Feasting on the souls of unworthy opponents

Hey folks!

In an effort to self-moderate and avoid drama I'm shifting my content to the blog I share with Hulksmash. My sixth round battle report can be found here: Linky Linky

While you're welcome to discuss the battle report here, I'd prefer not to be involved in discussions here - so if you have questions or comments for me, please leave them on the battle report. Thanks!

My other Battle Reports for this event can be found here:

Nice series. Bumped into 2 chaos players? I might have to get down there next time so I can face something other than blood angels for a change.

Think it's bs that Hulk tore up that tournament and didn't get best general or overall, but what can you do.

And how the heck did YOU manage to get max sportsmanship that totally made my day!

Actually, the Alamo GT was an outlier in my tournament running. I typically do quite well for sportsmanship. People even tell me that they enjoy their games against me.

I find it somewhat odd that everyone thinks that dividing there force against you seems to be a good idea. The only opponent that had any idea how to play against DE was GK (even though he should have payed closer attention to the rules).
If the units in both the SW and CSM armies had just stuck together and supported each other instead of thinking they were an army onto themselves I think they would have fared much better.

Ouch... pretty anticlimatic ending, but your foe really didn't have the army to deal with all the mechspam!

That was a nice series of battle reports. I really value the reports against other optimized lists, such as this chaos army and especially that traditional tournament SW army. I'm also quite convinced about codex creep, due to the fact that the only army to take down your Dark Eldar is Grey Knights.

Kudos to bringing the two sets of venoms and paying particular attention to sportsmanship, which were the two points of concern from the Alamo. That's a real standup thing to do, and it certainly worked in your favor in the final scoring.

In many of your battle reports you mention being annoyed at how slow your opponent is, and time was quite a point of contention in one of these games, as well. I would be interested in reading, if you were willing to write it, a good tournament tactica in regards to time management. Much like your objective placement tactica, it could focus on the do's and don'ts of how long certain aspects of the game should take in a timed tournament setting. With some feedback from others, it could become a good unofficial doctrine for many to adopt.

That's a good idea - I'll have to start thinking about it. Thanks!

I think since you and Hulk like beating people with "weaker" codexs, you guys should do a gentlemans challenge for your next battle reports.

He borrows your orks, you borrow his tyranids, and see which one of you can do better in a tournament with an army you never use!

Not fair to Dash. I play pretty much all armies. The only list he has I haven't played with is his Necrons. And that'd be boring as hell for me

But I accept that it could be fun at some point in a tourney we don't have to travel to far to

I don't think dash's darklight list faced any strong if mechvet lists yet.

Congrats on the wins. I was wanting to come to the Nova and get a chance to play you but school is getting in the way. It was good you got to go first against the SW player. Im interested to see how that woulda turned out if you woulda went second. I know you woulda reserved everything with him having long fang units but im curious how your DE would done coming in piecemeal. Any thoughts?

It has - I don't batrep everything - or even most things.

Games against Mech IG are always close, but I usually manage to prevail.

I presume you mean the game win; I missed Overall by 3 points. Thanks though!

I am going to guess that the difference ends up being speed.

Wow, that 6th round opponent seemed like a real baby. A shame about that last minute thing.

Or maybe "time" and publish in the BATREPs opponents "turn" and "rule disputes" times. That way we can see total DoP time on "dice and models". Kinda like figuring out how much a football actually moves during a football game.

I think a lot of us would appreciate a batrep vs. Mech IG if you find the time, nomatter how boring it is to play them.

Tier 1 is the new Tactical.
