Let's hear some of the most idiotic things that have ever been done during your games of 40k.

During one particularly fierce game, I was attempting to storm a castle held by Ultramarines. Alas, my charge began to falter.... so I deep-striked a few buildings to keep my troops out of LOS.

an emperors champion charging up a 6 foot table against 6 tau hammerheads with railguns... surviving, only to take one of them down and die...

We were trying to recreate the "charge of the light brigade"... Anyway needless to say, everyone else the champion was with died...

An ork player thought that his isolated boyz squad was out of charge range from my land raider and berzerkers.

He forgot about disembark range.

A few seconds later, 22 'ard boyz and Zoggy were dead.

I scuttled with Genestealers, and was going to attack my friends Chapter Master, And during my shooting phase I moved to get in range, but forgot that if you roll for fleet, then you loose the ablility to assult... I managed to kill off everyone but the CM

???? What? There is no "roll for Fleet any more. That is exactly what Fleet is for. It allows you to run (ie roll a d6 during the shooting phase and move that distance, what USED TO BE fleet) and still assault. To repeat, if you have Fleet, you may run in the shooting phase and still assault in the assault phase (unless some other rule prevents you from doing so).

they way my friend was making it seem, was that they didn't have it, so I could roll to move but left out that I couldn't assault

Putting it nicely, your friend was wrong. Putting it bluntly, he messed you over............ Altho part of it could have been carry-over from 4th.
In 4th, Fleet meant a unit could move during the shooting phase and assault. In 5th, it means the same thing. A unit with Fleet can move during the shooting phase and Run. Normally, a unit that runs may not assault. Fleet allows a unit that has run to still assault.

This is why you read the rulebook yourself.

I've seen some dumb things, but one of my favorites was when my 'Nid friend took Gaunts without number in a 1k objective game. My Tau friend got the upperhand quickly and spent the last 2 turns shooting a mass of Gaunts off the field every turn they arrived. I think he racked up almost double the VPs the Nids brought to the game.

Maybe he was thinking Run, and didn't know the distinction with Fleet?

Or maybe he was scared of the stealers
Anyway, I ALWAYS forgot to charge my Khorne Lord. Also, me vs my friend he said he had an amazing idea, which he proceded to carry out. He used a Valkyries Grav Chute to surround Kharn with a Psyker battle choir. I decided not to tell him about Blessings of the Blood God until later on...

In an attempt to clear an objective this weekend I sent my Predator to cover the objective. Since there were 15+ Genestealers and a Carnifex within 4" of the objective it didn't last too long.
