Yeah, the premise is pretty interesting.

I'm not sold on Overlord yet, I'm fine with the 'stuck in an mmo' concept, but the character design is off putting..

I didn't really like it either, but I do see where they are getting the design from.

Oh ya gakkou gurashi looks pretty fantastic. It's kinda like some of you said, if you pay attention while watching it it's pretty obvious something is up, but the show may end up being decent. I'm definitely gonna stick with it for the time being

Anyone else watching Shimoneta? I can't tell if I'm going to enjoy the hell out of it, or if I'm going to get annoyed with the censoring (note: it's purposefully censoring motions, images, and words)... But dirty humor ain't always bad.

It's making fun of feminists and any other censorship lovers in my mind. Speaking of which i'd like to do a parody of the first episode based around that.

I am wondering where they are going with this.

Because the JSDF has an overwhelming advantage, and has wiped out hundreds of thousands of soldiers from the Fantasy World's armies (as part of a plan by the still somewhat naive Emperor to eliminate his rivals).

I hope they don't take away that advantage, because it is something that would be typical of the trope of "Magic triumphs over technology" that is so common in anime.

They need to leave the military supremacy alone, and develop some other plot device to exploit.

The Summer Anime are definitely better than the Spring, at this point, though.

I want World Trigger to get on with it, though (They are having a skip-week today). It still has 15 more episodes to go.

It would make an EXCELLENT long-running anime, given how big their universe potentially is.

But I have noticed something about long-running anime:

Their animation is usually simplistic, and they tend to be very immature (One Piece, Pokemon, Fairy Tale, and most of Naruto). Even Dragonball falls into this category (as not too advanced cell animation).

I want to see something like Sword Art Online, or GITS get a 100 - 500 episode series.

At this point I kind of thought World Trigger WAS going to be a longer running anime. Did not know there was an end in sight.

Since the manga writer is apparently a right-wing nationalist with anti-western leanings, this outcome seems unlikely.

Spoiler:
It's also why in the manga the US President is a jerk.

I am NOT surprised.

There is a current Reactionary Trend in Japan toward the sort of attitude that is prevalent in the USA (trying to pretend that past history "wasn't really so bad"), where they look back fondly upon the Imperialist Japan of the early 20th Century (the one which had plans to take over the Eastern-Asian Pacific Rim).

So, in MANY Manga/Anime you see this attitude played out. They tend to be very resentful of being unable to field a "proper" military. So, Gate seems to be a wish-fulfillment fantasy in this regard (Japan getting to go play war while both not really being in any serious danger, nor "technically" leaving Japan).

You can even see this in GITS, where the American Empire is portrayed as Evil-Morons, compared to the more Nihon-Centric USA (which is really just "Eastern Japan").

I would say it is making fun of the Pathological Social Justice Warriors, and not Feminists. Donna Haraway is a Feminist, and the Social Justice Warriors ran her out of the USA because she supports body-modification and Cybernetics (with the SJWs see as an offshoot of Nazism).

I am VERY hooked into the academic crowd associated with Haraway, and with the Transhumanist Community, and there is a HUGE difference between "Feminism" and the radical Identity Politics of the Social Justice Movement's more fanatical members.

What is sad is that the Social Justice Movement, as it exists in the form of the transition from the Civil Rights movement of the 1960s, is very sane, and the issues they address are very real.

But some of the Second Wave Feminists of the 1970s, who could NOT Let go of Post-Modernism (denying that facts exist), ruined things for almost everyone by taking things to extremes that perverted the original intent.

They are just as Authoritarian as any Conservative Evangelical, and just as opposed to the ideals of The Enlightenment (which they blame for every evil of the 20th century).

SOX is probably the only terrorist group I'd ever join and that I want to see winning. That world is far too scary, I can't believe how much that pervert is a hero, I mean, No porn?! Anywhere?! MADNESS! And yes, the opening music even has that Kamen Rider vibe!

Not only that, in the opening the bastards are blowing up my beloved Akihabara and all the lewd figurines and the pool always used in japanese porns! PMs must pay for this!

I have a sneaky suspicion Anna is gonna be a gigantic Closet Pervert. At least I hope so!

I know BeAfraid won't agree with me on this, but I felt there were more shows worth watching in the spring, but the few shows I have picked up for the summer are fantastic. There's a few on the edge that I'll probably cut so I can focus on backlog anime (just started Turn A Gundam tonight after finishing 08th MS Team (Best UC series imo).

I just hope that Shimoneta doesn't get stale, I can only take so many penis jokes before it gets old.

