Bounding Black Templar Assault Marine

in total i collect 3 races, tyranids, tau and very resently, chaos space marines. the mix is so i can vary tactics, convertions, painting etc and each army will be based on a tactic. nids is going to be swarm based, while tau were going to be mech tau with a significant amount of piranas, but i am going to redesign it because of the 5th edition rules of only troops can capture objectives.

but, i hear you ask, has that got anything to do with my chaos list? well, i wanted to go for a list with a small amount of strong units, which will contrast with the nid swarm. the armys i thought of which will be best for this are chaos and space marines, and imo, space marines are boring, so iv settled for chaos. and apon reading the codex, imo, i feel that nurgle hav the coolest fluff and look the best, and they would work well for a list like this because of 5 toughness and 'feel no pain'.

i came up with a list which im not 100% happy with, but i can't put my finger on what it is. it mite be because i feel that are not enough troops in it and they would be easily outmanovered, or that the terminators cost a lot of points and mite not be effective but i there is somthing else nagging at me and i can't figure out what it is, and i would like to hear your suggestions for improving it.

now onto the important bit...

i would like to have a heavily nurgle based list, therefore only chaos space marines and plague marines as troops, perferably plague marines, and i want to take advantage of the personal icons, so a significant amount of deepstriking units, thererfore a significant amount of terminator armour, which ties in nicely with the elite idea. i know that lost of people dont like dreadnorghts, but i really want an excuse to get the forge world dreadnorght ( http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/dgdread.htm ) because it looks so good, plus i will probz be playing cityfight and i heard that they are good in that, coupled with a defiler.

here is the list, bare in mind that everything in terminator armour will be deepstriking

Looks quite.
I play a Noise Marine army with 10 Termies, too.
They are not that good as loyal Termies but they are still quite durable, and serve me well as a shock & awe unit.

My own comments from limited experience would be to drop the terminators down to 5 man transportable squads. the reaper just doesn't do a thing for me, looked cool when I started playing but then I realized, 2 shots ok str only so so AP just nothing to really write home about. From what I can tell chaos termies are either for land raiders or termicide squads(3 man squads deep struck with combi meltas). dreadnaughts are not that hot due to going berserk 1/3 of the time, the save points could definatly go elsewhere. Also I think your defiler will stick out like a sore thumb. Basically every antitank weapon on the field will be pointing at it first turn. 2 more obliterators are likely a better choice. Anyway just my 2 pennies.

Order, Chaos, these are words. Chaos is not something you fight against, order is not something you protect. They have no more power then that which we give them
And I will not prepetuate that there is something inheirently wrong with chaos.

This list can use some work. It isn't focused.

Not every terminator has to have dual lightning claws. With 2 Reaper cannons you need everyone else to be using a gun to actually do any damage at range. Also, if a Dread charges you, that squad is toast. Regular Terminators are fine, you'll only need maybe 2 Chainfists and a Powerfist in that squad. If they are going to be slogging it, give them a IoN. I'd suggest dropping the squad down to 4 man (1 Heavy Flamer/Chainfist, 2 with Combi-Melt, 1 Chainfist) and ride around with the Lord in a Landraider for my next point.

The Defiler is going to get munched without any heavier armor to distract from it (the Dreadnought doesn't count as heavier armor). I'd drop the Dreadnought anyway, it's going to get immobilized and/or exploded and be completely useless. Defilers are meant to be vultures, firing on the enemy as they close in. Your guns are going to get torn off, and you will be immobilized just like the Dread. Take him with a Havoc Launcher and Reaper so he can fire once that Battlecannon gets esploded and is stuck immobilized (and it will happen alot). A Landraider will help draw fire from the Defiler, as they don't want the terminators getting into CC more than they want to shut up that Defiler.

If you want more troops, break the Plague Marine squads into 7s and get another squad of 7. There isn't a bonus for it anymore, but 7 is sturdy number and lets you have more scoring elements. Trust me, a Bolter has a 1/50 chance of killing a Plague Marine. These guys are insanely tough. All the Plague Marines are going to want Champs and guns, and the Champs are going to want Powerfists.

Gonna have to agree with the Small Wyrm of Slaanesh, drop the termy squad down to where the Lord can come with them in a LR.

To get the points, drop the dread and the left over Termies.

Choosing Nurgle has no bearing on whether you want to get close or fight at range. It always changes both into a war of attrition that you can, and will, win.
