Having recently re-entered the 40K universe I have decided to commence a DIY SM Chapter, this time with some thought.
After reading the Soul Drinkers omnibus I liked the idea of a loyal yet unfairly wronged chapter crusading in the Emperor's name and kicking all kinds of ass.
Seeing some amazing conversion work on SM bike Chaplains I went through a very old and assorted bits box for inspiration.
With this inspiration I've used pieces of Chaos miniatures from Warhammer and 40K, preloved bits - even jewellery chain.
As a WIP I've decided to post these pics for some constructive criticism and helpful feedback.

Looks like an old-school bolter with parts from a plastic Ork plasma gun.

Correct! I've since added greenstuff to it to simulate a weapon harness for the bike.

As confirmed earlier combi-weapon consists of 2nd ed SM bolter with a Plasma pistol mounted above.

Since my last post on the 6th Jan I've been racing to complete the mini for a gaming convention held in Canberra annually on the Australia Day weekend - CANCON.
My mini was judged in the 25-30mm SF/Fantasy mini category but didn't place. I'm not really surprised, the competition was excellent, although the quantity of minis was disappointing. However, not having picked up a brush or stuck my fingers together for about two years I was pleased to see that I gave a good accouting of my rusty skills.
Anyway here's the finished project and since my wife had to suffer the loss of our kitchen table for the past 20 days I gave her the naming rights. She called the Terra Lords biker chaplain, Gerald. Methinks Gerald will be changing his name at the nearest Administratum offices.

VERY nice work. I really like the combiplasma idea, though I'd probably have left the boltgun's barrel on, and carved the plasma sheathing around it.

Freehand skulls look top-notch. Very impressive!