I'm actually pretty excited for this season. God Eater, finally, is out. Adaptations of Gate* and Overlord. Six Braves and Chaos Dragon both seem intriguing. Gangsta has really caught my attention. Black Lagoon meets Dogs: Bullets and Carnage. I will also admit that Bikini Warriors is now a guilty pleasure XD It's just so absurd.

*Fortunately, outside of the US president being a jerk, the series thus far hasn't been too hyper-nationalist, though the authors apparent leanings do explain why he seemed to so eagerly enjoy writing the Diet as idiots and the US President as a complete ass wipe

TBH, most anime I have watched hasn't put the US government in a good light. Although Americans themselves tend to get off lighter, we tend to be over the top enthusiastic, but usually well meaning. It's pretty accurate when compared to the Japanese people as a whole.

That I also don't agree but that's the beauty of the many seasons and anime, there will always be something for everyone While in the last season I only kept with Knights of Sidonia and Blood Brigade.

This season, so far:
- Non Non Biyori (OH FRAK YES!!)
- Gate
- Overlord
- Shimoneta
- Bikini Warriors
- Gakkou Gurashi!
- Monster Musume no Iru Nichijou
- (maybe) Prison School. Watched the first episode. Hilarious too
And Rokka no Yuusha loots interesting as hell too!

Edit: Oh Shimoneta, you are a treasure trove of lewd gifs!

See, I'm really only sold on the following shows atm:
Non Non Biyori Repeat
GATE
Rokka No Yuusha
Gangsta.
Durarara!!x2 Ten

I'm on the fence on the following:
Dragon Ball Super
Shimoneta (the jokes/story needs to stay fresh)
Charlotte (I want the MC to keep being good he was in the first 10 minutes of last week's episode)

I've already dropped the following:
Wagnaria!!! (Couldn't get through two episodes of Wagnaria!!)
Bikini Warriors

I've yet to watch the following:
Gakkou Gurashi
Monster Musume (don't think I'll watch this though)
Prison School

And then there's several shows I didn't even check out because it doesn't interest me.

On the other hand, I thought the following shows were really solid shows from spring:
Punchline
Food Wars
Ore Monogatari
Plastic Memories
Hibike! Euphonium
Kekkai Sensen
I can't understand what my husband is saying
DanMachi (when it wasn't in full harem mode)
Oregairu 2

There were other shows that I enjoyed, but those were the ones that started in the Spring...

Oh well, different strokes, right?

That's it. She is my new waifu. I'm going to pretend this is the middle east for a second and i can have more than one waifu.

Btw i like to imagine every harem anime that ends with a harem ending ends with the main character and all the girls moving to the middle east and making it legal ;P. I totally need to do a sketch on that. Everybody's happy now! Oh and remember you now have next to no rights now but you lived in japan before so you're sorta used to that.

Tuesdays are being quite interesting. Together with Bikini Warriors this is the ecchi day.

I mean, one thing is to read that hilarious BJ scene; Another is to see it animated... They even added "veins" to the popsicle.... Well played animators, well played. it's as if you knew what your target audience was.

So, after two episodes of Monster Girls, and being a fan of the manga who's waiting for his centaur daki, I must say I'm quite pleased!

Aoharu x Machinegun with more survival games and hilarious reverse trap action is fun so far, and I'm enjoying Rokka as well. So far the one I'm surprised by is Classroom Crisis, which I was expecting to be completely different.

Danchigai is a shortie that I really wish was longer... I find the antics quite amusing, especially the tsundere brocon.

Love overlord so far.
A pity that it will most likely end up like Danmachi and every other light novel derived anime and just end abruptly.

I think I will call that condition Light Novel Syndrome.
It pisses me off.

Tuesday actually. Yesterday I was already in complete fanboy mode here mentioning the episode. (sorry about that )

Hum, if I try "God-Eater", "Rokka no Yusha" and "Gangsta" and I actually like what I see, I'm looking at 11-12 animes this season ... this is kinda ridiculous, I've never had such a huge season before.

So, do you expect Momogama to encounter any other "Trapped" players?

And, how would he identify them if he did?

The ending of this episode seemed to show that the world has occupants with their own agendas.

I think it was about four years ago that I had a total of 17 anime I was watching. Some of them were from the previous season (I had just bought my Funimation Subscription), but I was catching at least one new anime a day, and two on most days, with four on Saturdays.

I miss seasons like that.

And, I have got a TON of anime that I just never finished that I need to go back to watch the rest of, such as the "Fate/" series (I watched about four episodes of each, and then got bored.

