Finally got around to basing these burnas. These are second-hand (thus someone else's work), but good enough that I'm disinclined to try to repaint them with all the other projects I have going. Besides, I have 6 more that are bare metal that I'll have to paint myself that take priority. Perhaps I'll touch them up sometime later this year.

Git... I have literally done nothing but read this blog for the last 11 hours ... (Bisides sleeping) Soooo entertaining, you guys crack me up. I recently decided I was going to start a bad moon army, and I saw your blog, so I read all 35 pages of it..... So worth it. You are an amazing painter/modeler and you have really inspired me to get cracking on my Ork army before my first year of high school. Only problem is you almost made me give up after I realized I will never amount to anything nearly as Orkish and awesome as your.

Sure you will Gabe. I didn't pop out of the ground a fully skilled modeler and painter. I had to work at it same as you. Read everything you can find. Try everything. Practice until you're good. No worries man, you'll get it!

I do know how you feel though... there are other folks on dakka who's work I can't hold a candle to. You just can't let it get you down... just keep plowing ahead.

Here we have orks including old minis (I loooove old minis), all painted to a good standard.
The walkers look so damn cool with these markings, especially that black moon and the checkerboards on the killakan.

One question though : why are your bases so disparate ? I assume it would look much better with homogeneous basing.

Hey Minus, welcome!

My basing style has changed and evolved over the last couple of years. However from about page 3 onwards, everything was done using the same basing techniques. So other than the boys squads... the rest is fairly uniform. Little bit of difference in tone from the older models to the new ones as I look at them. Not enough to be worth going back and re-doing the bases for. The old (grey gravel) bases will eventually get re-done, it's just not a priority.

You get such an organic finish across the board and it always compliments the models so much!

I'm going to have to start trying out some of your techs to try and improve my own stuff, basic sand and grass is getting a bit old ><
