Thanks

I managed to get a little more work done on the replacement Canoness, still no sign of that backpack yet but couldn't be too far off. Need to track down purity seals or just make them myself.

Backpacks arrived, they look way too oversized on her.
They look a little too big on normal sisters, but massive on this one. So going with plan B and took the backpack from the current canoness to reuse for this one. So its sitting with the packs from the superiors I had stripping.

Edit: Actually mightn't be too bad, here it is with some blutac to hold it in place.

Tempted to put flames into the chimneys on it, but might be better off without them.

Ended up looking so much better with the canoness pack, so went with that. Fit it into place with some greenstuff then once that had set I took it back off then glued it into place. Should hold pretty well.

I'm about ready to prime this now. I was trying to find places for purity seals before, but couldn't really find any that didn't look weird. Besides with all the fleurs around it's probably not needed. Would never put it on a weapon, cause it just gets in the way there.

Painted it up a bit quick for a game I had yesterday, not quite finished yet but was good enough for the game.

I lost, but the highlight was the enemy riptide burning itself to death for the first three turns of the game with it's novacharge then failing to shoot its main gun for a while before being run over and killed by my rhino on turn 5 when failing a death or glory. It died without me pointing a gun at it.

I've also been thinking of maybe getting a knight for the sisters, which then led to thoughts of perhaps having a knight army as a side project of course.
Was thinking just a squad of three maybe, but I'm not sure. If I thought more on it I'd see how I felt about it after the one for the sisters.
Of course this sort of inspired the idea of starting them as an army while describing what the knights were to a friend who doesn't play.

Comparing them to the riptide.

Anyway it then led to four ideas for them:
-Allied to the sisters
-Stand alone house
-Mercenaries
-Zaku themed

But of course the most important thing to start with is seeing if anyone would even fight against them around here as a standalone force. The alternative of course is to get more sisters again, but the lack of new models always seems to lead to this distraction...

Canoness looks brilliant, OSL is pretty amazing.

Well done with this now.

The eye behind the gun ended up being a bit tricky making me regret the pose, being unable to get to it I tried to instead paint it closed and with a scar.

Just finished putting this together.

Also a quick scale shot with some 1/100 gundam.

The Zaku II's head actually seems to be the same size, or roughly the same size, as the knight's so sort of thinking of maybe doing a headswap with one later since the background (haven't read all of it in the new codex) mentioned the leaders as having custom made armour. But first need to focus on this one before thinking of getting any more.

Thinking of a few colours like the SoB scheme, or blue or something else. But, thinking if I should have the knight painted as part of a house I make up or as a freeblade and having any others as freeblades too. One thing I have decided on though is the chassis would be a dark grey instead of silver.

That cannoness is sweet.

Looking forward to the knight.

Started painting the knight a bit.

Need to build up the dark blue a bit, but not too much because I want it to stay dark. I ended up adopting this colour scheme for this knight.

Decided I'd go with the band of free blades idea and have each one with a unique look among the others with their own heraldry.

Not quite done yet, ended up with a huge painting session yesterday which got a lot of it done.

Have to highlight a bunch still then for the base I'm thinking it either needs shading work, flock or both still.

Nice job on the blues. They look brilliant.

Finished the Knight now.

I like how this mask really hides the eyes easy allowing the monoeye look to be pretty easy.

Said it before Blue is amazing, looking great.

And here it is looking better now without that crappy freehand.

I screwed up the white transfers I had since they're not the slide ones as I found out and in the end I got a yellow one to sort of half stay then simply painted over it and fixed the breaks in it with white instead. Left the light blue split blank as a space to display kill markings.

Not much to the update, been looking around for ideas for objective markers the obvious thing that comes to mind are flags but first seeing if I can find some decent banners or a post to hang the Knight banner from. If I can't, looks like I'm making my own which would at least give me activity here.

I ordered a new transfer sheet from china for the knights, turns out they're really good.

Did nothing but sit it in water for about a minute after cutting it out carefully and it doesn't even have that sort of bubble of transparency around it the GW ones do. I did cut it to minimise that in case it happened, expecting to paint over it in the end, but it just worked so pretty happy with them.

As for the banner, as I've finally decided on the Knights properly their flags would look like this.

Plan is at the moment to add in a few generic cannon fodder knights to go with this leader, but I've also been tempted looking around for suitable models to represent the pilots as well as ideas on how to possibly model the cockpit of them properly. Another thing is though this will be a Zeon based Knight house obviously there is not going to be a Char just yet. If there is it has to be a lancer though.
But for now the more important thing is to get a few more knights going so this is playable and the objective markers as well as I always enjoy actually having made some than using something like a coin. So there's going to be a bit of green for a while. As for the base, it's alright but I think I could have done it better, I have some spare Tau around and figure maybe I can use that on future bases; not having a group of crowded bases but also not having the standing out on a field. And lastly for display like taking photos since they're cheap I've been looking into the Gundam hangar sets.

There's a bunch of them (just over 10 different types) and they all seem just big enough for a single knight each.

Scrolling down they start about mid way. Oh they also can connect to each other with those tabs around the base of them.

Well the hangar arrived today, got the 009 one. It's good and like most gundam related models has a lot of detail packed into it, needs no glue at all.

Measurements are a bit off though.

I'm planning on tracking down another 3 while getting to working on the second knight. All of them from the next on I'll have magnetised to their bases so they can stand in the hangar for display as well as giving something nice to look at when I take pictures of them. Gives the usual stuff a rest.

Second hangar set showed up, will be ordering the next two soon then I can get to work adding little details to it.

It'd be a bit bare if left as is, so the idea is to add a banner or two in there somewhere and have a look around in the bits I have to see what else I can get into it. Maybe some of the transfers from the Knight.

So after sort of a lot of lack of updates I've decided to go back to the Eldar.

So back to wraiths which I will be sticking with as my army for 40k. The problem with the knights was mostly their price and the lower count of model made it so I really had long periods in between updates here which are dull.

The first noticable difference here are the bases have rocks, these are going to have sort of rocky snow bases to sort of both fit better with the Dark Eldar I verse a bunch and to contrast the new colour scheme I'll be going with this. Since the Daemons were crushed during moving I've been lacking a pink army, so I figured what better army to paint a bright cheery colour than an army mostly formed by the long dead spirits of a dying race stuffed inside doll bodies. The challenges for this army this time will be both the bases and that I'll be trying to freehand a pattern onto every model in it. Like this.

OOOOO looking forward to this.

Did a bunch of work on the first one. Messing around with the pink first to find something I'm happy with, at first I wanted to have the torso darker, but Horror pink looks red compared to the lighter pink.

And this is how it is currently. Not complete yet as I'm going to do a couple of gems to break up the gun I think and the base needs the snow still which may wait until the rest of the squad is ready.

Just had a quick thought while on a train, but should I stick with snow on these bases or go with grass?

Kanto

I think snow would work better with the colour scheme, anything too green might clash, though it might work if it were fairly bluish grass.
Everything's still looking awesome BTW

Not where I should be

Stick with the snow.

Although maybe yellow/brown burnt grass? Ever seen House of flying daggers, the colours flung about in that are gob smacking, maybe worth just a glance.
