how is anima? I ran into the artist a long time ago on deviantart and after bought the model from CMON I always wanted to try it out

I see the book at my FLGS, I think I might pick it up now.

I'm also very jealous of your haul, I can't wait to see what you do with all that plastic.

I haven't played Anima yet. So far I know of only one of my friends who wants to get into it. Anima Tactics Oracle has some of the stats and stuff if you want to check it out. You can download the rules here as well as for Hell Dorado... another game with some interesting designs. I might purchase the Anima Tactics rulebook next paycheck.

My crap just keeps piling up. It grows faster than I can work on my projects. Recently I did some 'panic' buying of metal GW stuff and will post that stuff up.

Some 'panic' purchases in light of recent GW news (move to resin/plastic and price hike).

Dark Eldar Mandrakes

Eldar Stuff... Avatar, rangers, striking scorpions

Space Marine stuff... Sgt. Telion, Termie Libby, Scout w/ ML, and Sicarius

Stay tuned for more 'panic' buying... *bites nails*

A couple GW blisters I ordered from the website.

Some stuff I'll use if I ever need to strip miniatures.

I scouts for a future project. (I may not hold on to these)

Last of my purchases before I start a huge effort to try to pay off a credit card.

Some Gundam kits I bought as a random purchase. I used to love doing these kits like 10 years ago, and a little candy shop I was in was selling a couple kits. I got 2 for the price of 1.

I ordered some sprues for Land Raider Lascannons. I think It might have been unnecessary. I'm not even sure why I bought them.

Some more 'metal panic' purchases. These are 'named' Catachans.

Sly Marbo

Stracken

Harker

More 'Metal Panic' purchases ordered from GW's site. These are Orks.

Kommando with burna

Snikrot

Ammo Runts... I bought 2 packs of these.

Next update... maybe some actual 'work'bench stuff and not just purchases

Some actual work.

After applying some Vallejo Black Grey to my Malifaux models I used some of the leftover paint on this puppy.

A little under a week later, after applying Dark Grey to my Malifaux models I used some of the leftover paint to add a lighter layer to Grumlok.

Next Update, I'll probably have more Grumlok work. He's pretty much my 'inbetweener' during my Malifaux project.

Now that I'm done with my Tau army project, I'm going to revisit my 'Can Opener' project. Its a 'bike' army utilizing Codex: Space Marines. At first I was going to have it be an Ultramarines army but I think I'm going to save that for a mech list. The look of this army will be Chaos Space Marines. I'm still deciding on Black Legion (black and gold) or World Eaters (red and gold). Right now I've purchased a bunch of kits for a kind of 'dry fit'. The Chaos Space Marines don't have Attack Bike models so I'm going to kit bash a Space Marine Attack Bike with a Chaos Space Marine Bike. I've also purchased a box of Chaos Space Marines to get a feel for what I'll have to work with as far as customization. The Predator I purchased might be replacing some scouts I had intended for the project.

I'll start having some posts showing the progress of my Khador work in a couple days.

I've kind of slowed down with the work on my Khador. The last thing I did was prime the rest of the models. That was maybe 1 or 2 weeks ago.

And here are some random Space Marines with special and heavy weapons (I built a guy with a MM too but I guess I forgot to take his picture).

Here are some Sergeants; a couple general use sergeants and one Devastator sergeant (middle).

Here is a Warriors of Chaos Sorcerer Lord. I think its a wicked boss looking model... but I might have messed up on the placement of the head.

I ruined my Deathwatch Space Marine.

Too much primer really obscured a lot of the details. I'll probably set this one aside and just use during games as a regular Devastator with Heavy Bolter..

I started over with a new Deathwatch Space Marine. This one I decided to have using a Thunder Hammer.

Hmmm, primer looks a bit heavy, probably not up to the job?? I think both of those but definitely the first one need a couple of days in your paint stripping tub and then some attention with a toothbrush so you can start again, that first one is a cool model under all that paint!!

Oh, and I am seriously proud of your hoarding rate/work rate balance, learning well you are young padewan, I spend far more time de-sprueing kits I've got into neatly organised and compartmentalised boxes that I do actually building or painting anything. I do have the best bits box(es) ever though... could raise several serious armies out of stuff in the bits box!!

Project: Captain Browning Highpower's Charge

A 1850pt Ultramarine Space Marine Army for a 'hobby challenge'.

