Thanks for the kind words folks

Kraut, I'm the same I've never been overly fond if the tank models either but I saw this and mainly bought it for bits for my Gorehound but the more I looked into the history of the Decimator Super Heavy I kinda liked the idea of building a giant skull crusher.

As for the Oblit, here's how it stands at the moment, The second power fist arrived so I can rework the Centurion one. I now need to detail it more but the only way I can really think of doing that without going nuts with gs and spikes would be FW brass etch and I'm a bit too cheap to spend a on that just now. I have an idea for the leg armour ill try out when I get home from work.

Way to detail without going forgeworld nuts? jewellery chains! Or the other poor man's version, carefully scraping khorne icons with a very sharp hobby knife and then re-applying. Honestly I don't think it needs it though. We are always tempted to add more detail than needed when converting/scratchbuilding because we want it to look interesting, but a good paintjob likes to have some smooth surfaces to work on.

And I see you got a tank there! The cool thing about modelling tanks is that there is such a rich background to military modelling, you can pick up advanced techniques from outside the 40k modelling world, there is a lot of material out there to read.

Thanks guys.
I do the symbol slicing quite a lot Meade and was planning ti add a couple of little bits here and there. None of my army really has the OTT 'I'm chaos lets stick spikes on everything look' so you're right, I think the paint will do a lot for this model. I've ordered bits for the second Oblit so he'll have a buddy soon

That is coming right along. Note about chains, having done a lot of them- Meade nailed it when he said go w/ jewelry, but be prepared to manage the madness of the tiny bits that do not take paint the first (or 54th) time and that tiny little bit of metal shines through like a star about to go supernova.

There are military model chains that come pre-rusted / painted and work really well, plus the scale is a lot easier to match.

Nice work Biohazard.

I am not a fan of the Centurion models. They look really stiff, no action to em at all. However the repurposing that you are doing is great. Much more action to the pose. As for the tank model. I loved the kit. When/if you put it together its pretty easy to make it so that it will build all the different versions so your not stuck with just ONE tank model but a handful at your disposal.

Thanks for the heads ups re the tank folks ill be sure to look into the multi purpose approach.

Now, a small update on my second Obliterator conversion. He has the Sgts head at the moment but I'm thinking ill swap it out with one of the standard heads. He will have a shoulder mounted assault cannon as soon as I can acquire a terminator bit and probably a couple of chest mounted plasm weapons. Let me know what you think folks.

Thanks guys,

Sennacherib, the winged skull will be removed and there's only two, I messed about an changed a couple of bits between taking the pics of the guy on the right. He's still very much WIP

LDP, yeah they're gonna be counts as Obliterators, I really don't like the mutated look of the official model and after reading Krautscientists fluff on his 'Behemoth' unit I had to build some.

Wow, nice job with the centurians. The only ones that I had seen thus far that I liked were those who left most of the armor plates off. These look good with the excessive armor(probably a khorne thing)
good work

Shoulder mounted lascannons look cool... detailing looks nice... love that chaos lord chainfist it's one of my favorite bits. just the right size for oblits.

Can't help but wonder.... what would happen if you removed that thing surrounding the helmet.... it's kind of irking me that it looks like a life preserver. Plus you might see the cool helmets more, something to think about. Maybe there could be some chaos stuff framing the head instead.

Funnily enough I did give that a try but didn't really like the look, the heads are just in with poster tack at the moment, I might add a little gs to lengthen the neck a bit. I quite like the bulky look of the bit round the head though, it brings to mind a giant harness to spread the weight of the shoulder weapons.

I've added a couple of bits to the first guy to give him a little more detail. Won't be any pics till I get home from work.

I like what you've done with the Centurions. The stock model looks like a Lego Minifig (legs defined that idea for me). Yours do not and actually make the model look cool.

These look great.

The one detail I don't like is the chainaxe teeth claw on the right fist of the centurion. It doesn't look like it would function as a moving chain blade.

The use of the the chainfist looks awesome. I think a few of the ork nob/kan weapons would look good on the end of those fists.

Still looking awesome, buddy! Since the rather sleek silhouette is a recurring motif for several of your units (the trophy-less Terminators and Dreads come to mind), I certainly wouldn't add any stuff that changes the outward silhouette of the models (trophy racks or stuff like that). That said, they could use some additional bitz to make them look slightly more archaic. Some suggestions:

- The Centurion paudrons look slightly too pristine as is (I also don't think that long fanged skull on the one guy's right shoulder pad is such a good fit). Personally speaking, I'd use the small tiltplates from the Skullcrushers on the area where the pauldrons meet the model's chest, if you can get your hands on any of them. Regular tilt plates from the loyal Terminator kits with some chaotic incons on top could also work.

- why not have some chains hanging from the pauldrons?

- while I love that big skull relief, I would get rid of the Dark Eldar spikes to the sides -- they don't work for me.

- as somebody rightfully pointed out on my own thread: that stock Centurion armour plate in the crotch area needs some decoration

- for my own Behemoths, I was thinking of maybe adding a shaved down Bloodletter head or two to the leg cuisse. That migth work as well...

- oh, and those Ogre gut plates work well even if added on top of those shoulder pads!

If you need some Ogre fists to shave down for additional armour, let me know

Hope this helps! Keep up the great work!

Thanks guys, I'm kinda thinking the same re the first guys chain fist. I do have an idea for a set of lightning claws. I know Oblits don't have them but I'm just looking to make them look a little cooler.

Oh, since you're pointing it out, I have to disagree: I love those shaved down chainaxe blades on the first guy! I just think that idea might need a little cleanup work! And instead of two rows per fist, you should have one sitting in the middle of the gauntlet, flush against its surface. That way, it would look as if the (completely mechanical) fist actually functions as the chainweapon's housing!

Sorry Kraut you replied at the same time as me there lol. The fanged skull was just to see how it would look as is the bigger skull with the DE bits. I have a couple of the Skull Crusher tilt plates I think. I finish my nightshifts on Friday and intend to spend the day working on these to finish them so any suggestions will be taken on board then.

OTOH, the chain fist cut off bit i assumed it might also be ornamental spikery, you know not a functioning chainblade. I sometimes cut off the jagged bits from the chainsword/axe and use that for extra detail.

And I hear ya on the life preserver bit, it makes a harness and these guys look great as they are (I would even just leave the shoulder pads plain and maybe put a transfer if possible) but it's just a suggestion... there are many cool possibilities if you look in the art of different ways to frame the helmet/head, which is going to be the focal point of the model. Also you could then fit some tusks on that head like the FW lord zhufor model (which as an aside, IMO is the coolest Khornate helmet ever).

Thanks guys, I quite like the idea of some chains hanging from the pauldrons Ill definitely look into that and the more I look at these the more I actually prefer the plain armour plates. At the moment everything I've tried has just looked stuck on. Like I say this week of nightshifts is killing me but I finish on Friday mornin so I will spend most of the day working on hobby stuff these guys in particular. I had thought of shaving the chain axe bits down a little more and using them as a kind of Mohawk on the helmet. I've done this before years ago with an old Zerker helmet and the effect was quite pleasing.

So a couple of bits arrived from Paladin today (cheers buddy) so I knocked together my assault cannon in all of 30secs. It still needs some kind of ammo feed but I like the squat look of it.

Also there's a pic of Oblit 2 in profile for Nighthunters.

Those curved wrist chain bits look really nice. I think if you added a couple more so there were two on each hand, one over the pointer finger and the other over the pinky, it would look a lot better and more balanced.

Anyway, I love what you're doing with this Centurion kit. Like many others I thought it would be hopeless.