It seems the ones I REALLY like, they end abruptly with no continuation (Like "Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere" - hmmmm..... There seems to be something TO this "Light Novel Syndrome" after all!!!).

Kamisama Gods was the first one I watched where this happened, and it made me really pissed off, because another season would have been all it took to finish the Manga as an Anime (But it hadn't been written yet - so make freaking filler episodes like they did with Bleach or Naruto. FUUUUCK!).

So, that Gakkou Gurashi!

Spoiler:
Anyone else thinks the teacher is already dead? I already had my suspicions since the first ep, but when she showed up outta nowhere on the other side of the fence... yeah...

This is such an interesting zombie survival situation... on one hand, you have a girl that's a complete danger to herself and the others because of her own little world, but on the other, she's probably the only reason they are all still sane.

We've only gotten Part 1 (Phantom Blood), Part 2 (Battle Tendencies), and Part 3 (Stardust Crusaders), which was 2 seasons long. We're probably going to be waiting a long time for Part 4 (Diamond is Unbreakable) because of how many references are in it. It's not been a major issue with the other parts, but I guess the author and by extension David productions (studio making Jojo) don't have the rights to some of the references outside of Japan. So it's in a bit of a holding pattern.

I think Gate is my favorite so far, just because it's nice to see a competent modern military for once fighting the magical beasts. Also liking Six Braves or whatever that one is called, although it's kind of annoying that the basic overview description spoils a plot twist they've not even gotten to in the show after three episodes yet, so I know that's still coming. Gansta is definitely on the watch list though. There's a lot of stuff I like so far this season.

When Airsoft guns were new, I almost had an accident when someone almost confused by REAL H&K MP3 SD5 with the Airsoft one I had been given.

Fortunately, they were trying to load an airsoft magazine into the real gun, and wondering why it would not load.

Ooooh, see I liked Ouran High School Host Club. But that comparison aside I'm hoping that there are more "survival games" coming down the pipeline since the story seems to focus on the team wanting to be the best in Japan. I picked up Volume 1 of the Manga a few weeks before the anime aired to see if it was worth picking up, and I got really bummed in episode 1 when they're talking to the cops and Worwick is 'translating' for Nic. I thought that is how they were going to handle Nic's sign language, but episode 2 and 3 proved me wrong and made me happy that they're including it and just subtitling it.

And I was right about Anna (Shimoneta) it seems, I just freaking knew it.

Just started it with a buddy.

I went into it expecting something a little more like the Alfheim sections of SAO- one guy bumbling through a dungeon crawl, sequentially finding girls chained up, rescuing them, and having them join his party. Goofy antics, secondary focus on the fighting, and a lot more self-referential humour about it being a Harem-style anime, with the dude just living it up with all the girls fawning over him. (also, I expected the girls to all be goddesses).

Instead, it's actually got Story! and Plot! and pretty decent action that actually shows fighting! And a main character who's shaping up into a pretty decent Nightblade, who's 'special abilities' aren't actually reason for people to shower him with praise!

In short, I like it.

DanMachi's biggest flaw was the wait between episodes. The final two episodes in that Forest were like pulling teeth waiting for that awesome final fight. Unfortunately we're probably going to be waiting awhile for the second season though, we've run through practically all of the Light Novel Volumes.

Since when was having a harem Bell's goal? I quite like how it was handled though- they like him, but not all of them are constantly in his day-to-day life. As in actually living with him.

Just googled and saw it was mentioned in the novels(which I haven't read), but did it ever come up in the anime?

Sorry, I thought it was mentioned in the anime (I've been pouring through episode 1 again). The closest thing we have is when we hear his grandfather's voice over saying "Bell, an adventurer needs to meet his girls in a dungeon."

BUT here's the opening from the Light Novel that I posted when the anime started.
 Alfndrate wrote:

Spoiler:
Is is wrong to try to pick up girls in a dungeon? You know, an endless labyrinth divided into multiple floors and filled with scary monsters?

Expectation: Join a group of fearless adventurers seeking wealth and fame. Go off to battle as soon as guild registration is complete. Meet a beautiful girl and protect her from an onslaught of monsters with only a sword in my hand. The air fills with her echoing screams, the monsters' roars, and the clash of my sword as we face certain death. In the end, all that remains is her sitting on the floor beside my cool, heroic self standing over the remains of all the monsters I slew. Her cheeks blush as she looks upon me with beautiful, sparkling eyes. Love is about to bloom.

....

