Back then, EVERYTHING was smaller. Metal was expensive. And they were larger than the original Imperial Dreadnought Suits!
Anyways, thanks for the complements! I do not expect to add to this 'nid collection, I'm just having fun painting miniatures for the sake of painting miniatures, and building up some small skirmish forces for scenario gaming.
And, while I respect people who paint their bugs like Earth insects....they're not from earth! PAINT DIFFERENT. My hero is whomever painted the cel-shaded pink ad green ' ids on this site. So creepy.

Very very true...
And yes, exactly, bugs aren't even from our galaxy... but, everyone has their take on them tbh. Mine is one of natural colours, and that the hive fleet would adapt the colours of their creations to suit the enviroment of the prey world. in the case of tunnelling bugs, why bother giving them a colour when they tunnel etc.
And lol yes, those bugs make me need sunshades though :/

I like your yellow mottled carapaces. They look good and appropriately bug-y.

I may buy one "big" bug, like a Lictor or something, if I see one cheap, or get it in trade.

Yeah, see, I'm old-school. This whole 7th edition kaiju BS doesn't do anything for me. All of a sudden, it's become rock-em sock-em robots in 40K, and I find it to be magnificently BORING.

I brought the red panels up to color, then washed them with my old friend "Soft Body Black". Next up is to bring the white panels from primer brown to white, with an intermediate step of light grey. Then it'll be black, windows, and metallics, finished off with a few decals and some work on the ground/dirt to match the rest of my usual terrain.
I feel like I am some early 2000's throwback, using dry brushing and static grass. Better than sawdust and Goblin Green, I suppose.
