Intro: A new Dome, the same old rivalries. Herrick Torr had heard of the rumours of newly rediscovered hivespace early. Many thought it was the Delaque way to trade in knowledge and sift the fanciful from the valuable, but he had kept this information for himself and watched it blossom like a sump bloom until the time was right to pluck it. The Archivist-General had been pleased by the news of a new zone of influence and rewarded Torr with Primacy. He had a thousand cycles to prove his worth.

Cycle 006: The settlement, if one could call it that, had grown fast. It now sprawled nearly a standard klick from the mantleward Core where the original entry was made into the gloom of the domes expanse.

It had been dubbed SMOG TOWN on account if the clouds of vapours that drifted around the core where industrial effluvia meet the geothermal heat in the core. Herrick gathered his coat around him as he started his search of the settlement. His early development of contacts here had yielded a good deal of territory and respect from the new inhabitants, of course having a heavily armed gang helped in that respect.

Nonetheless there were rivals to his Primacy of this dome, indeed he had heard that there were less reputable gangs already operating in the dome when they arrived, still these scummers would not impede the web of House Delaque expanding here.

This morning’s tour was no different to the previous until the Juves started crooking their necks over the crowd and excitedly searching their pockets. When they withdrew creds and not weapons he took interest. Ah the naivety of youth, he smiled as he thumbed the safety on the Boltgun concealed in his coat. It was Kwouk that saw what he thought were Joy-girls at the far end of the Strip. Indeed the exposed flesh and coloured rags would lead you to think that, but these females exhibited a bulk that could only mean muscle, weapons or both. A two credit fumble with these girls might prove deadly.

“Nice from afar but far from nice” was a saying that his farther had taught him and as they closed on the “girls” his initial two-cred valuation look far overpriced. Clan Escher, almost certainly but who? The traders had mentioned at least two female gangs had infiltrated the dome but his lack of knowledge disturbed him – a Delaque flaw?

He snapped out of his malaise and appraised the situation. Four against his three, their Gangers against his Juves, open ground and dozens of eyes watching. The options – Ambush; not possible, Retreat; a loss of face that would dent his ambitions, that only left fighting. A win? Unlikely but even a defeat here would generate much needed information for the cycles ahead.

The Juves composed themselves hands went back in pockets, creds exchanged for pistols. The females, The Heroins (he guessed?), looked agitated, weapons were covertly being readied but who would lose their cool first.

As it turned out it was Evver, whether he tripped (as he claimed) or not is open to debate but either way his stub gun started to rise. That was all the Heroin’s needed and quick as a Ripper a fusillade of short range Las fire came steaming on to them. Another old saying his Farther had was “there’s allot of air around a bullet” and so it proved as neither Juve took a (much deserved?) hit.

As the first Las rounds passed him the Boltgun barked. There was a satisfying crump as the nearest ganger was winged by the round and down she went. Faced by ferocity of the response the nearest scummer took to her high heels. That’s Leadership!

Swinging round for a new target he saw that swords had been drawn and Kwouk had taken a slice to the thigh, just a flesh wound he fought on but was out matched. Evver piled in to aid Kwouk but was kept away by the girl’s sword. Two against three this was more like it.

Leaving the Juves to it he conserved ammo and drew his Father’s Chainsword and charged at the unengaged ganger trying to flank them. If he could quickly dispatch her then I should send them packing. As he charged Herrick looked around to ensure the locals would be admiring his strength and consequently not at the rifle butt that split his ear like a ripe ploin. In a stupor he watched as his assailant charged Evver who expertly dispatched the malevolent Escher ganger as she closed.

Clutching his ear Herrick called on the Juves to fall back. A defeat but the Heroin’s were now a known quantity, a quantity that he would extend efforts to reduce to nowt. Herrick Torr will not allow his Primacy of this dome to be challenged.

For House Delaque!

[POST GAME] Herrick Torr was partially deafened (no effect unless it happens again) and Kwouk Survived against the odds (full recovery +d6 exp). Evver gained +1WS and Kwouk the Fast Shot skill. Scavenging the market a Skull Chip and a Infra-red sight were offered. The sight was purchased and given to Peepers McRaw.

