@ Nard:

I'm sure I've said this before, but your 'toon-shaded Tyranids are my favourite gallery. If I had enough money to make you a non-insulting offer, I would attempt to buy your painted army.

No doubt that Nard is a talented painter, that exceeds my skills by miles, I just don't dig the shell-shaded Nids. Too many bright colours :S

I've since put most of my force in the stripping tub, as I forgot how I painted them originally 6 months ago, and the slightly different outcome irks me, even if it is not that noticeable. I have a bit more free time on my hands now, so hopefully I get some painted in the new scheme

Nards Nids are what inspired me to start a new nid army.

If my post show some BAD spelling issues, please forgive-me, english is not my natural language, and i never received formal education on it...

The way you highlight the carapace is incredible. Also, do the doors on the Mycetic spore work on a hinge?

I wanted to hinge the doors, but I only had about a week to assemble and paint the thing before a tournament. So I ended up just sticking the doors on using the magnets it comes with.

I never really liked Behemoths red and blue but yours are really lovely.
The shine on the Guards carapace and highlighting on the Trygons scales are wicked.

Great spore too, pity its 31 quid.

I've actually added a dozen hormagaunts since these pictures were taken and it makes the army look a bit nicer and more balanced.

Interesting scheme, was looking at doing something similar myself but with red as the carapace.

What colors did you use for the fleshy bits?
How did you highlight the black claws?

Ratius / Limbo, the full recipe for my Tyranids can be found here:
http://www.dakkadakka.com/wiki/en/User:legoburner#Tyranids

The skin is very simply:
1. Dheneb Stone
2. Scab Red wash (mixed with water and washing up liquid 50 water:10 paint:1 washing up liquid)
3. Bleached Bone drybrush

Very quick scheme (in case I want to add more horde units later on). Painting it roughly looks fairly effective too.

I am afraid to admit I only have a fex, a trygon, brood of gaunts and a zoanthrope painted. they are not even that good, but since they were my first army, it`s almost okay.

may I ruin your eyes once I find my camera?

For those whovians out there, I something planned.

Something big.
