And I’ve spoke with the roofer, and looks like they can start the replacement on 25 August.
Which means the job should be done well before the crappy English winter kicks in.

Are winters bad in Northern France?
Here winter means no more shorts and it might get down to 54°.

It….depends.
Last few have been fairly mild, but they’re typically very much rain, rain and more rain.
With a 25 August start, it should be done by the start of September. Including new insulation stuff.

Congrats on the house, MDG. A proper achievement, and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a smidge jealous. I'm sorry it had to come off the back off such an unpleasant, if inevitable, situation.
For my own little win today, I found a chap selling David Eddings entire collection of works on a trading site, which I promptly snapped up. Not bad for $5 a book.

I wish I could read David Eddings books, but those novels are tied to some really gakky memories.
On the plus side, I went shopping yesterday and bought myself some new shorts. I'm down to a 34 waist, from the 42 that I started with last year.

Thanks. Diet & Exercise are not my favorite words. I'm still trying to figure out when these so-called endorphins are supposed to kick in and make me enjoy biking up hills.
On another minor win, I have everything I need to play Kill Team... now I just have to put it together and paint it.

Busy day today.
Been on the phone arranging transfer of broadband, energy and council tax to my new home.
For my next trick, the same with my water companies. And this time you goddam better believe I’ve getting a proper water meter installed.

House Move Complete. Though do need to nip back for the Ethernet adaptor thingy.
Movers did a bang up job too, which helps.
All that remains now is to do All The Unpacking. Which is when we regret owning hundreds of books!

That was the first thing I unpacked. I find a disorderly kitchen really quite annoying.
Also made use of the Dishwasher to nuke the mould off some pans, and get the glassware (which sadly had to sit outside of a cabinet in the flat) all sparkly clean.
Will need to get up early again tomorrow and do some unpacking. Got a big old fridge freezer being delivered, so need a comparatively clear deck.
Also need to look into Furniture Charity Shops. Got a bunch of stuff which has served its purpose and needs replacing. British Heart Foundation usually do collection as well, which helps. Automatically Appended Next Post: Also ordered a fancy massage chair, and a bedstead with the deploying TV.
All for the bedroom.

Fallen behind on the unpacking, but I don’t care.
My Little Win here is….not waking up ever so slightly soggy, as I no longer live in a leaky basement.
Particularly noticable in my bedsheets, which are always lovely and warm and bone dry.
Also, and this might seem like I’m being deliberately daft? Today was bin day. With it, went the last of the previous owner’s stuff. Which means, for the first time in my independent living life? My Bin Is My Own. Only to be filled with the rubbish I myself have generated. No more going to put the bins out, only to find someone else in the building has stuffed it. Never again some utter goit leaving a load of cardboard in the bin locker, then setting the whole thing alight with a carelessly discarded ciggie. An end to opening the lid and being assailed by the sent of gently fermenting nappies.
My Bin. My Rubbish. My Kingdom.

Riddle Me This, Brit-man... what is the difference between the can and the bin in your neck of the woods?
Would either of them be close to what we call a dumpster?

Everything here is a bin. Small dustbins, pedal bins in the kitchen, through household wheeliebins (for the dash down the road to catch the bin lorry on bin day), up to big communal wheelie bins (covered dumpsters).
Then there are skips... open dumpsters.
I'd say the can is probably closer to your "Jim" ;-) The Dunny, bog, Crapper (brandname), Porcelain Telephone, and so so many more.
My little win... I bought a replacemement 3D printer, to replace a 2016 one. It turns out, my wife found out about rainbow filament, so I get all sorts of leaway on using it.

Yeah. Bin is any specifically domestic receptacle for refuse.
In a house you’ll have small bins dotted about. Say, one in the living room, one per bedroom, one per bathroom.
You’ve then a larger bin, most often in the kitchen (as that tends to generate the most refuse).
In time for bin day, the other bins are emptied into your outside bin. This is most commonly a wheelie bin (a bin with two wheels for ease of moving it around), but particularly in shared buildings, it can be a Biffa Bin. Larger, four wheeled. Pretty much an American Dumpster.
Bin Diver is a mild insult, suggesting the person is of sufficient poverty and/or generally Grottiness that they’ll riffle through bins for their dinner, Christmas presents, a sense of purpose in life etc.
Those who do this in commercial bins, looking for not quite out of date food like to call themselves Freegans. But they’re Bin Divers and they know it. Automatically Appended Next Post: Skinflint Games wrote: Mad Doc Grotsnik wrote:Fallen behind on the unpacking, but I don’t care.

Glad it’s not just me!
Also need to look into Wheelie Washers. Time was they seemed thick on the ground, but don’t tend to see them these days. Possibly due to said previous communal bins.
