hi this is my first post on a gaming forum my main interest lies in the underground dance scene but am a fanatical gamer in my spare time i have owned virtually every army in the games workshop collection i currently am fielding a tyrannid army & am working on a 1,500 pts blood angel dreadnought army based on the defence of baal against Waaagh! big skorcha although the list is far from playable yet but am hopiong 2 field at least 7 dreadnoughts of various configs any advice on this would be greatly recieved

Are you even alowed to field 7 dreadnoughts? I though the most you could have was 6, I'm oblivious to almost everything to do with SM's.

yeah you cam field 3 hvy support dreadnoughts 3 furioso dreads 1 of which you can have as a librarian & 1 death company dread for each 5 death company marines you field i'm looking at having 11 death company marines so could have 8 if the pts allow but need 2 shoe horn in some scouts 2 hold objectives doubt it'll play well but will scare the crap out of most opponents when setting it up & then aiming for 2 stormravens when the pts go up to 2,000 i am considering dropping a furioso & placing a techmarine in i'll post the completed list once i'm happy with it

Welcome to dakka! That would be an interesting list to field, I've never tried to put that many dreads on the field. Although I do like using them I believe it is too expensive and risky with the amount of AV weapons that most lists will have. I usually drop pod my dreads but mine are very CC oriented so my focus is to get them stuck in as soon as possible while avoiding enemy shooting. However, with so little else in your army this would mean that you would start off with very few targets for the enemy in the first turn.

There's a huge long thread in Painting and Modeling where people show off their Dreadnoughts, so you're definitely not alone in loving them.

Be sure to post both in Army lists with your specific list, and Tactics for general advice about running a dread-heavy army. I know a poster called 40kEnthusiast also posted some excellent battle reports in that forum a while back using a 6-Dread SM list.

Thamks all 4 the kind welcomes & the tips i've posted a quick knock up of the list i had in mind it's gonna suffer getting across the table & into contact with the enemy but when i increase the point limit 2 2,000 i'll be sure 2 drop pod some of the dreads & have some ball predators 2 fill the space until they deploy

Another fellow iron warrior fan gotta love those boys they know how 2 rock a battle field i used 2 field 4 in the old codex i now use 9 obliteraors & 2x5terminator champions with 2 deamon princes & another marines 2 make it legal it went 6 months without defeat