I want to grow up a bit, become the kind of hero men dream about in tales of adventure. I want to be more than friends with cute girls. I want to meet the ladies of all the different races. Isn't having these slightly corrupt and naive thoughts part of being a young man? Is trying to meet girls in a dungeon, no... a harem, really that wrong?

Conclusion: I was wrong. I'm about to die courtesty of these slightly corrupt and naive thoughts. Basically, I'm being chased by the bull-headed man-beast, the Minotaur. I'm going to be devoured by a monster that my measly Level one attacks can't even scratch. I'm dead. So, so dead.

And srsly if you haven't finished the anime, don't open CthuluIsSpy's spoiler. It's not a big one, but it's a nice little night cap to the series.

I also hope that it keeps going on, harem tag aside (and most of the ladies in the harem are good characters in their own right), it's a great look at a fantasy setting.

I've got a burgeoning manga collection that has a few skeletons from when I was 15, but r/manga is great for checking out new series. Um... I think most tend to go with like 6-7 chapters a volume so anywhere between 5 and 6 volumes, though only 3 are released in Japanese.

I will probably just continue to watch the anime though, because the LN's translations are rough to say the least (look at my post with the entry from the LN) and I don't need the manga.

I bet we started collecting at about the same time then. Before Adult Swim was a thing, and everything aired on Toonami(not counting DragonBall and Sailor Moon from Elementary/Middle School)? I'm guessing you have somewhere in the neighborhood of a thousand volumes?

I think I'm just odd when it comes to the culture. I've never read anything online, or streamed anything. Crunchyroll is my first foray into it.

Nah, I fell out of the anime/manga crowd about 2006. And just recently got back into it. My collection is about 50 volumes spanning like 10 different series with 11 of those being Naruto. Had I stuck with it, I'd probably own easily several hundred.

But yes, I was of the Toonami/Adult Swim crowd growing up, along with the Pokemon crowd on Saturday mornings.

Well... I want more of Hestia.

She is a safe Loli fantasy without people thinking you "weird."

BTW....

I LOVED the last episode of GATE, where the protagonist (can't recall his name), sees the girl with the Axe standing in the road with his binoculars and yells:

GOTH LOLI GIRL! (ゴスロリ少女!- Gosu Rori Shoujo).

Who then crawls up into his lap.....

I used to have a girlfriend who looked just like the girl with the Axe.... I think all my girlfriends have been the Goth-Loli types.

It's a cool anime that's really well done until near the end (and the action is pretty damn cool). Unfortunately the end is completely different from the manga. That part is almost a bump in the road, the story still continues after that so if you enjoy the anime, please read the manga from that point onwards.

You know NNB is awesome when you are completely shocked because the episode is over. So shocked you go check the time saying "no, it's impossible!". It's the only anime it always feels like it's only been 5 minutes

Meh, Hestia was probably the worst part of the series to me. I've just generally gotten annoyed by the girl who constantly obsessively throws herself all over the guy trope in anime, made all the worse by her outfit, so it was dull when she was pulling that routine. When she was chill she was fine.

God-Emperor damn it, I knew Overlord was gonna be awesome. BUT THIS?! It blew my damn expectations through the roof and kept stomping them!

I felt so much sickening joy with the Death Knight stabbing that guy over and over and over again <3 and by reading reddit's comments about the ep and the LN, it seems that guy tried to rape the girl that ran away and killed her father because he stopped him and made it possible for them to run away.
Yes, I love that scene, I even laughed with glee as he was choking on his own blood.

Hmmm, hmmmm, hmmm! Let the dark path to world domination begin! Time to destroy some kingdoms with a story that will only keep getting darker <3 damn it, best season in years (for me)

So as part of a plan to eventually watch the entire canon, I finished Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam . I'd heard it was one of the best-regarded series, and the one that really kicked it off as a franchise, and it's not hard to see why. Really great action, and it goes to some surprisingly dark and complex places, especially once the heroes are making deals with their enemies from the original series. And ouch, those last two episodes were pretty brutal.

Spoiler:
I was pretty shocked when Katz bit it. I mean, he was one of the comedy relief kids from the original series! But I think Emma was the most unexpected. Someone else had made a heroic sacrifice to save her, and she'd just won her nemesis battle, so she seemed dramatically safe, but then.....

Looking forward to moving onto ZZ, so I can see how things turn out from the state of play they were left in, and also to get an explanation of exactly what happened in the final episode.