Next mission: Gang Fight against the Cult of Dirt (Panic)

Cycle 006.5: They sheltered in the lea of a building in a rubble strewn square. The ringing in Herrick’s ears had subsided to be replaced by silence in the right one. On the plus side this meant that Evver’s bragging about his “kill” was less of a problem. Kwouk was pale and silent nursing a gash on his thigh. The healing unguent had fused and started to repair the wound but the whelp was full of self pity. ‘Best to get your licks early noobie, you know what to look out for next time’.

Herrick looked up at movement to the south and relaxed as Al Sucra emerged from the gloom along with most of the gang. ‘We were trailing a group of Dirt Monkeys coreward when we heard the shots and thought we’d come and loot your corpses. Harry’s keeping an eye on them from the Tower. I like the new look, I take it you’ve made some new friends?’

‘Yeah, we got bushwhacked by The Heroins, but it wasn’t a one sided result. ‘You learn anything?’

‘Only that they’ve been edging closer through the Slag heap to the centre of SMOG TOWN most of the cycle, probably be heading in this direction soon’

‘Best we lay out the welcoming mat least they think they can range all over our turf’

With that a signal light was seen from the derelict Tower where Harry was located. Herrick gathered the gang and marked a plan in the Ash. Stooffer was sent up to Harry with orders to hold the Tower, least the Dirt Monkeys get a Stubber up there. Al Sucra went West to deny that flank and cover the main street with the Heavy Stubber. Herrick would take the body of the gang through the Main concourse where he expected the Cult’s main trust to come from and deny the higher ground.

Al Sucra set up the Stubber on the Gantry overlooking the debris field to the North and signalled for Tas to get in cover and wait. They didn’t have to wait long before the Dirt monkey’s appeared and advanced. Just one at first and then another. He guessed the range and adjusted the sight, there wasn’t a great deal of cover here but the elevation meant that anything in front of them would be mince if he could nurse the Stubber’s temperamental spirit to play ball. As the targets moved again Al squeezed the trigger and sent a burst of fire to the far side of SMOG TOWN and was rewarded as the first one slumped to the ground…

Herrick drove the Juves on and the scampered quickly under the watchful cover of the rest of the gang. To the East he could see that Stooffer had foolishly left the cover of the Tower and was poking his head around a barricade looking for targets just as one of the cults following came running up the street. Unable to draw a bead on the target he advanced up with the Juves with the expectation of collecting the pieces of his little brother latter on.

Harry looked behind him and saw that Stooffer had left his position. ‘Come back ‘ere ya damn sump rat afore yer get one of us killed’ he shouted as he caught sight of him moving up the street. At that point Stooffer leapt back behind a barricade. Harry saw the reason, a particularly dirty looking cultist was hobbling up the street. ‘Damn juve’ he said and stepped out from the Tower and sent a jet of Promethium down the street to be met with a satisfying scream.

The little runt turned and saluted in appreciation. ‘Gee thanks Mister Harry’

Harry turned to scold the juve and never saw the plasma pistol that shot him in the side. Lying there unable to move or react he saw the Autogun poke out of the roof opposite and shot Stooffer. ‘At least that little prick will be dead too’ he thought. ‘I can kick his arse from here to the Emperor…….’ Then a bullet hit the fuel tank on his back and all was fire then black.

The Dirt Monkey kept coming across the debris field and Al Sucra and Tas kept shooting at the face masked scummer. Then the strangest thing happened, the Cultist stood up and in one short burst of fire sent Al sprawling across the gantry. Tas was galvanised by this occurrence and shot the cultist in return. Al seemed to be okay as he crawled back to the Stubber.

Herrick and the juves swept into the building on the central concourse just as a pair of Cultists with a Heavy Stubber appeared on the roof of the building opposite. This was exactly the position he didn’t want to be in. Al’s gun had gone quiet and the fireball to the East was ominous to say the least. Then some hard rounds started to suppress the Heavy Stubber.

Jingo Steve sprayed another burst of fire in the parapet. ‘Keep it up Jingo, he’s just where I want him’. He looked at Peepers McRaw between bursts, he seemed to be fixing something to his Lasgun, he then shouldered his weapon and a beam of red light shone up to the parapet. One Las round flew up and the Heavy slumped out of view. The other Cultist could see little benefit from putting his own neck at risk and sent fire across the sky at the Tower Pining Song Mai.