I haven't posted any work in a while. I almost was going to stop... I lasted 2 or 3 months before I had the shakes. I had to get back into the spin o' things. I started dabbling with some Dark Eldar kits. I had some notion to start a Dark Eldar army. But Dark Eldar is not where my heart lies (though some would tell you different heh). Deep down I'm a power armor kind of dude. I decided to revisit a list that I was working on prior to work stoppage. I originally called the list the 'Can Opener'. The first iteration was rife with meltagun toting bikers and land speeders. With some help from folks on DakkaDakka, I was able to tune it a little. It must have went through 5 or 6 drafts before coming to what I now call 'Captain Browning Highpower's Charge'. I've ditched the Can Opener name since it isn't mostly focused on opening up transports or vehicles anymore. Its a little more 'general use'. The captain's name is one I used to use with my space marine captains in my earliest armies. I thought I'd bring the name back.

The list is mostly bikes and other vehicle type units:

1 Captain on a bike
3 bike squads
2 riflemen dreads
2 Storm Talons
1 Vindicator
1 Predator

Here is the exact list:

HQ
Captain
-Space Marine Bike
-Power Sword
-Plasma Pistol
-Digital Weapons
-Melta Bombs

Troop
Bike Squad x10
-Plasmagun x2
-Sgt w/ combi-plasma and melta bombs
-Attack bike w/ heavy bolter

Bike Squad x10
-Plasmagun x2
-Sgt w/ combi-plasma and melta bombs
-Attack bike w/ heavy bolter

Bike Squad x10
-Meltagun x2
-Sgt w/ combi-melta and melta bombs
-Attack bike w/ Multi-melta

Elite
Dreadnought
-2x Twin-linked Autocannons

Dreadnought
-2x Twin-linked Autocannons

Fast Attack
Storm Talon
-Typhoon Missile Launcher

Storm Talon
-Typhoon Missile Launcher

Heavy Support
Vindicator
-Siege Shield

Predator
-Autocannon
-Heavy Bolter Sponsons

It comes to 1850 on the dot.

Here are some progress pics. I don't have everything bought yet but I did get started on what I did have... a little... I mostly just put together a dread with its legs and then clipped some bits from some sprues for my Captain and Sergeants. Actually I'm kind of debating if I want to go for the Devastator flat top head for the Captain or just a helmet.

I'm still waiting for some materials for Projet: Captain Highpower's Charge.

I've decided to change the army from an Ultramarines army to a chapter of my own creation: The Heralds of the Protomartyr. And the Captain will actually be Browning Highpower's cousin. Xavier.

In the meantime here's a random Deathwatch Space Marine (kitbashed from Commander and Devastator kits using bits I might not use for the Highpower project):

I did a little bit of work on Projet: Captain Highpower's Charge as well as some random stuff.

I started building whatever Space Marine Bikers I had. From the Ravenwing Battleforce kit I was able to build 7 normal bikes. I added, frag and krak grenades, and a bolt pistol to each bike. Also for the project I built 2 Storm Talons with Skyhammer Missile Launchers. I'm switching from Typhoon to Skyhammer because I want to roll more dice.

These are the first Storm Talons I put together and they were fun to work with.

Just for kicks I built a Ravenwing themed Land Speeder Typhoon. I built it before the bikes and the Storm Talons because I was waiting for some bits to arrive.

Here's the first bike for the project.

Here are four of them.

Here is a shot of the seven I've got built so far.

Here's 1 of 2 Storm Talons I built for the project

Here's the Ravenwing Land Speeder Typhoon I built for fun... you can't see it from this angle but towards the rear, on the sides, I have some Ravenwing iconography.

I did a little bit of work on Projet: Captain Highpower's Charge as well as some random stuff.

I got 5 more bikes done and just for fun built two Devastators carrying Plasma Cannons.

The bikes with bolt pistols added.

The grenades for the bikes.

The bikes with the grenades added (just need 3 more of these guys then I move on to making the Plasma/Melta gun carrying guys)

A couple Devastators with Plasma Cannons. I've put these up for trade/sale... they were for another army but I think I need to focus on this current project.

I built some 'Devastator Veterans' for fun; Space Marines with Heavy Weapons and decorative bits to imply they're vets.

I built some Tac Marines with special weapons for fun. I kind of flopped on the Plasma Gun marine... I never was good with those when I keep the shoulder thingie attached.