Not true, ZZ can be good depending on your taste. I didn't like large parts of it, but it was still a decent series. Especially compared to a lot of the other series that take place outside of UC. But skipping it is fine since 08th MS Team, 0080, War in Pocket all take before Zeta and ZZ

Spoiler:
I wasn't at all shocked to see Katz die. He was a little prick the whole series that didn't follow orders that finally got what was coming to him. It was sad to see Emma go though

Gakkou Gurashi;

Really not sure what's going on anymore.

Spoiler:
Either the teacher is dead or it's the girls are all dead and she's imagining things while writting her story down. Or, ooor, maybe Yuki was the one that killed the teacher if she was bitten and that was the trigger to enter into "Lala" land.

Thankfully Gangsta was there to make it all ok.

Also, believe it or nor but "Bikini Warriors" is actually an awesome 4mn anime because it's always mocking RPG tropes:

1st ep: Female armor logic. The Bikini Armor actually worked and it's great.
2nd ep: Major quest to save the world. They give you like 10 gold.
3rd ep: "Because we are heroes, we can enter random villager's houses and loot everything!"

I'll give it a chance, mainly because I really want to see how things progress, and how the cliffhanger gets resolved. I get the feeling that I might need some help later on in keeping the continuities and timeline straight. I get that the Universal Century is the "default" one, then it gets a bit fuzzy.

Spoiler:
Katz was whiny, but I was distracted from actually hating him by Reccoa being just as whiny about how nobody understood her poor mass-murdering self, and the fact that, well, he's pretty much right in that allying with Axis-Zeon (when they're openly bragging about how they're going to go back to the good old Zabi days) is a really bad idea.

Especially now that she has discovered "It" and likes to draw "lewd pictures" (I made my first ever $100 in the 1970s in Grade School drawing pictures of nude women for classmates for $1 each - which was a freaking FORTUNE for a kid in 1973/74).

I should do a "Saotome's Sketchbook" that is an "in-show" prop or item that she has done of images of Anna. I'll bet I could make a fortune on that.... I would have to re-learn how to draw elbows, though. Something I have been practicing for the last month.

Just **** her and then kill her. Personally i was also attracted to the blonde haired girl.

All that said i never saw enough of that show. I hear people make fun of Gundam SEED or at least 4chan does but then 4chan makes fun of everything so nobody cares.

As far as being super attractive goes my saying to them is, "You're a b**** but i'll f*** you anyway."

-----

Anyway if you guys want a show with super attractive girls watch Freezing or High school DxD. Freezing has a bit of a story but the anime turns up the fan service to 11 and shows lots of open breasts at every turn. The beginning of High school DxD seems like it has a story but holy crap with the attractive girls and open boobs once again esp. as the show goes on.

Yeah, after researching a bit, looks like the current uncensored is the best they can get away with. In this case, it means the "drool" is uncensored. (C'mon, who else instantly knew it wasn't drool? )
Stuff like the OP or the language are censored mostly for comedic reasons.

With that said, see you gents at the Blu-Ray version ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

It felt rushed, and excessively gorey.
It wasn't bad, but it didn't have the same sort of feel or atmosphere as the first, and the story wasn't quite as strong.

Same problem that Darker than Black had, really.

Kinmoza did that, too. Better than everyone speaking Japanese, imo.

So, what was Non Non Biyori missing?

Spoiler:

Guess what we got this episode. Yay! Oh, and guess what else we were missing this season?

You'll be a bit surprised about the upperclassmen girls forming a clique to basically kick satellizer's *** and basically sexually humiliate her in the process. The best way to explain Freezing is fan service, ecchi and small harem combined with battle girls fighting aliens and some evangellion mental ****ery.

Just as one example of messed up events being

her step brother basically sexually abused her when they were younger

@thedraconiclord: Why is her mouth shaped like candy corn, pie or pizza or an iron for that matter? I'm gonna start a meme of that maybe if i don't get a proper response. Basically things shaped like her mouth and things covering it. It even looks like a dark vader or space marine helmet mouth.

Btw i was talking with 'thedraconiclord' on steam and i was wondering if anybody wanted to make a group for the anime thread members on steam. Considering how well we seem to get along together i think it could work (i should have you understand how rare that is on the internet and the dakka forum). If you guys don't want to we could always just friend up on steam.

My steam name is:

FKM

-----

In anime related news i should watch Arslan Senki, darker than black (my joke for that is a show called 'darker than the color purple' or something ;P), stein's gate and i think 'world trigger'.

There's also that popular show i've still never watched with the grappling hook kids that fight the giants attacking their city (attack on titan?). Oh and i can't forget about watching the rest of 'monster' when i get the time.

