When I found out the news about allowing IA units... I would have sqeed... but of course my red-blooded American Y chromosomes wouldn't let me. I'm not trying to pick on my UK brothers in the hobby, but there must be a genetic difference in the stock (I've seen them squee). Even "The Bard" wrote about it in one of his most famous passages: "To squee, or not to squee, that is the question." Well... that may be the question, but the answer is clearly "no". Get with the program Bill.

The grot tanks are crazy small, they're also crazy fun. I even turned the hull on the one on the right backwards in order to make it look a bit different than another one I have with an identical hull (and it does... completely).

That would make a great bumper sticker for your pick-up trewck: "Yankees don't squee."

While there are a few OP fw units, i've found the majority to be thoroughly underwhelming, leading me to question why people forbid them other than "OMG i dont know what that is so i dont want to play it" xD

Anyway, looking good Gits, your first few grot tanks were amazing and i have no doubt that these will be too.

I think that's the problem Vit. The local meta is *very* competitive with most tournament armies coming from only the top 4 codecii. The top traveling gamers have apparently been burned by OP FW units at major tournaments and didn't want the same experience at home. Now, the whole system is so completely broken that forbidding even the OP FW units seems indefensible. So now that some new folks are taking charge of organizing most of the events, they're changing the dynamic. I'm excited about it personally... but as I said, I don't plan on winning any battles against Taudar or demon flying circuses with my IA orks (mostly grot units).

The Madison group usually has a "Sad Panda" award for the person who gets blanked during a tournament. I figure I'll own that from this point onward. BUT.... my army will look GOOOOOD!

Aye, I concur. Squeezing out a codex for the best killer-combo's just seems silly to me. Fun's definitely the goal imho.

You, or someone else, should start a dynamic campaign system, using some of the new ideas about shaking up the meta. Let the competitive people play in their tournaments and tournament practice games, while you and other folks get to play with all the toys, no matter how silly they end up being.

Let me tell you, the reason I play in tournaments is because it generally allows me to get the most bang for my buck as far as gaming time goes. If someone in the area, however, started a narrative campaign that let me get 2-3 games in on a Saturday, I'd be all in.

I think the group in Madison is actually really taken that bull by the horns and has been provieding a great series of weekly games and monthly tournaments that are re-difining the local 40k gaming scene. The small group I'm closest to up north a bit is still fairly stuck in power-game mode (which is fine really... nothing wrong with an occasional chest beating contest), however even there... folks are interesting in breaking out of the same old grind.

We've been doing a slow-grow league to help new players build up their armies slowly. Been a great experience for me as I've mentioned before. It's not uncommon for me (or the kids) to get 2 or 3 game in in one afternoon or evening. Great learing experience and a lot of fun. It's still pretty competitive among the top players, but there's not too much ego involved for most folks.

I'd love to do a fluffy campaign-type game, but getting everyone scheduled is nearly impossible (with two boys in sports, I'm as guilty of this as anyone). Still, I've volunteered to run one of the local tournaments (with a local pro to handle tournament-day rules questions) and I've been discussing options for how objectives and battles are handled with experienced TOs in the area & have settled on what I hope will be some fun ideas.

Here's an update on the Cambulance. I'm trying to get it painted for a tournament tomorrow. It won't all be done of course... tons and tons of detail to do... but I'm hoping to get the basics done so it looks "finished" on the table. I think this is where I'll leave the trailer for now... need to start on the front (tractor) part.

I think this is as far as I'm going to get before tomorrow. A far cry from being done... but at least everything's painted to some degree. Just thought of an interesting idea for the rails that I might try and pull off. We'll see if I have time.

Even far from done, it is still ne gorgeous model and in most collections that would be it done...You going that step further with it will make this model outstanding, your painting is outstanding as per usual, very characterful

I haven't painted half the details that Cam put into it. I've got a whole bits tray full of things yet to be added (and I'm not done with the main body or cab yet by a long shot). Just tried to get enough done so it'll look decent on the tabletop.

@Cam: Thanks, trying to do it justice. I'm trying to skirt the line between Bad Moon colors and traditional ambulance colors. So far I think I've pulled it off. The white will get a lot less dominating once I've added all the bits that go along with it.

Actually, that's one of the things I'm still looking for. The original build came with a magnetized turret to go on top, but the Cambulance is already over twice as tall (3-4x the mass) of a normal nob bike. So I'll save the turret for one of my battlewagon re-builds and am looking for a working emergency light bar from a toy of some sort that I can wire up. So far, all the working versions I've been able to find are far too big, but if I can even find one that doesen't work, I'll get it on there temporarily until I can find what I really want.
