Status update: I've built the middle bit. June was not a very productive month for me, miniatures-wise.

Keep procrastinating and when I’m asking for topics for August pitch something that will cover it and cram a whole semester project into the final hours like you were back in high school.

I really need to pick up one of those guys at some point. Such a cool model, but so far away from the theme of my Eldar.

“Getting mud on your boots is for lesser species”. So I try to keep everyone on a bike, in a transport, or on the wing. So guys just walking up the field is not the vibe I’m going for. Although I’ve picked up some wraithlords over the years, so it’s not like I don’t have other units that stomp around. But in general I lean into fast units that zip around. Pic is a little out of date

Can we at the end of month 3 ask for an extra month instead of an extra day?
Working on two things at once is really hard here -_-
Just finished 'footslogger' challenge 2nd model (out of 5) and already looking at the days flying by this month so quickly..
August is going to be the busiest month of the year for me, both summerjob, two family birthdays (including my own), a vacation trip and extra work on my land (watering my plants more often alone) will make it hard to work on two challenges at once that month.
Dakka is like a second job for me now, or a third.
Can I get payed?
I need to clone myself..
Maybe I should let a tech priest install a third arm to paint with.. hmmm..

If you figure out how to get paid for this let me know. So far the only perk I got for all the stuff I do on Dakka is a free lamp.
I set the end date for Labor Day (sep 2nd this year) and we can talk about extensions closer to the time. I might be able to push it to an extra couple days, but not a whole month unfortunately.
Time management is kicking me as well. Still havn’t put paint down on this month’s mini.
Keep plugging away!

Is it a warhammer lamp though?

I was kindof joking but yeah august will be gnarly, I'm hoping to -atleast- this month get all the bulbous stuff done on the big bro, and then just pick a super minimal entry for august itself so I have the time to finish the little bros.

I forget the name of the company. A few years ago (6ish?) they reached out to a handful of posters here and offered free lamps if we would write a review and post it in a thread here.
Swing arms with build in magnifier. They had a couple options we could choose from.
I do like the light/lens set up. Some people like goggles, but I like the arm. Takes a little getting used to though.
Summer is always twitchy with things pulling us AFK and distracting us. I know I’m loosing a week both this month and next, maybe more.

Just spit balling? But perhaps, if you can find a spare pair, wings from The Void Dragon and a little reposing might suit?

Well, I may have gotten over my head because I've only primed my Mr Tater Ead Stompa, and I caught a something last week. So I've been drinking fluids, resting, and generally feeling like crud and not doing anything. The stompa's a BIG model, and even in my tip-top shape, I don't think I can do it in 3 months. When/ If it's done, I'll post pics, but I'm just saying right now not looking so good.

I finally figured out what I want to enter for this challenge. I'm going to paint Ionus Cryptborn on his dragon. Here's my proof:
This model will be a nice change of pace, and a lot of the lessons I learned painting other big models in the past (like my Bloodthirster from, good God, EIGHT years ago!) will come in handy. The rider, base, and dragon are all separate for painting, I just put them together for the photo. This should make a suitable centerpiece for my Stormcast Eternals army. Wish me luck!

Progress with the base!
Did some enamel weathering with streaking grime, rust streaks and "track rust" pigments.
Unfortunately the pigment fixer ruined the first iteration with a glossy finish. Had to go back with some white spirit and more pigment powder.
And the the beastie downstairs. Some slime will be added with UHU glue.
Quite close to getting the model done!

I didn't get anything done since the last update. Motivation has dropped off and I'm a bit short on time. It's not easy to justify spending what time I have on a model that I'm so ambivalent about.
I'll see if I can get it read for painting before the end of the month. Any later and I'm not sure there's enough time left for painting.

Losing motivation on a model is unfortunate, but it happens.
Whenever I encounter this, I try to combat it with a few different techniques:
- Try to paint another area of the model. Try to finish a small section to motivate yourself.
- Find inspiring artwork or stories about the subject matter. Like in your case and the Frogemoth, look at an old D&D adventure "Expedition to the Barrier Peaks" and see if that sparks some new inspiration!
- Search for a fitting soundtrack. At least for me, listening to a thematic music will get the brain wired right and the urge to paint emerges!
- Decide to use the model as an experiment for a new technique. Use it as an opportunity to learn something new instead of trying to make it "the best you can do".
- Paint something else for a while. It can be something very small that you can finish in a single session. That might get you back on track.
If all else fails, it might be time to cut the losses and put the model down. But don't beat yourself up over it. It happens to all of us. Certainly for me. On many occasions.
