So, recently after cleaning out the attic I find old papers, all the way back to 5th grade. Apparently my mother kept these papers for some reason. All of them where "What I want to be when I grow up" the topic teachers made you writ about when they had no idea. Im just surprised about the things I use to that to be.
Police Officer, Animal Control, Doctor, Navy Ship men, An Equestrian, A Medicine Manufacturer, A professional Cos player(Is that even a thing?)
I coulddnt stop laughing at it.
So Dakka, o you remember when you where young what you wanted to do with your life, I doupt when you where in High School you wanted to work in IT And why did you not end up pursuing them? I know I didnt become a doctor after I found out it was like it was on scrubs.

I think it alternated between a fighter pilot and fisherman. When I was in secondary I wanted to be a microbiologist and that's basically what I am now.

I wanted to be a psychologist as a kid because they made a lot of money. I was a weird child.

Ever since about 5th grade though I've known it's pretty much engineering for me.

I wanted to be anything but a fire fighter, my dad was one and he was a militaristic parent.

I became a mechanic.... and then a fire fighter..

So now my son can think the same thing of me i guess.

Let's see.
I wanted to be (among other things) a fireman, a cowboy (even took horseriding lessons!), a paleontologist after reading Jurassic Park, and then I got hooked on science fiction and wanted to become an astronaut and (later) an astrophysicist.

I even made it into university for astronomy, but it turns out that although I'm otherwise quite an intelligent guy, I was too thick for the math that's needed for that.

Outflanking

Well, Until around age 10 I wanted to be a Paleontologist. Then I wanted to be an Engineer. When I realized how much work that was going to be (around age 15) I decided to become a biologist. I got bored with that halfway through my first year of university.

So I said "Screw it" and went back to plan A.

It's going well so far.

It's not too bad, I spent a week riding them, I do not recommend doing it in shorts though, I was mega chafed by the end of the week, but it was a fun time.

And sauceman, check out horse stables near you, you might be able to find an owner that is willing to 'lease' their horse to you. It generally costs about 10% of the horses cost per year, so a 30,000 dollar horse costs 3,000 a year, or about 300 a month. You basically pay for the feed/housing of the horse, and generally in return you get the ability to ride the horse whenever you want (within reason) and get free riding lessons once a week. My old housemate did this for about a year, and then he got a DUI and had to stop because he wasn't allowed to drive anywhere that wasn't home or work (he then got a job at a bar >_<.

Cheesecat, it's not too bad on the junk, some gaits are smoother than others, and you learn quickly to go with the motion of that ocean as it is less painful on the sack.

I've wanted to be a teacher, an author, a marine biologist... a doctor, a vet, and when I was really young, a policeman/fireman.
Right now, my only ambition is to get through Uni with a decent degree, and find a job that pays equally decently. I'd still like to write professionally though!

Either way, I'll catch gak all day.

When I was a kid, I always wanted to be a police officer in the NYPD. A lot of my family were, and it seemed like a great job.

When I was 15, my uncle was killed while undercover making a drug buy. The subsequent disintegration of his family in the aftermath of that made me realize well, maybe it's not for me after all.

I then decided IT seemed like a great gig. That was also a huge mistake as it turned out, but I have remained in nonetheless.

I still don't really know what I want to be when I grow up.

Probably work

I always wanted to work with computers in some regard. I blame it on the fact that dad basically raised me on technology, teaching me to solder when I was young and getting me into amateur electronics.

Looking back on life, I wish my parents would have raised me to be a lawyer.

Started off wanting to be a "drawer" since I liked doodling and drawing a lot which got condensed down into become a cartoonist after reading stuff like Calvin and Hobbes. I think another thing I wanted to do as a kid at some point was be a writer. Both of these got sidetracked a bit with my eventual understanding of how hard it would be to properly market my art or stories given that I was averse to the electronic drawing pads and colouring of many contemporary artists and liked using good 'ol fashioned pencil+shading. I even managed to draw a comic for a financial firm as part of their marketing team while I was an intern there.

Sadly I saw that it was something that was best put on the side for something more "stable" so I went for my other interest of psychology. It ended up being far more scientific than I though it would be (the social aspect being more interesting than the biological parts of neurotransmitters and what not) and I ended dropping it because of the mandatory stats course. Ended going for what I did best in, with English and History...we'll see how well that goes

Inside your mind, corrupting the pathways

I don't really remember what I wanted to be other than I did consider joining the army for a while (quite a number of years on and off through school and university).

Once I got to university I wanted to be some kind of medical engineer - now I am training as a clinical scientist (clinical engineer), so dream achieved

To be fair, there is currently 1 comic artist that I know of that still does the basic work of her comic in pencil on board. Danielle Corsetto draws her comics and scans it and sends it off to a colorist she has, though she was doing it herself for awhile.
