This month I plan to make some experiments with painting using artistic oil paints. I plan to paint the Eversor Assasin:

The month is young. We don’t have all the entries yet. And while some might fight for the podium, while some of of fight for “not last” we all fight the good fight against the Pile of Shame and the Grey Menace.

I guess my quest will be the fight for the holy "not last" again then.

I've even been looking for a better camera but those run into the 1K pricerange -_-
But I am upping my darn game now on these harlequin, patterns are difficult but rewarding.

So I am in a pickle. Doing all this and I get to complimentary colors. I'm doing my majenta trademark within the horses cloth. But my main question that may over ride it all is......

what would Nagash's favorite color be??? Please do not list shades.(black, white, grey)

I think he’s mostly been done with deep low saturated blue. Also in richer prurple.

Sponge (the type you use for cleaning with soft side and rough side) soft side' dipped in shade of choice till somewhat dry, then tapping, I personally call it peppering.

Was actually not preintended, but I used a varnish that was a bit too thick (dried) on still slightly uncured first layer which had me start over, so used rough side sponge to take away some of that paint and then just thought to work with it and pepper the hue back on with soft side, added some grey to the paint for different shades and peppered it again, redid the crevix linework with the original hue. Planning to add checkered pattern and maybe some decals/transfers later but waiting for the new bottle of ardcoat because the old bottle ruins everything it touches now.

I always have the problem with my army painter matte varnishes. I thought it was just how they were.

Well for an accident you sure made it look intentionally awesome. Good job. Thanks for the sponge tip! It literally looks like an active camo

Thanks for the comments I'm also excited how it will turn out, unfortunately when I wanted to start painting I found out my white spirit has evaporated over months. I plan a trip to artists store to buy new one today.
I prepared two minis to paint with oil, but the other one doesn't fit the theme so well. It is Eirene from this music video made in Heroforge, proof under the spoiler. Can I enter with both figures?

Generally if entering multiple models they should have a connection/relations. They seem different , but I’m not going to tell you no. anyone stepping out of a nordic metal video should be at home in 40k with cyborg assassins.

It's also a good way to make decal look worn, like when you put on a wet transfer, then in the same hue/paint as the part you put that on you you pepper it slightly with a sponge and it looks like its weathered.

I'm making good progress on Granny Palps. I might even finish him this weekend, which is very welcome. I don't expect to get much painting time in the next few weeks.

Right, I've managed to get this giant beast primed

This can only be worked on in secret as it's for my eldest's birthday. So I might managed to get it done, though the mask makers are there too.

Lol true enough

Monstrous Stryx required a monstrous amount of green stuff gap filling. I mean the pieces are reasonably well cast, but 2 hrs filling gaps and sculpting fur was not on my agenda today. I mean, it's not like this is forge world. So no painting progress alas.

Granny Palps is done, and with him the third model this year I used to play around with ways to make black look pleasing. Go experimentation!

I'm starting to think that this is the approach I like best. A fair few layers of preshading with two watered down dark grey washes and a selective black one to round it off. The robe has a blue base, while his shiny cane has a brown one. I'm going to have to try that on armor down the line as well.

And with 32mm mini (and full size banana) for scale

The qualm with this comparisan is that miniature bananas exist, how can we be sure that that is a full sized banana?

People have different sized feet, but we accept that 12” is what we use for measurement. The banana is an accepted internet measurement. I think you can order an official artificial one if you want to have one that won’t need to be made into banana bread if you let it sit around to long.

I there a metric equivelent? I just don’t see centa-nanas, or kilo-nanas as a measurement. Just “a banana” or a “bunch of bananas” for measuring large things.

I also sometimes buy bananas and they are rather small (but not miniature) bananas, then sometimes I see bananas that (likely water-laden) are quite large even for banana standards.

I would think putting a ruler next to the mini is a better solution than a banana, however one can also add a ruler next to a banana.
I don't think there are miniature rulers.. hmm.. maybe I am wrong.

“Banana for scale” is an old meme, but still in circulation. It’s not supposed to be accurate, just humorous.

I know you can get novelty pencils and pennies is different sizes if you want to use them for “scale” pictures. I would not be surprised if you could get off-scale rulers for the same job.

Off-scale rulers sounds like something a villain would design

A true villain would design one that is fine for the first few cm/inches... and then starts varying *ever so slightly* for each cm/inch thereafter so it all *looks* about right, but isn't

Anyway. Some progress on the sump beast!