The beam of light flickered up to the parapet again with the same devastating effect, “Peepers” indeed. The rooftop position went quiet at the same time as the rest of SMOG TOWN as the remainder of the Cult of Dirt retreated back to the sump that had spawned them.

Herrick looked down at the destruction at the foot of the Tower. Mister Harry’s corpse still smouldered while a nearby Cultist was burning intensely giving off a pleasing heat; A definition of risk/reward in one little scene. The Cult had retreated so quickly they were able to advance and secure the Slag heap to the East – there should be some good coin from there.

Stooffer still singed and blacked from the explosion was grinning inanely at the other juves. To survive a shooting and an explosion in on action you would have thought he was one of the blessed Astartes themselves the way he was talking, completely unaware that it was the empty flamer cylinder and him being flat on his arse that meant he wasn’t well done like a chargrilled ratburger. Lucky prick. Still, Emperor knows you need luck in the Underhive; he might make it to ganger yet.

Herrick kicked Harry's corpse. 'Still at least the Doc should have some use for this. Useful to the end Harry, useful to the end.'

[POST GAME] Mister Harry died with no other injuries, with his body being sold to the gangs Friendly doc for 25 creds. The Cult of Dirt suffered four to my one) injuries meaning that the Serpents took their Slag heap. Herrick Torr gained the Evade skill (-1 to hit in the open) and Peepers McRaw gains +1WS (truly it is a mighty IR sight!). Stummers were found at the market but not bought.

Despite this win, losing a kitted out heavy combined with low XP rolls has dropped my gang rating to 1214, the lowest in the campaign by some margin. Still with 100+ cred in the stash I can claw this back a bit.

Yeah,
Nice read.
I wish Lumbergh held his bottle just a little longer.
However I'm glad we managed to kill bobs killer before the cult bailed!

I'm currenly 0 for 3... So I expected to have the lowest rating!
my gang is a little bit battered, but it's mostly intact and I'm starting to see how this game gets played.

Next time!

Seconded. I'm loving me some Necromunda battle reports.

Tough luck for the guy with the flamer. From what I read about the rules it seems like cover and positioning is very important, and a flamer might be a pretty good weapon if you can get it in close.

A flamer with a good shot can be a game turner, but it'll probably run out of ammo!

Cycle 15: Herrick looked out of the shadows of the booth. While the flow of information made it necessary to be found from time to time it was not wise to present a target to every scummer and sumpdog out to make a name for itself.

Herrick leaned out of the darkness if the booth and beckoned the punk at the bar over.

"So you know what the Wasteladies are moving on then.....and you want to join the crew?".

Herrick pondered on this news. Another strand of the Underhive web was made clear to him. Should he ignore it, manage his own affairs but possibly expose himself to the machinations of the Wasteladies but possibly learn more of this as yet unknown adversely.....or confront this new threat head on and scatter them to the four winds.

He sipped his Sacra uncertain of a definitive plan, but what he did know was that he would more than likely meet the Wasteladies in person in the next few cycles. Best prepare for another confrontation in the SMOG.

"Barkeep, a round of your finest Second Best for our newest recruit - he'll need it if he's gunna earn his Serpent's jacket!"

The bar erupted to cheers as the drinks were poured. Herrick slunk back to the shadows to ruminate on this latest morsel to add to the SMOG TOWN picture.

[PRE-GAME] The loss of my heavy in the previous game gave me a bit of a quandary, to straight out replace him with another heavy or a regular ganger? I was wary or sinking allot of points into a Heavy that you have to then put in the risky position of getting close so I chose a ganger with a Lasgun and Auto Pistol, a combo that had been most useful thus far.

With half the group busy it was left to Ian and me to arrange the first encounter between the Wasteladies and the Serpents. So off to the Overlords we went. I was late but upon arrival I found that Ian had made the most excellent discovery of a box full of corridor scenery. Equally excited we decided that it would be thematically interesting to run a raid scenario because I had the Tunnels territory. So we ignored the scenario table and a roll off decided that the Serpents would Attack!