I am finding Monster Musume to be tiring.

The whole reason I don't tend to like Harem Anime is seeing dialog that consists of a bunch of girls whining over one "magic" guy.

"Dahring!" "Masta!" "Mitte! Mitte!"

And the constant blushing. I get really tired of the Japanese "thrill" over bashful women who act like they don't really like sex (while throwing guys into a headlock to get him to feel them up).

I like the monster-girls.

But it is rather... hmmmm.... what is the word I am looking for???

Is it "Disturbing?"

That seems to mild.

What sort of reaction do you have when you think about having sex with a horse?

I mean, Centrea's genitalia IS on the Horse-part, right?

And what about the upcoming Drider-woman???

How is THAT supposed to work??

So I watched the gak out of the psycho pass movie, seeing as how season 1 is one of my all time favorite anime.
I'd say the movie was ok. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't anything special. The engrish was way to excessive, and completely unnecessary considering the fact that it seemed like nobody actually spoke English as their native tongue. There wasn't much of a mystery, no creative or cool bad guy. But it wasn't awful. I'd say it was like a 6/7 out of 10

The film is actually somewhat intelligent if you're familiar with Frantz Fanon, a hint they even dropped twice in the film (Fanon is mentioned by name, as well as his most famous work, The Wretched of the Earth). It's a pretty good run at railing against the immorality and injustice of colonialism, and there's probably a good bit there about the evils of interventionist foreign policy

Now, I don't exactly have a degree on "Monster Girl physiology" but:
- Rachnera (or Drider / Spider-Girl) is the same thing as Miia or Meroune (the mermaid). They don't have any legs, but the "human" part still has the hip area, so the sexual organs are still human-like (Rachnera does have more differences. The extra 4 eyes and the chitin like arms, so who knows what's going on under the hood.). PAPI is easier, she's almost full human except her legs and wings instead of arms.

- Suu, the Slime is the one I consider weirdest. Technically he could do the deed... everywhere... she's a slime after all.

- Cerea, if she follows the same physiology as any other centaur I ever "saw", yes, she does have her sexual organs in the horse part. How I feel about it? I've seen enough centaur related ero-doujins to just go with the flow and not even consider it weird.

- Then there's the girl I don't know about, Lala (or Rara), the Dullahan. Well, she has a human body, the only monster thing about her is having the head detached from her body. Not that hard to imagine what kind of pics are there related to this kind of monster, is it?

And then there's Ms. Smith

(And what do spiders have? And many of them? )
------------------------------

@darkcloud92: Did you watch Season 2? Supposedly the movie should continue the Season 2 arc, it's the reason why it was so short and it felt so rushed, so if you managed to follow the whole thing without watching it I fear I was wrong and S2 was just... well, I wouldn't say bad, but it sure as heck didn't stand up to S1

Oh my. Did you not know that this series itself was actually based on a small hentai manga story? Also, yes, there's Centaur hentai- it's also one of the more popular 'Western' monster-girl type softcore, due to the popular ideal of centaurs not wearing clothes.

Also, Slime-girls are a pretty common thing in hentai. Also known as goo-girls.

The second half... Well, let's say Albedo and the vampire have some competition about Ains' love because GOD DAMN, I fething love that character. Ains is the biggest badass in such a long time. That epic facepalm as he shows how OP he is.

Lastly.....

@BeAfraid - It's not a comparison between styles. KLK and Overlord have a totally different feel, Overlord isn't "OVER THE TOP EVERYWHERE WITH LOADS OF HAM!!!!! ESCALATING UNTIL TWO GIANT MECHS ARE THROWING GALAXIES AT EACH OTHER!!". (and yes, that needs to be in caps to be accurate )

But the hype and excitement Overlord gives? Yeah, that felt KLK all the way. What I meant is that ever since KLK I haven't felt this much excitement with what's happening in an episode. The first half with the human wasn't good, it was excellent, the dude was kicking ass left and right and the dude felt like an awesome paladin but when Ains showed up in true serious mode, he just stole the show (and my heart).

It's Satsuki all over again, really, I have this fascination for "overlord" like characters probably ever since I saw Darth Vader for the first time as a kid. To me the bad guys will always be the rebels

Hey! The worst Kirk did was the green chick (Unless I am missing something).

I am completely down with anything that is at least shaped like a human girl.... Cat-girls, dog-girls, otter-girls, bird-girls... I might be ok with the Centaur (after seeing the doujinshi, and that they can make a centaur look pretty sexy).

But when they come attached to crustaceans.... I start to balk a little.... Bug-girls would be a problem.

