that loss.