This scenario was somewhat more complicated to a regular gang fight. The defender designates a point on the table as a territory entrance and had D6 sentries (he rolled a 6!). The attacker rolls for 2D6 attackers and enters from a random table edge – I rolled 11, so my whole gang! It’s not completely one sided as the Defender can call on reinforcements when the alarm has been raised.

Cycle 021:
The Serpents had spent the rest of the week watching for signs of the Wasteladies and gathering snippets of overheard conversations. The Wasteladies it seemed were rich in Water, though if it were half as dirty as those sump-wenches it would a gamble to drink. Still they were evidently making good creds from these resources and this was something Herrick could not allow to continue. The new ganger Django had followed one of their Juve carriers to what he thought was the source, a prudent appointment Herrick thought to himself. There was little else to discover at this point so it was time to let these scummers know that SMOG TOWN was full of Serpents that bite!

The Water Still was somewhere down in the tunnels the other side of the Core. Django had led them silently to the staging point. So he was adept at information gathering, tracking and noise discipline, this greenhorn could go far if he could use that Lasgun he carried.

Herrick sent Mai with a couple of the Juves and Django with instructions to move to the flank and hold up any reinforcements. If they hadn’t engaged in 30minutes they were to make ad much noise as possible. Herrick would lead the main body of the gang the most direct route and capture or destroy the Water Still.

As they closed down the tunnel there was scant cover to advance through and they had to keep to the shadows in the furthest reaches of the intersection. Nonetheless from here they could see three Wasteladies milling about some machinery near the Objective, worryingly one had a flamer! There was no clear shot and scant cover.

Jingo, Evver and G’wrath went to a side tunnel to see if they could draw a bead on the objective or the Wasters, tough he wasn’t hopeful that either of the Juves would hit anything!

Mai watched from the safety of a barricade while the Juves advanced up the tunnel. He checked his chronometer and saw that 27 minutes had passed and the Wasters who had previously been checking weapons, scars and make up were now getting closer. Suddenly one of them stepped round a crate and about to spot Stoofer – Dammed Juve! Mai saw Django had shouldered his Lasgun and put a round into the Escher. Damn that newbie was quick. He checked his chronometer again; it was close enough to 30 minutes so gave the order to open fire on the other targets.

It sounded like Mai had found some trouble, annoyingly that woke the Wasters here up and they were quickly spotted. Two of the Eschers ran out from the barricades and sent some hard rounds in his direction, dangerously short of cover these wenches needed to be dealt with quickly. The Bolter barked and the first waster went down like a seasoned joy girl. This was quickly followed by a beam of light followed by a las blast, then a groan as another of the Escher’s hit the deck. Peepers would drink well tonight for that shot! Still there was the small matter of a flamer unit somewhere in the intersection up ahead and no one seemed very keen on getting too close. Stalemate!

As Evver and G’wrath edged up the corridor they spotted movement in the gloom ahead, reinforcements had arrived quickly it seemed. They both slipped in to the shadows and waited for better shots. Jingo racked the Autogun and pointed it down the long corridor, the Juves had signalled the presence of 4 more Wasters coming. He let the first two targets run around the corner up ahead using their gaudy attire as markers for his shot, he exhaled as the third target passed then pulled the trigger sending a swarm of bullets down the corridor. She went tumbling to the ground. This was followed by screams of anguish – someone important? He smiled at the thought of bringing their leader down. That would be a tale to tell. He made a note to check the corpse.

Herrick assessed the situation the firefight for Mai’s group was continuing if anything heating up, Jingo had started on the other flank and more Eschers were flooding in behind the machinery. There was allot more of them than he had been lead to believe and they has a hell of allot of cover. Surprisingly they seemed to have a lack of rifles but at these range in tunnels that wasn’t much of a disadvantage. He sent another bolt across the intersection so Peepers could light another target in the gloom. Al was still cradling the Stubber complaining about a lack of targets running to and fro. Watching that big Oaf flap about made him miss Harry or more to the point Harry’s flamer. Typical of that useless git to die just before he became useful! Herrick ducked back as some shot went flying past his still bandaged ear. We need to get in there or we'll get shot to pieces!

Mai crawled back to cover after being winged by a shotgun, Stoofer came running back to his position, fortunately Kwouk and Django continued to fire down the corridor to prevent the newly formed horde of Wasters rushing them. “You okay guv?”

