Facebook should know better than to remind hobbyists if the pain of building and painting droppods.
I'm assuming by the use of inverted commas much of what's in the pic is at the same stage of completion?

January 26, 2016-
In an attempt to stay out of my head, I'm going to try to get back to doing more hobby work again.
Coming Soon:
Astra Militarum - I'm moving away from power armor and trying my hand at the brave Imperial Guard forces... specifically Cadians.
Xenos - now and then... to break up the monotony of working on just one army I'll throw in a little model or two from some of the following xenos factions: Orks and Tyranids.
Paradigm Challenge thread projects - aside from the above you'll see here progress for my entries in Paradigm's monthly challenge threads.
Pics of some things to come:
Going to tear into this box and bunch of bits to see about coming up with a potential entry for Dakka (Unofficial) Painting Challenge Round 12: February 2016 Subject Poll.
Another kit to use for a potential entry for Paradigm's challenge thread mentioned above.

Tools for some hobby work this afternoon. A couple cutters (1 citadel and 1 I got at hobbytown), mold line remover (citadel again... it is actually useful... expensive but useful), hobby knife with some extra blades (non-citadel; I forget what brand), and some glue (1 loctite professional liquid and 1 gale force nine hobby glue).
Stuff to be worked on this afternoon
Various bases from some Astra Militarum kits and a gretching/runtherd kit - we have some 25mm, 40mm, and a couple 60mm
Sheets of cork to be used on the bases; purchased from Target
Start with a blank base; remove any debris on top; you can even wash it if you'd like.
A chunk torn out from the cork sheet that is about the size of the base.
I applied super glue to the base; you can use whatever adhesive you feel comfortable with. I like going for super glue... I used to use just pvc or white glue.
the finished base; after this I'll maybe apply some pins or just build the model on it. After the whole model is built I'll then prime. You can do it any way you'd like this is just how I'd go about it.
Here is another base I did. Instead of using one big chunk I broke it up to give it a different, maybe more organic, look. Still the same stuff: Base, cork, super glue.
Another example of using multiple chunks for a base.
Work done so far this afternoon

Put together some test models and started a bit of painting.
Put together some push-fit cadians to use as test subjects for color schemes I might want for my Astra Militarum
Here they are primed also primed a couple bases and the commissar
Next day did a bit of painting; started with flesh on the cadians
I got one done in a scheme. Predominantly green with brown for boots, packs, and armor.
I'll do another one in similar colors but maybe do something to give the brown and green a bit more contrast.
The ones I used on this model are toooooo close in shade. The pictures make it look like one color when actually I used 2.
Also did the skin on my Runtherd and gretchin
The Commissar got a bit of flesh paint as well. I did less shade on his face though than the cadians

Love your plog DJ! That cork base came out great from a few posts ago. I really like how energetic this blog is.
Also much love for the Chimera. They are up there with Rhinos for me. Lastly, were you happy with your DCM santa? I found another grav gun if you still need a second one for your marines.

I am most happy with it! No need for grab at the moment.
Big plan is to get a 2000pt army built for the regiment. Then I'll do a small group of loyalists marines as allies. Then after that come back to Nurgle to fight the imperial forces.
I totally love the chimera and rhino as well always fun to build those!
I have like 2 or 5 more chimeras to get depending how I go with this army. Automatically Appended Next Post: evildrcheese wrote:Cadians are looking great. There's something incredibly satisfying about batch basing.

Thanks! Tomorrow after I finish up the des play piece I'll go into factory mode to work on the Astra Militarum infantry.

Thanks! He is probably the 2nd ork I've ever painted.
I was excited to do the aquifer and made sure to try to get him right.
I ended up using Mephiston Red for base then a heavy wash of Agrax Earthshade. I then put another layer of red leaving recesses and some details alone. Did a couple light layers of that then did another wash of the Angrax Earthshade but a little lighter. After that I went over the model with a brush kind of soaking up excess.

Sweet. The finished display piece is looking great. Very characterful.
The Chimeria, Bullgryns and commissar look great, especially the stubble on the Commissar and the weathering on the Chimeria.

Off and on... Sometimes it'll be as simple as in this recent pic... Sometimes it'll be super micro managed with details like time allotted for certain things like color to use or time it will take for certain sections.
