Hi all can anyone give me some ideas on demonic terrain and the like?

I am going to make an island board with piles of stepping skulls and bone bridges etc. but i need more ideas.

If people can give me some i will make a tutorial on how i make the board.

If you could tell me where you get the inspiration from it would be great!

Make the architecture insane and magnetize all of it so your units can go upside down and such.

A few years back, GW did a set of demon world tables. I don't remember if it was in WD or online.

You seem partial to Khorn. Do a google image search for Khorn like words - brass, axe, skull, temple, ... Or go to Deviant art - lots of good ideas there.

Craters with Giant gapping maws
Trees with faces
Rivers of blood
Trees covered in diseased spots/boils
Houses with boobs()
Gysers of blood and boddies
Trees of Bodies coated in brass

etc.

I have only one suggestion: make a hill with an eye, watching the battlefield.

Try and incorporate living features into the terrain. One Nurgle terrain idea had the ground growing boils that spewed pus (the boils were made with styrofoam balls cut in half). Tzeentchan terrain would tend to defy conventional logic, so make things taht shouldnt be (like floating rocks, eyes and flesh randomly cropping out, and maybe the half-alive remains of someone unfortunate enough to teleport into rock). Slaanesh will likely follow the same thing, with tentacles and contrasting (not vibrant though, that is for tzeentch) all over the place. Khorne is easily the easiest of all 4, since you just need an abundance of runes and skulls everywhere, and trophies like the trees made of bodies and rivers of blood mentioned by FM Ninja. Brass chains with cages should also be used for Khorne and monolithic runes should be everywhere.

Basically anything that doesnt make sense, hills that are sort of like ramps that go upside down (maybe count them as bunkers or something) random eyes/hands/ect. coming out of anything, floating rocks, liquid flowing uphill, ect.

Some sort of sleeping giant demon that looks like a mountain. From aerial view it is far more obvious what it is... Or Giant weapons strewn across the field. And generally any sort of writhing mass of bodies, buy a set of Vamp Count Ghouls and go crazy....

check out Jedah's Stage from Darkstalkers (or Vampire Savior, forgot which one was the name) 3. It has a giant daemonic fetus in the background and lots of fleshy bits, which is great for a daemon world imo.

Hi Nickick, have you considered looking into other media, my first thought personally was The Oblivion realm from the Elder Scrolls game. Very demonic looking architecture, also maybe look at some of the conceptual art for films such as LOTR, especially the twin towers.

For an evolution of MechEmperor7000's nurgle theme why not consider something like this tutorial.

i will try To offer you some advise, but what is the situation of the board? under attack? brand new? halfway through a major campaign? i have tons of ideas but i need to know what you want pm if you want

Yay im a blood sacrifice!

Me and 2 friends have decided to change it a bit.
we are going to do a chaos, imperium and necron board.
we will make some 2ft by 2ft bouards that are modular so we can swap it around. All we need are ideas on what to make it out of (other than clay) and maybe some necron ideas. i will post up more later.

we hope to get started after christmas.

The fluff behind the board is that an ancient tomb world was discovered by the imperium, because of its resources. it was close to the warp though and chaos soon attacked. the imperium is down to its last few mega strong points. unfortunately all the comotion has woken up the necrons...

Im having a hill with three eyes in the nurgle section

Go start a fire, wait for it to burn out, and use the ashes as well... ashes. Flock. Use lots of red and ruin. That feels demonic to me.

And Khorne has pillboxes and turrets etc.