“Get back in position noob, you get us all killed like you did Harry!”
Stoofer took these words to be quite encouraging and sent a burst of fire back down the corridor at the milling Eschers making one fall. Mai had brushed himself down and treated the pellets in his arm as best he could, then moved behind a barricade covering the corridor.

Tas came running up a side tunnel and beckoned Django to follow.

They were going nowhere here so probing another one of the Wasteladies tunnels was a good move. Mai smiled at the innuendo. It quickly faded as a Waster Heavy toting a Flamer leapt out from behind the barricade and sent a gout of burning Promethium over the quickly ducking Stoofer and into his position. By the Emperors blessings neither of them had been hit. The Heavy had left herself so exposed that even Kwouk could hit her and a spray of Auto rounds later she was out of action. Seconds later Kwouk went down to a stubgun round.

Tas rounded the corner and run across to the other side of the corridor. As he glanced back he saw Django down a gang behind a crate. He raised his rifle and added to the weight of fire. The Wasters weren’t giving up and would fight and die for every inch.

Herrick could see the las fire in the adjacent corridor Tas had made it, that should make it possible to advance. Just then his bolter was knocked out of his hand, he looked down to see a blacken stump were his little finger had been. Herrick passed out.

“The boss is down”. The call could be heard echoing through the tunnels. This seemed to spur the Wastladies on as a hideously scarred Escher ganger came screaming down the corridor at Tas, who promptly took to his heels. Django coolly stepped back into cover and shot the she-thing in the stomach.

There were ripples of discontent but the Serpents nerve held, they were scything the Wasters down but starting to take casualties.

The Heavy who had been skulking near the objective chose that moment to leap out and bathe Evver and G’wrath in flames, singeing them both and putting G’warth down. Evver ever lucky was missed by another Waster that had advance done the right flank exposing him in hiding.

As she charged over some boxes Jingo lined her up and put a bullet in her torso.

With the Heavy out in the open and the last few Eschers being driven back the Serpents advanced and mopped up the survivors. Herrick looked on as Jingo smashed the entrance to the Still.

Whether that kept the Wasteladies from the Water business or not was debateable but there were a pleasing number of blood trails and bodies lying about, many of them still breathing. “Pick up the cleanest one that’s still alive, the Wasteladies owe me a finger.”

Mai smiled at the innuendo and did as the Boss ordered.

[POST GAME] Whoa what a devastating game! The mission did not allow the Wasteladies to bottle it and Ian could only make me take a bottle test once so the Serpents kept on and ground the Wasteladies into the sump. I half remember that there was an issue with the Raid mission and that must have been it.

I had seriously considered bottling it when my leader went down and Heavy Stubber ran out of ammo (my only S4+) but stuck to it figuring that if I downed them all I would win. Not fun for Ian (sorry mate) in the end but all I could do other than bottle it. End result I had two injured (Herrick [-1 finger on left hand], Kwouk [old battle wound]), Ian had 13! As a result I capture Mercedes and the Wasteladies had two gangers’ dead.

I was the lowest gang at the start of the game so a hefty underdog bonus (+4xp each) saw most of the gang advance Al (+1Ws), Kwouk (Crackshot & +1BS), Evver (+1Ld & +1Wd), Stoofer (Gunfighter & +1A), G’wrath (+1S & +1Wd), Tas (+1Wd & +1Ld), Jingo (Weapon smith, Escape Artist & +1Ws), Mai (+1A), Peepers (+1Ld) and Django (+1Ws, +1Bs & Fastshot).

So pretty good all round, Django (what can I say I watched the film that morning!) was a great buy. 5 wounding hits and 3 advances in his first game! Definitely Man of the match material.

I ended up buying a Ratskin Map as well. So that could be good.

All in all a very good game but there are some serious flaws with the mission in not allowing the defender much choice but to stand a fight

Thanks for the comments fellers.

The table was great! It looks so simple to build (Blue Foam walls on MDF) but was fantastic to play on. I had picked up a load of cargo box type scenery bits to add into tunnels which helped to cut down the fire lines a bit too, which also made for a better game. Hopefully we can use it again next session.

Ouch, what a bloodbath. It's little things like the "defender can't run" rule that reminds me why you need to go into Necromunda with a light hearted attitude about changing the rules.