I will happily allow Captain Kirk to do the honors of negotiating sensitive alien relations.

I'll probably back off for awhile until the season is done (or close) as I hate watching things an episode at a time... but it's got a lot of promise. MMO references, high fantasy setting (anime+high fantasy can end up really good, look at lodus war/slayers/bunches of others), and interesting characters so far.

Probably the cutest sound since Chaika got hit by a pillow!

The studio is doing an awesome job, but there are so many details you only know by reading the LN. Thankfully reddit helps with some questions!

So I finally got around to watching Roberta's Blood Trail.

There is something disturbingly enthralling about Roanapur. It's like a twisted, modern day Tarzan.

Although since the next arc will probably never get made into an ova, I guess I need to buy the manga. Such is life.

It's a right-wing manga artists way of being gun-ho without ticking off the rest of the country.

Less cynically, it's on crunchyroll. A portal to another world opens up and the occupants attack Japan. The other world is your standard fantasy kitchen sink. Japan has the JSDF. Japan wins.

Oh, and the American president is a jerk and the main character is an otaku.

I have mixed feelings of the anime myself and haven't bothered to keep up on it.

Chaos Dragon is merely Ok. It seems to progress really quickly and wants you to be more invested in some of the characters than they've given you the time to actually be. I barely know what's going on half the time.

The only thing Gate was missing was the bandits' reaction to the music. I was expecting a scene where they kind of stop and look around confused and someone asks what that noise is. I mean they were even riding in with the sun at their backs and didn't use that to show a grand entrance.

They kind of did, actually.
They should have made the music louder, but you could barely hear it, and the bandits were looking up at the sky, trying to find its source.

True. I just don't think there are that many feels because we are already expecting them to die horribly.

Fun fact: Went to Internation Manga Museum in Kyoto today. They have several walls of manga and one of them had mangas that have been animated. So there were several volumes of Non Non Biyori next to... Prison School. With little girls picking them up to check it out. In the anime 3 eps in and we have jokes with S&M, Golden Showers and prison shower sodomy. Oh Japan, never change

Anyone else watching God Eater? It doesn't really seem all that special or original a concept, but I'm finding I really like it, probably in good part because of the animation quality and character/creature designs. Also don't think I noticed it before, but the mood music in this last episode seemed like it was louder than most shows and was pretty good.

So far, Gundam ZZ has been....a shift in tone, certainly. I kind of realised what I was in for when the initial villain could best be described as Zap Branigan by way of Revolutionary Girl Utena, and I can see why it's considered a black sheep of the franchise given how people would have been expecting more Zeta. But once I'd adjusted my expectations, I did start legitimately enjoying the show--there's quite a few characters I really like, none who I find terminally annoying, and the battles remain well done.

I'm currently on ep 20, and from what I've heard it becomes more serious around the halfway mark (when Char's Counterattack began production, and the series started leading into it), so that'll be interesting to see.

Really? I thought she was very mild in this latest episode. Not really that many crazy stunts like she did before. I did laugh way too much with the "Someone help me! She's gonna rape me!"

Also, those credits? Where they teach you to make the sex toy? Priceless. All this with the most famous porn pool in all of Japan: http://kotaku.com/the-most-infamous-swimming-pool-in-japanese-pornography-1520473085 (you can click, it's SFW. it only teaches you about "That Pool", as it's known).

The fact that rape doesn't enter her mind is what is creeping me out. Like couple that with her actions over the past few episodes and someone needs to tell the cops/her mother. What concerns me most is that the PMs are supposed to monitor everything, voice, motions, etc... So why is she seemingly immune to this? Because her mother is pushing for the law, so she has less strict monitoring? If the PMs don't seem to catch the act of intercourse about to occur, then why is Otome bothering to draw with her mouth?

Also, "That Pool" is blown up during the opening sequence.

Maybe it's because she doesn't know? From what we've seen, those things detect it when they do such a thing on purpose, like the drawing. The emotions? I don't think it monitors that or I don't think it's ever explained. The motions... well, we know it at least doesn't record masturbation motions, Kaju was worried about the new law because they could monitor even that (the episode with a ton of statistics popping up). The words, yes, but Anna never once said a "bad" word. Hell, she even invented her own word for her "liquid love" (this is what I found weird since it's, well, one of the slangs for it )

Yeah, it does, it pains me everytime but not as much as the Akihabara destruction the cops are doing D: . That's just HERETICAL.

