I've been a lurker here for a while but here are the beginnings of my chaos warband. I did a warband because I want to do alpha legion but I want to try out my painting on all the different legions. Im a slow painter as well lol, so pics may be slow being updated
Oh and sorry if pic quality isnt too great these come from my phone
Here is Typhus, I love the model and he's a lot of fun to use in games
Automatically Appended Next Post: and here is the squad I run Typhus with, I know they could have a better loadout but I'm keeping to the sacred numbers as back then it used to mean something lol...

Umm not sure exactly , apparently now we are counted as equals with the renegades...that will change eventually though, hopefully they bring the sacred numbers back because...
Here are my 8 berzerkers!
Im currently working on an LED lighted rhino for these guys
The alpha legion shoulder pads are there because thats the main force of my army, just during the black crusade we "convinced" others to fight with us Automatically Appended Next Post: And thanks for the compliments! Dakka has always been friendly (from what ive seen of course lol) It motivates me to finish the rest of the army! Of which there is no ryhme or rythm just finishing models as i see fit, my army list changes so much by the time Im finished painting them all the new codex will be out...

Never liked Nurgle, but Typhus is one of the few champions that doesn't look disgusting. I like your plague marines as well, they dont have all the pustules and organs all over them. Its a plague look, not a slasher movie look. Good job! Keep it up!

I like your guys shadowblade very clean, classic Heavy Metal style. In regards to Tlo1048's comment though, i got to say, different strokes for different folks right? While I like and appreciate both styles of mini painting im that guy sucking his teeth and shaking his head in the movies when the blood is too dark or leaking out like they have no blood pressure. But im also a huge Nurgle fan and Zombies in general for that matter. Anyway, keep up the good work!

I am now accepting commissions for any hobby project! I've been in the hobby since '92. Specializing in traditional brush methods, creating a gritty dark aesthetic. From single character models to entire armies. From individual terrain pieces to entire table tops. From tabletop level to masterclass level painting. From purchasing and assembly to leveling up your assembled armies paint job. If it has to do with the hobby I can do it! Hit me up and let's chat about your project! |

Well the green on the armor was actually done pretty easily and quick compared to my normal painting lol,
1.A base coat of camo green. A complete solid basecoat, not even worrying about cracks or dips in the armor or anything, the washes will fill those in.
2. Heavy drybrush of rotting flesh over all the armor, the model looks pretty bright right now but fear not
3. Wash with Devlan Mud
4. Wait for the first wash to completely dry before washing the whole model again with Badab Black
5. Once the black wash is dry drybrush the armor again with rotting flesh, this is a lighter drybrush than earlier again over all the armor but mainly hitting raised areas more heavily than others, or areas where a lot of light would hit, eg. top of shoulder pads, edges of the helmet.
And thats it! for the green parts of the armor anyways
Here is the first actual alpha legion model for my alpha legion
The pictures dont quite do it justice tho
I was going to paint some infantry first for them but after the last two squads and character I wanted to paint something else, I alternate what I paint

Looks fantastic. How do you paint your nurgle? That's the exact kind of look I myself am going for, but I'm lost on how to make them look 'grey' like yours (as opposed to brownish green)

Wow I guess the plague marines turned out better than I thought! After these compliments I may have to do a whole Death Guard army! I always liked the pre-heresy ones, and the fluff behind them in general, we'll see what the new legions codex brings
@ Samus_aran115
I posted just above my defiler the steps on the green parts of the armor, and the paints you would need are:
Camo Green (yes that bright ugly green not good for anything else lol)
Rotting Flesh (I had to use the vallejo one as my local store was out of the GW one)
Devlan Mud wash
Badab Black wash
Thats it!
The greys for the flesh was codex grey, washed with leviathan purple, then highlighted back up to fortress grey, leaving some of the purplish grey showing in the recesses. I wanted them to look sickly pale and pretty much dead, which is why I didnt paint the eye lenses either on the regular marines, leaving it black makes them look that much more "detached" from reality, dead really. This all sounds great in my head when I painted them hope it makes sense

Thanks again for the support!
Ive been meaning to actually get some more alpha legion equipment painted up so now ill try my hand at a squad of chaos marines, maybe paint my chosen as members of the Effrit stealth company, maybe complete this demon prince.
I would get a land raider finished with the working hatches and LED headlights and troop compartment, but I cant make it seem to fit in-game Dont want to spend that much time on a model that doesnt get game time...
Anways thats two gods down, two to go lol (i hate painting red now...)
