Would be done, but realised I don't have anymore Ogryn flesh wash so, couldn't do anything else with the skin.

Not sure on the skin yet as still getting used to the new flesh wash so far. Think I used too much at the start.

Also despite it apparently being out of production, I managed to track down and order a Claire Adelheid.

Originally the idea ages ago was for a sister superior, however after looking over the new codex and planning out how I want my army more I see how Alphonsine currently doesn't quite fit in with the army; being the only melee element of it so far. So I decided a good idea would be to create a third leader for the army to take the place as the current Canoness, only completely ranged. With how the squads are now built in the book I can at least make a 9 sister unit and put the Canoness in there with them in a rhino or somewhere else. Really it just seems to make sense to have a leader want to be at the same range as the rest of the army and not always wanting to be the only one up close and in their face at half the range of the rest of the squads. And in 6th it just feels obvious that a safer warlord would pay off better than a risky one for my army.

So the plan at the moment is to convert the spear arm to hold a bolter (I've ordered a Phobos pattern boltgun for this) then sculpt on some sleeves. However I haven't figured out the backpack yet. I've been looking at the maxmini ones, but still thinking unless anyone has some good ideas.

Actually the skin wash seems to work nicely.
Which one did you use?
I mostly use the Gryphonne Sepia or the new replacement wash for it. Works rahter well when using Elf Flesh as base color.
It's amazing to see how crude and male the Sisters face looks, especially compared to some of the new releases like the Statuesque Female heads or the Claire above.

Oh it's Reikland Fleshshade on Deneb stone. I might try you're method as well as I'd like to have more variation among the troops. Also have decided to go with the maxmini backpacks, managed to find someone selling some SoB on ebay with those backpacks instead of the normal ones; unpainted seems they run a bits store.

And yeah it's always a shame the SoB have such manly faces.
Some of them are alright, but most of them especially the grenade pin in mouth one aren't. Really can't wait for some new ones or some suitable replacements that fit the theme a bit better. At least if they were plastic with man faces third party heads would be easier.

Not really liking the entire head area on this one just yet. :/

Still, just getting back into the swing of things I suppose.

Almost done with it now, face is plainer than normal but I'm starting to like it now.

Also the Canoness model had arrived as well as the bolter, way faster than I expected.

Still need to sculpt on the sleeves which will cover what's left of the spear on the arm, the back is filed down and waiting for the SoB to arrive with the maxmini backpacks for it, going with the one on the right here.

The bolter seems to cover the face a bit, but I was going for a pose where she's just lowered it a little to give out a quick order.

Just have to do the lens on the gun and this is done.

Also a shot of all the current completed infantry. Split into the squads.

When the two flamer sisters arrive with the backpacks the third squad will be at 9 strong; perfect for the Canoness to attach to later in a transport. Still to do though is to find suitable models to replace the superiors of the first and third squad with bolter wielding superiors, since I never intend to get them into combat. Which also makes me question the idea of running flamers instead of storm bolters, but then that'd come in handy for taking points and defending charges a little. Though the command squad could sit out and the celestians from it could work as the superiors.

Also the first squad (far left), I could probably strip and repaint those as looking back at them they don't look as good as the rest of the army anymore. Not all of them as some of them are fine.

I like the little splashes of gold among the white and blue. Stands out quite nicely.

It'd probably be worth stripping the sisters.......

Sorry. Couldn't help myself. Bringing them up to the standards of the rest of your army would seem like a solid choice.

Thanks.

Sort of meant this to break it up before I went onto the other two sisters, but it ended up being extremely quick so the plasma generator is now done already.

Well this was quick to paint as well and happy with it already. Have three objective markers now for the Sisters.

Burning heretic? Love it.
I think you got the glow on the ground around the heretic just right. Looks bloody brilliant.

Did you make that yourself or did you buy it from somewhere?

Yep, I like how it's praying as well not just waving arms around cause it's on fire.

Here's the current one I'm working on at the moment.

Really quite happy with how the face has turned out on this one.

That face is excellent. The eyes and lips are spot on. The skin tone is solid and it's all framed nicely by her nun issue hair cut.

It's over because we've decided it's over. Now get the hell out of our galaxy! Both of you.

Thanks guys

This has to be the battle sister I'm pleased with the most so far.

Up next is to work a bit on the canoness and wait for the backpack to get here with two more flamers or to start stripping the more ugly older sisters to bring them up to the new standard again.

Wow, the skin tone on the face is perfect now
I like the hair and lip color too.
Good job.
How do they look in a group?
Cheers

Mixing in the sepia wash really helped it out in the end instead of using just the flesh wash and the base colour.

Here's the third squad so far.

Plan to bring in another battle sister and the storm bolters will be replaced with flamers later when they arrive.

It took me the better part of forever to get all the way through this but... wow!
There is some amazing stuff in here. The scratch built stuff is so inventive! I look forward to see how things continue to progress here.

Forgive me now! Tomorrow I may no longer feel guilty...
