Certainly given me something to think about. Hadn't thought of trying to replicate the models in their current design and go with it from there.

Probably what's worse about these (other then them looking like lumps of gak ) is that I couldn't get the scales I spent ages sculpting on the right one. Going with two different types to start off with, the failed ones can probably be salvaged to become the final design I go with. Basically the left one is going to be a more sleeker version of it while the right one has some armour to be added to it, still looking fast hopefully but also beefy enough to fill the 40mm base better. These are both probably small as I had no 40mm bases spare at the time and estimated really.

I think they'd work with the Daemonette torso, as I've made them with that in mind so far. I've not really sculpted things from scatch so these will likely be pretty rough to start with.

ok... i think the lighting did some crude job on your efforts as well... but your effort i think pretty much sums up what you already named yourself... i am wondering how long these...lumps...for a loss of a better word will stay in the gallery LOL...

heck mate...even filling for me is a hard job! so every sculpting is a million times better´n what i can come up with atm...!

also... maybe you should have made a skeleton of wire first? for the general direction? and then work up with the sculpting material? i dunno... i come to think that GS isn´t all what it cracked up to be... i have recently tried working with milliput... when it is hard it is hard! GS is just better to stick on something in the first place... so you have to think what kind of material you want to work at first... by the way... to get a smooth sculpt right from the start and not so much kneading and punching you should work with milliput frist... later on for details then GS... but that is just from my personal expierience...and only so far... could change^^

Hmm thinking about it I have about a drawer of toy animals about the right size, perhaps I can rummage through them again and find something suitable; perhaps make it like a centaur. Not the best thing, but it'd probably be easier to do, trick is to make it look good.

Found a couple of eels before, but their pose wouldn't work out with it I think. That's the fun thing about blogs you can try out lots of new things and get feedback as you go.

how about some ant like beings? i recently saw a so called formicula figure on ebay... from D&D...maybe that idea could help you? insects i think could be a good basis...

I like the pictures that come up when I google formicula.

It's like the spider conversions floating around, but they'd have a more sleeker appearence.

I vote against bug like conversions. Stick with the greenstuff work! Nurgle is more about the bugs, Slaanesh is more about the exotic sea-creatures. But some slicker-looking claws are always good to stick on...

As for the greenstuff... get some jewellery or modelling wire, wrap the greenstuff around it. First look around for flat surfaces with a scaly like texture. Make sure to keep it wet with water. roll the greenstuff out, with the wire in the middle, to make the shape of a long tapered body like a snake's (that will turn into a torso at the top, you could probably attach torso at this point). Then let it harden so that it's semi-hard, and the texture is more or less locked into the surface, but it should still be bendable. Twist it around into the shape of a snake rearing up, and hopefully the wire will keep the shape you twist it into while it does the rest of the hardening. If you want something more hardcore then stick some slick, sharp looking claws..... 'nid bits or chaos spawn bits are great, coming out of the snake body.

Actually as a fiend is more like a beast, rather than Daemonette I would use seeker bits to make one. Maybe grab a single seeker model, cut off the head and stick it on a larger serpentine body armed with various claws... see I am getting all excited now.

Well this was a somewhat quick update. Started working on it, as I do most of the time after an update, then kept going at it until it was done instead of posting WIP pictures like I had hoped. Before I knew it I was doing the highlights and it was done.

Not sure about the coat though, looks better in person. Perhaps I should retake the picture of it.

Lil mosters! haha! Lady GaGa's style

are those demonette desings actually inspired by Lady Gaga herself? (and are you a fan of her? meow)

Hello,
Have you looked at Sersi's work, http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/235930.page he has a long blog on Dakka here about building a converted Slaaneshi force, he also sculpted his own fiends as well as an KoS, among others. It may help with inspiration.

Regards,
Carl

No, spraying three colors on your minis does not count as painted! 5k+

@Lone Cat: Didn't really have her in mind at all when working on this.

@Ghiest: Hadn't looked at it before, but gave it a look over and it has sort of given me some ideas.

Browsing around looking for inspiration I remembered these.

those coryphee minis look as if they might work...but i am afraid i think they look even more disturbing that the actual GW mini^^ also their dresses...how would you want to incorporate that look to your fluff?

Well they're mannequins, obviously Daemonic constructs of Slaanesh.

This is if I do go with them in the end.

I've been thinking about just using Spawn really, seen others do it and they seem to work. Added in with that Fiends used to just be Spawn with a MoS.

Anyway since people liked the blue I figured, what the hell I'll keep going with it. The skin tone can be the binding colour.

So now to start off a mini tutorial on how I got the colour the first time for those who liked it. Also stretches out this last Daemonette for a while.

I tend to do the base for the skin first with a basecoat of Codex Grey, though it may be easier to do the darker base for the blue first. The metal will however be left for a little later. The blue areas are then based with Regal Blue, it is easier to use thin layers to help keep it dark at this point. This also sets the stage for the shading later. Don't worry about getting the blue on the skin at this point as it is easy to clean up any mistakes on the skin at this point and somewhat annoying later on.

The colours you'll need for it are Regal Blue, Enchanted Blue, Hawk Turquoise, Dwarf Bronze, Badab Black, Asurmen Blue, Chaos Black, Skull White, Codex Grey and Black Ink.

ok... i wait till the next updater as for now it is way too early to comment on that scheme... i think my vote will be much more secure after i see the hair done...that always makes your models way more done-looking for me^^

loving the work so far, any idea how big those models are? I could use a few heralds for my own daemons and wondering if they would be too big

They should be on 30mm bases there, Malifaux is 32mm so they should be the right size if not a tiny bit taller.

@Vik: same scheme as that other blue one, I'm jut breaking down how I did it.

Next step is to add Enchanted blue over the Regal Blue, being careful to leave the deepest recesses clear. This is essentially the shade colour of the model.

Continuing do the same with Hawk Turquoise, each new layer leaving a little of the old one at the edges. Hard to spot, but for the hair the tips have been left Enchanted Blue to add the fade effect the last blue one had. It's also at this point that the grey can be cleaned up.

ah...now that is something to truly comment upon....looking good there my friend!

and
being careful to leave the deepest recesses clear[url]
one day i need to get better in doing that... for now i am still bummed if it werent for washes...

On top of the Hawk Turquoise add 1:1 Hawk Turquoise to white.

Then 1:1 of that mixture with some more white. The grey is then touched up on the raised areas making it slightly brighter than the rest.

At this point brightness isn't so much of an issue as it will all get a wash later which dulls it down a bit.

The Coryphee are actually on 40mm bases, but they're close enough to 30mm models that it's mostly fine. See the hastily-taken comparison picture with horrible flash (Sorry I don't collect Marines).

40k Genestealer, Coryphee 1, Coryphee 2, 32mm average-sized Malifaux mini.

Well that solves any confusion, though they may be too small for fiend stand ins then.

I like the effect caused by the light areas, adds to the ghostliness of them.

Thanks guys.

The next step is to give the entire model a light wash of Asurmen blue. It helps to be careful so as to have it glaze the surface evenly going for little to no pooling at all.

Then carefully with a small brush use black ink to base the eyes and collar.

that last step already makes so much diffrence to the mini...the eyes as centre of the soul(less) yet again!!!