I built some Space Wolf Terminators for fun. These were the first Space Wolf models I ever worked on. I like the detail on the sculpt of the bits. I may consider a Space Wolf army after my current project.

Here are some pictures of work on my 'project'.

I put a couple of Forge World autocannons on one of the Dreads. The autocannons are the first 2 Forge World pieces I've worked with.

Here are some of the bases I'll be working with. The pictures don't really do them justice. They're 'flight deck' themed bases from Secret Weapon Miniatures.

My plan for working with the bases and the models is that I'll paint them separately. I'll put them together by pinning the models to the bases. Here are the feet of the one Dread that I have built and the bottom of one of the bikes with pins.

For the flight bases and stands of the Storm Talons, I'll be pinning the stands to the bases (they're Secret Weapon Miniatures bases as well).

OH-I Wanna get out of here

Glad to see you back at it. Have you ran the points on the same list in DA? Would obviously have to change the planes out, but you may be able to squeeze a few more models in.

Is the captain's name reference to the Browning hi power gun?

I tried making a Ravenwing equivalent. I forget what the model count was but I think it was about the same except instead of Dreads and Tanks I had more bikes and some speeders. I'll have to make that list again. I might do it when I'm done with this project.

Yup! The cap is named after the gun. I first heard about the gun from the Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter books. The captain's name is sort of an homage to the main character who uses a browning hi power.

The work on Highpower's Charge continues...

I continued the pinning work. With the glue dry from adding the pins to the models, I put a bit o' black paint on the pin tips and pressed them to the bases to mark them. Then when the paint dried I drilled the holes and did a fitting of the models to the bases.

Here's more stuff that arrived. Its the rest of the models I'll need for the army. More bikes... a commander kit... a couple tanks... and a dread...

I finished up the rest of the normal bikers and then worked on the special weapons bikes, sergeant bikes, captain, and the 2nd dread.

Captain Browning Highpower's Charge is built!

Last night I put pins into the remaining bikes and dread.

Last night I put together a Vindicator. I incorporated a Forge World rear hatch and magnetized the demolisher cannon.

This morning I worked on a Predator. I incorporated a Forge World rear hatch as well as a Forge World front part. I magnetized the heavy bolter sponsons.

I added banners to the sergeants. I was worried they'd snap off so I pinned them onto the back packs.

I marked and drilled the bases for the remaining bikes and dread this morning. All the bikes now are fitted to bases.

Captain Browning Highpower's Charge:

Captain Highpower

Squad Designate 'Nine Em Em'

Squad Designate 'Point Four Five'

Brother Smith

Vindicator Designate 'Dardanelles'

Storm Talons Designate 'Apache' and 'Hind'

Brother Wesson

Squad Designate 'Excimer'

Predator Designate 'Abrams'

Turns out I wasn't totally done with the build of the project. I forgot to take care of the gun barrels and exhaust pipes. I used a manual pin vise for the smaller barrels. For the bigger barrels I broke out my dremel.

I painted as much as I could on the captain. I'm waiting for some more colors to arrive to finish him off. I'm still undecided as to how to do the axe blade. I also still have to do the base. For that I'm waiting on some black primer to arrive and then I'll get started painting it.

Due to some recent point changes I've had to modify the list. It now includes a Skyshield Landing Platform.

On a whim I thought I'd practice some magnetizing. So far all I've done is cut or trim down a bit o' plastic with clippers and then replace those areas with magnets. This time I thought I'd give a shot at drilling holes and putting magnets in them. I made this 'modular' sergeant. Some time I plan to do this again with a captain and include options so that the captain can be used on a bike, standing, or with a jump pack.

The colors I needed came in yesterday and I was able to finish up the captain. The base I primed last night then painted this morning.

Here is the finished product:

Today I primed one of the bike squads and their bases.

Yesterday, I purchased a Terminator Lord and a box of Chaos Terminators. Using bits from both kits and some magnets, I made a 'modular' lord. I need to work on my skills with placing the magnets. Drilling holes is fun and all but it sucks when it comes time to applying some glue and then trying to place the tiny magnet. The glue all over my fingers is worth seeing the finished product though.

Also look what arrived midday today...my Cygnar stuff! Its enough to make two 35 pt armies. I'll be using eHaley and pStryker for each of them. After I finish the bike army of course.
