Hello.

At once I ask to excuse for my bad English language.

I have decided to construct a diorama on which will be present damaged Leman Russ.

Leman Russ which firm GW offers me not absolutely arranges. Therefore I do now conversion of this tank:

Has made imitation of connections of armored sheets.
Has established a spare fuel tank.

Still completions:

Has made an open door in the case through which there was a crew.

I simulate the main damage of the tank:

Has established additional armored sheets on the case, has altered a place of the driver:

This beginning. I will continue.

Dmitry.

Nice so far, my only suggestion is to pop open as many of the hatches as possible. It's a trick that armour modelers use to add more interest to the piece and make it more realistic (after all, the crew's going to escape out of the closest exit if the tank starts fire!).

LordCreed, ancientsociety - thanks for responses.

Diorama theme (as I think) - orks shot at the tank and have damaged it. The tank has stopped, but continued to shoot at the answer. Ammunition has come to an end. The tank has become silent. Orks have approached to the tank and examine it on the one hand. At this time the crew silently leaves the tank through a door on the other hand.

Interior on this model I will not do (only there where the door is opened).

I continue:

I at all didn't like a tank turret. I have decided it to replace.
Long thought - what cannon tower to make...
Has made a tower similar to a tower of Russian tank KV-1 (Second World War).
Here tank KV-1 photo:

My turret:

Has a little increased massiveness of a fodder part of the tank. Has altered lattices of access of air and the hatch over the motor (as at KV-1):

I will continue.

Dmitry.

Looks good. Your weld seams are superb and make the tank look as though it was created in a hurry (with little concern for quality control) like the majority of T34s built during the war. It really gives a mass-produced look to the tank. The extra rivets really add to it also.
Looking forward to seeing the finished project. Your detailing skills are formidable.

I have to say your detailing is extremely good, as is your general level of conversion/modeling.

Loving the look so far and can't wait to see it finished.

Nowlan, SilverMK2 , Thanks for your response. I try, that the model wasn't similar to others. It was individual.

Has shown traces from hits in the tank of different shells, rockets and bullets of the weapon of orks:

The first stage (only large calibre):

The second stage (has added small calibre):

Wanted to hear your responses about my work.

While it is all.

I will continue.

I am really loving this! Your attention to detail is amazing and in all honestly, it looks 100X better then the stock GW. You've inspired me to give a go at something like this for my old beaten up Leman Russ' I have

Mr.Malevolent , thanks for an estimation of my work.

I long time was engaged in models-copies in scale 1:35. Waryammer has learned recently. It is pleasant to me that it is possible to dream.
Leman Russ - fine model for conversion. In a head it is a lot of thoughts on this theme. The following tank I want to make with distinctive details of well-known Russian tank T-34. Also it is possible to make and Russ-Sherman, Russ-Cromwell or Russ-T-IV (I very much like Second World War tanks). It is possible to make a self-propelled gun of a Russ-SU-100 and much another... And it is possible to do each model not similar to others.

I am glad, if it has interested you. I will be glad to help.

Dmitry.

This is really nice. Im loving the attention to detail you have and all the extra details you have added, the armour plating, weapon damage and turret make your russ into a really individual model. I would love to see another one in an undamaged state.

The outward scratch marks around the impact sites from incomming rounds really make them look believable, like the round actually did detonate once the tip of the shell penetrated the armor slightly.
What is your method for doing this? Are you carving the holes out by twisting a knife blade? Drilling in slightly with a standard drill bit? I'm curious to know.

And don't worry about your English, its easy to figure out what you are trying to say.

Fantastic work Dmitry! I can't wait to see this with some paint!

Are you going to include some Orks in your diorama? Or is just going to be the aftermath?

Wow. You have done very well so far! The rivets and battle damage you added really add to the realism. Great use of reference to make this model better than a stock version. I am looking forward to the progress of this model.

You apparently have done other modeling and know your armored vehicles. If you have pictures of some of your work you should put them up on this site. I am sure many of us can learn from your techniques or just to enjoy the work you have done.

Hello.

I thank for the shown interest to my work. Моделисту it is necessary, that its work has been estimated by other people. It gives the chance to see lacks of model and to rejoice to an estimation of other people.

I will try to answer questions (once again I ask to excuse me for my English language. If something is not clear - ask questions once again):

Nowlan , From shells and rockets of large calibre I do traces so:
1. By a drill of the necessary size I do deepening in armored sheet.
2. I take Tamiya Epoxy Putty. It consists of two parts - yellow and white. At mixing the material which independently hardens turns out. I take a small slice of a mix, I do of it a small sphere. I place a sphere on a deepening bottom.
3. I take a stick of the necessary diameter with the round end. I press a stick in Putty. Putty remains on walls of deepening and at edges.

Traces from bullets and shells of small calibre:
1. By a drill of the necessary diameter I do deepenings in armored sheet.
2. By the end of a knife or a needle I do scratches in deepening - from the center to edges.

Cottonjaw , I want on the one hand the damaged tank to put two orks, and on the other hand receding crew.

J-Roc77 , I was engaged some years in manufacturing of models of tanks. Did so that models were similar to the present tanks.
One year ago I have ceased to do models - interest to this work was gone. The models has distributed to friends. Unfortunately, I don't have photos of models. Earlier never placed the work on the Internet.
About two months ago me has interested Warhammer. I don't play. I have decided to try to do models of technics and diorams. It is the first experience in the given direction modelling. It is very interesting to do models of Warhammer - most to design fantastic tanks.
I served in army, saw a lot of military technology. It helps with modeling. When I have a question on the present tanks, I search for the additional information on the Internet. For example, here a photo of damages of tanks:

If someone has questions on modeling, I will be glad to answer and help.

Dmitry.

Hello.

I continue to finish Leman Russ.

Has decided to make new fenders.
For this purpose it is necessary to move a little the tank case upwards.
I have sawn model:

To make fastenings fenders, it was necessary a little augment width of the case. For this purpose on edges has pasted plastic whetstones:

Has pasted the expanded case to the chassis. Now it has risen over the chassis on 4 mm:

Of plastic has made new fenders. Has fixed them on the case:

I will continue.

Looks like you're using etched brass for the tool boxes, you continue to impress.
Every time I look at the pictures of this tank I see something else I like about it. Can't wait to see this thing completed. If your painting skills are half as good as your detailing skills, it will be amazing.

Brilliant level of detail. I'm really impressed with the level of kitbashing on the innards of the tanks.
