So you bought the codex/army book, read the fluff and rules, then set out to buying your army. You painted your models and even made conversions and then played some games. But after a while, there was a unit or two or a certain model that you just stopped using, opting instead for something more "worthwhile." This was a unit that you thought was "cool" or whatever, but for one reason or another (new editions, dropped from rulebook, not competitive enough, etc.) they just don't see that much table time as the rest of your army. Now it just sits on your shelf or in your army transport collecting dust.

For me, it is my Chaos Terminators. I love the models, but don't like the rules. The only tiime I ever use them is if I am playing my Blood Angels Death Company army in an Apocalypse game, and that has been only once. I will give them a Chaplain and Priest to make them more Death Company-like, and that can get expensive. But in a regular game of 40K, there just seems to be more stuff that is better to take in the Chaos Codex.

So which model or unit is it for you?

Dont recall the last time I used them. I keep meaning to but everytime I get down to those last few points to spend, something else pops up.

Hmm, not counting armies that I really haven't even played with (my tau), or armies that I intentionally bought huge becaue they were cheap (2nd edition eldar), I'd say the following are all units I've painted but have never used in a game:
1) Techpriest Enginseer
2) Vindicaire Assassin (painted as DH ally)
3) "proper" marbo (I use the RT era assassin)
4) LR Punisher
5) Creed/Kell with command squad

There are some units that get very rarely used outisde of big Apoc Games:
1) 10+ Sentinels
2) 48 stormtroopers in 6 squads
3) 28 Rough riders
4) 10 Ogryn
5) LR Vanquisers
6) LRBTs
7) LR Exterminators
8) griffon, Basilisk
9) AC/HB Landspeeders
10) HB devestators
11) SM Assault squads w/ Jump packs
12) Shooting terminators w/ ACs

Space marine scouts have always been a thing for me but not just because of the rules, i also really don't enjoy painting them so i always leave them out now!

Chaos Space marine bikes. Fragile, and at a wopping 35p a bike, just base cost, and the upgrades they require, you are getting close to a squad of CSm with special weapons in a rhino. I hate them.

Techpriest eninseers and techmarines for me. They just dont seem worth the points.

Techmarines for me too - I have literally about 6 or 7 of the bloody things knocking about that never see the light of day.

I very rarely use my Terminators and/or my Scouts.
I prefer Company Veterans for Elites.

Swooping Hawks, trust me when I say there are no words to describe just how disappointed I am in that unit. Looks cool, then you open the box, throw them together then put them in a game.

I suppose I could use the wings for conversions (Guy who works at the local GW uses them for Seraphim wings and they look pretty cool) though, they basically don't stay on the SH anyway.

Command Squad. It might just be the way I have it kitted out, but the darned unit has just never earned its points back.

Scouts.. Even when I play 40,000 point apoc games I still cant find room for them..

for me:

storm troopers. never know what to take out to put them in.
astropath/master of the fleet. just cant seem to spend 30 points on models that might not be needed.

Tau Etherials. I have all of them (modelwise) and have never played with any of them

My Dark Elves rarely see Cold One Knights now, sadly, and my Empire no longer runs pistoliers =/

My 3rd edition CSM, BA and Nids.

They'd get trashed in 5th... And to focused on Eldar / DE to make them workable again.

Also my LATD mutant units, that can't be used. (working on making them "counts as" henchmen... somehow)

Predator Annihilator. Got it in my original lump of models I got off Ebay when I started playing. Only played it 1-2 times back then and once they new Long Fangs came out it became even more useless to me since it costs more and does less.

Not very good units in a not very good army. Vanguard may see life again but the Captain won't...

Ghazghkull Thraka. Bought the model. Assembled and painted yet never played. He doesn't seem worth it in the types of games I play, 1500pts Speed Freaks. Maybe once I get a horde of Ork Boyz painted up and we play 2000pts then I'll consider him.

The other ones are Killa Kans and especially my Deff Dredd. Deff Dread has NEVER killed a thing!

Uh metal space marine command squad got the complete squad. Still hasn't seen a game after at least 10 years (since painting let alone buying).....Don't quite know why.
