I didn't say otherwise so I'm not sure how "well they did it differently for other directors films" makes sense as a response? If anything it just further contrasts how odd it is that they seem to be putting very little effort into marketing this one. All I did was try to come up with possible reasons why the marketing seems to be nonchalant about it's own product.

I wasn’t arguing with you. I was agreeing by expressing my confusion about OBAA’s marketing. I guess it did not come across in text.

I swear that my local movie theater shows new movies when the theater is closed to the public.
Every time I go there, new movies are coming soon or I just missed them.

I’ve a story about that sort of thing.
Many many many moons ago, during t’dark times of my life? I wound up working at my local cinema for a period.
Job itself wasn’t bad a low paid drudge work went. For the most part.
But as a cinephile I was outraged that it ran Meet The Fockers week after week after week after week after week, to ever more diminishing returns.
A low rent, not very funny, cookie cutter “oooer title sounds a bit rude, shame that’s about the limit of the laffs” movie.
It outstayed its welcome, as most showings maybe had a handful of peeps.
Around the same time? Downfall, the often memed German language film about the last day’s in Hitler’s Bunker was released.
The cinema I worked in showed it…….once. A phenomenal, no holds barred bit of historical film making aired once. Dime a dozen crapshoot Ben Stiller skidmark of a comedy movie? Week upon week.
It’s a gak game, working in a cinema.

I worked in a movie theater for a bit... it was back when Star Trek Insurrection was out... so it's been a couple days.
My only glorious story I can tell was our company was changing from United Artists to Regal Cinema.
We got new uniforms and some new training... and then we were told we needed to share this new training with some new employees who would be replacing us.
So, we did what all passive-aggressive employees do... We trained them wrong.
They would work for a couple days, mess up the till or something else, management would look at us and we would lie (yes, we trained them on all the proceedures) and keep our jobs for another month.
After 6 months of this, the higher-ups finally caught on.
But during this whole time, I think I watched one movie... I was so sick of that theater, I wouldn't even watch free movies.
(Oh, and if you go into a Regal Cinema, do not eat the pickles.)

A new Anaconda film, but it's not quite like the others...

Ice Tower is an upcoming magical realism/dark fantasy movie that looks …fun?
The review embargo for One Battle After Another dropped, and it’s getting rave reviews. 98 RT and 97 Metacritic. Looks like a serious contender for Best Picture.
It’s a shame the trailers made it look so off-putting.
Jack Black as a movie director in search of a much larger than normal terrestrial creature in a jungle. I think I've seen this one already!

Somethng was a bit off and then I realized that Jack Black finally shaved that godawful beard. It only grew horizontally and not vertically, and that don't make no sense! Looked like a soft, pink dilophosaurus.

Night Patrol just dropped a dynamite poster with the tagline “Defang the Police”. Starting Justin Long, Jermaine Fowler, Freddie Gibbs and Dermot Mulroney.
As for this weekend, both Him and Big Bold Beautiful Journey are getting absolutely slaughtered by movie critics.
I’ve seen this quote from a HIM review going around, and thought it was worth sharing.
Him immediately creates a vibe of “uh oh.” And that’s not the good kind of “uh oh,” like “uh oh, this is scary.” This is “uh oh” like when a diaper-wearing toddler hides behind the couch for a minute.
They just announced an upcoming movie featuring Olivia Spencer and Jessica Chastain, Deck the Y’alls
I know, I know. We’re all thinking it. It’s gotta be a Spike Lee movie about the SPLC’s antifa chapter. But it’s not!
Here’s the description:
Deck the Y’alls follows Rachel Stein (Chastain), a savvy New York baker who can roll with anything, until she falls for Beau, a younger Southern gentleman, and heads to Charleston to spend Christmas with his family. But overprotective matriarch Gladys Gibbes (Spencer) is a true steel magnolia whose massive celebrity-chef persona will take all of Rachel’s bless-her-heart best to survive. The pic, which is set in Charleston, SC, will lens next year.
Oh. Huh. This is much less exciting.
Wait…
Deck the Y’alls follows Rachel Stein
Deck the Y’alls … Rachel Stein
Oh dear.

It sounded like “deck” as in “punch” and “Y’all’s” as in the kind of charged term a Spike Lee character might use to refer to extremists, as in “Y’all quaeda”. Then I overthought the stupid joke and added the SPLC and antifa to sort of shore up the dumb puns.
I’m not at my best right now.
Automatically Appended Next Post: But the “punch” meaning of deck was the first to come to my mind, so it took me a moment to get the Christmas pin title.

Looks like an interesting take on The Bride of Frankenstein...

The Bride! is scheduled to be released in the United States on March 6, 2026.It was previously scheduled for release on October 3, 2025 and September 26, 2025.
Sounds like it was pushed out of the Halloween season by other projects (Leonardo DiCaprio's One Battle After Another and The Batman 2).

Ok, that looks like a very different take on the story. Intriguing that they’ve set it in the 20s or early 30s. (Also, at what point do we have to start specifying 1920s and not 2020s? God, I feel old.)

Never saw the first, but it looks like a decent adventure jaunt through a landscape that's experiencing every type of apocalypse.

One is One Battle After Another, auteur Paul Thomas Anderson’s first crowd-pleasing blockbuster, with the highest critical scores since Parasite.
The other is Gabby’s Dollhouse, a movie for children based on a Netflix show about talking toys or some gak.
Guess which movie got an A+ Cinemascore.
Go on, guess.
It was Gabby’s Dollhouse.
OBAA only got the same, lower, Cinemascore as forgettable flicks like Shrek 2, The Last Wish and The Wild Robot.
Gabby’s Dollhouse is the first movie post pandemic to receive an A+ Cinemascore without the help of Jesus.
So... what are the odds that someone from this forum sees Gabby's Dollhouse in the theater?