Good job playing it out to the end though. I bet the Wasteladies will be fighting an uphill battle from here. Shame, they are such a beautiful gang (well...modeled to a high quality anyway).

Curiously enough Mr Wombat the Wasteladies weren't as pummelled as one might have imagined and we can find out why in our next exciting (no really ) instalment of the SMOG TOWN Campaign!

[PRE-GAME] Following their defeat in the last game the Wasteladies consolidated their holdings and brought in some new muscle in the form of a new Juve and a Pit Slave Merc by the name of Jonny Big Arms. With these new recruits and having played more games than anyone else the Wasteladies still had a formidable 11 members (plus the captured Mercedes).

For my part I bought another Auto pistol for Stoofer to compliment his Gunfighter Skill and a club for G'Warth Badger to go with his WS and S upgrades. I rolled on the Rakskin Map table too and found it to be New and Accurate (+/-3 to scenario rolls). This would be dead handy..... if we ever rolled for missions.

Ian asked that the Wasteladies be able to attempt to recapture Mercedes. I think its good form to allow this despite the obvious benefits of killing her or selling her to the slavers. That is usually a Raid Mission and following our last experience one we were not keen to repeat. Fortunately while doing his Compilations of the old Necro articles Ian had found a set of missions that play out similar themes but on a smaller (read quicker) scale.

In this mission (the name of which escapes me) Mercedes would be based mid table and D6 Serpents would be guarding her (I rolled a 3) but not within 8". A loot counter was placed for each piece of equipment (shotgun and special bullets in this case) plus another counter for the Alarm; which would call on my reinforcements. Mercedes just had to escape collect any equipment she wanted and leave by a random table edge. So Game 1......

Cycle 044: Herrick sipped his Sacra in the shadows. He imagined the web that was SMOG TOWN displayed in front of him. There was much to ponder but little to see. The Juves were starting to prove themselves and to make it better Django had fitted right in to the Serpents and wasn't shoping any signs of being too big for himself. Indeed things were going very well but there was something he was not seeing? He beckoned the serving wrench over, perhaps some exercise would aid his thinking.....

G'warth zipped up his flies and ambled back to the cell. One minute that Waster was too damn noisy now she was silent and death. She'd better not be up to something otherwise the club held fashioned out of a knarlwood bannister would be put to use on her chops. Damn Wasters why the boss hadn't sold her on or killed her was beyond him but then that was above his pay grade or so he was told. Emperor damn them sitting in the bar he was a full ganger now and would Herrick he was better than these Juve jobs now. He push the cell door open and his heart sank...where had that bitch Mercedes gone to now....?

Mercedes lithely skips out of the cell, collects her shotgun shells and then sprints for the exit.

The Serpents wander about but do not see a thing!

Mercedes smirks as she skips back to the Wasteladies.

[POST-GAME] Dammit what a frustrating game! Random movement distance and facing, not to mention spotting distances made this really hard and I never felt I even go close to Mercedes. Still on the plus side it was a quick game and meant that we could have another go at the post game sequence. After the mauling last game the Wasteladies collected handsomely on the Underdog rule and I welcomed the extra Xp for the few gangers I had on the table (no injuries is always welcome!). The end result for me was G'wath advanced to full ganger status and picked up +1WD. At the market I bought a concealed blade and Scare genades. The latter are useful but I must admit to confusing them with the much more fun Hallucinogen grenades. :(

The other table was still busy so The Wasteladies fought a Gangfight with the Serpents - to follow.

Cycle 046: Herrick had heard of the escape when the bumbling Juve G'Wath came running into the bar. He hadn't even begun to coerce/torture information from the Escher since her wound healed never mind earning some script from selling her useless arse to the slave guild. Strange he felt he knew that he could trust G'wath to keep her but it was nice to see his instinct to shadow him and the Escher was correct. Perhaps she wasn't as talented in subterfuge as she thought she was, perhaps she was bet either way the strings of the web were being laid out as ha had expected them to be . He made a note to try and capture Mercedes again for further study and to reduce G'wath's share until the bounty was covered!

Still Tas and Jingo had at least held up their end and trailed the Waster until she had run into a Wasteladie patrol. As expected they had armed up and come running at what they though was the Serpents Lair. True this part or the wastes was all nice and homey but the lair it was not, merely a facsimile designed to lure the Wasters into a trap.

He got Al to cover the whole area from the high tower, the main avenues were well covered by another group, Mai and the top Juves would ambush where he expected the main thrust. For his own pat he would cover the flank if the Wasters infiltrated the buildings.

The fight started well enough, Herrick could see Mai had popped out of the tunnels up on to a roof of the Cellblock. A thunderous boom from his shotgun saw an equally load scream from one of the Eschers as she tried to take cover behind some crates. If all went well that Gas bomb in Mai's pocket would see the Wasters running for the sump like the rats they were. Then disaster, Mai was shadowed as a gout of fire swept up the side of the cellblock. Mai dropped to the floor and rolled to douse the flames - so much for that plan!

Simultaneously Tas had advanced up the main avenue and sent a burst of Las fire into what looked like a Servitor from the Arena. Damn the Wasters had employed muscle and not the regular kind. 'We're gonna need a bigger grenade' he muttered to no one in particular just as a spark blew out the back of its mechanical torso. Hmm this changed the dynamic of SMOG TOWN but hopefully not this battle.

Below Stooffer and Kwouk spring the remainder of the trap into action. Popping out from the Ground floor window they sprayed close range auto fire into anything that moved. Stooffer grinned as the stream of brass from his matching autopistols flew through the air, Kwouk ducked as the shell casings pattered off of his freshly shaved head. The end result was that every bit of empty space around the two advancing gangers was hit but neither ganger was! They both ducked as one of the harpies flailed through the window with a pair of vicious looking blades, Kwouk stood up and pistol whipped the second Escher who was trying to follow up but constrained by a flame unit.

He look you to see Stooffer take a the flat of a blade to the noggin. The Escher leapt through the window and kicked Kwouk to the floor as he scrambled for his knife.

Out in the street, things were going better or so Herrick thought, Jingo, Django and Tas were tying down the main body of the Wasters gang. Their pathetic attempts at marksmanship missing the well covered Serpents, in return there was a growing number of bodies collection further up the Avenue. Herrick weaved his way through the rubble and shooting to loose a burst of bolter fire down the street, this was followed by an ominous click as it jammed.

Tas looked over as Herrick ducked down to free a jammed weapon, as he did he was knocked backwards by a shotgun blast - that'd teach him to stand in an empty street. Tas looked around, could this be it? Could he finally take over the helm of the gang? The gang looked to him for leadership. A plasma blast singed the hair on his ear as it passed.

Tas' first order? "Fallback!" Hardly edifying an edifying start to his leadership career. Al Sucra finally arrived on the scene "Where in Dorn's sacred undergarments have you been hiding?".

Al poked the Heavy Stubber over the barricade as sent a stream of heavy rounds over the cellblock. Another burst down the Avenue saw the Escher's scurrying for better cover. "Keep it up until Mai's lot are clear, I'm going to make sure the Boss is okay".

A leader needs a good gun Tas thought, this way I look concerned and can call first dibs on the Bolter!. 'Now that's leadership!'

[END-GAME] Not sure how I lost that one. I think the Wasteladies were 4 or 5 down for a good turn or two before I had to take my first bottle test - which I failed.

Poor placement of my Heavy was critical. I put him in the highest point I could without thinking of field of fire, just assuming the would be good?

The Mai's squad proved massively ineffectual. I had dreams of combining a scare grenade with a fusillade of auto pistol fire from my Top juves. I miscalculated the flamer range and left Mai exposed and then missed 3 x 3+ to take down the ganger that ultimately cut them down. As ever my lasgunners were effective and they're really starting to rank up nicely and two juves have made it to ganger!

I had four down at the end but no serious injury rolls which was a result except for Kwouk being captured. I rolled up a silencer on the trade chart and a Needlegun. The latter would be nice but at 240creds was never going to happen; so I settled for the sneaky and thematically correct silencer.

Ian's off for a month and I suspect with this in mind sporting sold Kwouk back to me for 40 creds (nearly all my stash!)

I'll post my roster later but despite two defeats in one day my gang rep grew a bit, probably not top dog (snake) anymore but in the hunt.