Since my computer messed up again so all i'll say is watch 'gungrave'. It's from the makers of 'trigun' and if you can get passed the weirdness of the first episode with mecha/monster stuff it turns into a solid mafia story from the 2nd episode till the middle. The ending of the show is also excellent. Many people i knew years ago said the first half of the show is the best anime they've seen. Basically the first half aside from the first episode is a flashback to the origin story of the main cast from years ago. It's a sad and depressing story but very good and full of action.

Still watching Overlord and its getting interesting. It jsut hope it just do a Chaika and wrap up everything in 1 episode.

Naruto Shippuuden is satrting to really me off. I don't care about how Naruto taught Konohamaru the Rasengan over 2 episodes of filler. I just want to see him kick ass. Thankfully it is now back to ass kicking time to I am happy again.

So if you're looking at the Gundam series, you really have two ways to look at the shows.
1) Universal Century shows are stories about how gakky wartime life is, and how it can separate people and turn normal people into either heroes or monsters. These shows start with Mobile Suit Gundam (0079), and move from that through Zeta, ZZ, Unicorn, etc... These take place in the same Earth Federation / Zeon conflict. Often times they have characters from previous series, or at least make mention of them.

2) "Alternative Universe" shows. These are more or less shows that feature gundams, rather than being about the Earth/Zeon conflict. These are series like G Gundam (World Martial Arts tournament featuring Giant Robots), Gundam Build Fighters (which is a gundam show about people fighting the plastic kits like the one you assembled). etc... So these feature their own characters, and suit designs (though because Build Fighters is about the models, you'll see color scheme variants from pretty much every series).

The Universal Century shows are more or less a long arcing storyline that seems to have finished with Mobile Suit Victory Gundam (though there is a live action TV series that takes place 70 years after Victory Gundam). There are plenty of good series in the UC timeline, my favorite being the 12 episode OVA series 08th MS Team, though you can technically skip episode 12, as the story really concludes with 11.

The Alternate Universe shows are self contained, with the exception of Turn A Gundam, which I'll get to in a bit. You can pretty much pick any AU show and watch it without needing any other Gundam knowledge. Based on a question posed about 25 pages ago, Dakka seems to be in favor of G Gunda, which is a good series if you just want robots fighting robots. Gundam Wing is a pretty famous series featuring angtsy mid-90s teenagers. Gundam SEED focuses a lot on the relation of Earth dwelling humans and genetically modified space colonists (UC shows refer to them as normals and newtypes, SEED uses naturals and coordinators). Build Fighters and Build Fighters Try are about fighting with the model kits.

Turn A Gundam kind of gets its own category in all of this. It takes place in "Correct Century" which is a time in humanity's life where a giant apocalypse occurred and humanity was split between those that remained on earth and those that went to the moon. It's an attempt to bring all of the other previous series (so anything in UC as well as G, Wing, and Gundam X) into the same timeline. It's basically industrial revolution America with giant robots. It's currently my favorite non-UC series, with 08th MS team being my favorite UC series.

So my suggestions on where to start:
Universal Century: Mobile Suit Gundam
Alternate Universe: G Gundam

Yeah, I stopped watching that too. I watched a lot of the filler as it went, but then I dropped an entire arc or two of it... too much inconsequential stuff. Waiting till crunchyroll has all of it before I go back to watch, then I'll resub for a week or two till i'm caught up (and done).

Hmm I've left quite a few shows 50-90% done lately, not sure what's with my interest. I guess I'll go pick off a few of those.

Yeah, brotherhood is A LOT better then the original in pacing as well.

Brotherhood also has some really nicely animated fight scenes. Especially where philosopher stones are concerned. I swear they spend more money and get different artists/use different techniques for those few episodes. Think I noticed that during Naruto too.

I was too young to notice pacing issues for anything that wasn't DBZ.

Huh, found Fate/stay night: Unlimited blade Works which seems to be the direct continuation of the last one I watched. While I suspect it's going to still be SRS Bidness, the younger characters make me hopeful it will be a little less doom/gloom than the previous run. And even if it is that way, the fight in the first episode alone is worth some slack.

The last one you watched was Fate/Zero right? If so, yes it's a continuation of the series. Also it is pretty gloom and doom, but I think less so than F/Z because Urobuchi's writing style is all about fething with people mentally (he wrote Madoka Magica Psycho-Pass) while Nasu isn't as extreme as Urobuchi.

I can't find myself watching the Fate series though... It probably has something to do with me finding Urobuchi to not be to my tastes

UBW was designed more or less as a sequel to Fate/Zero -the anime not the VN route- and is balanced on the optimism/cynicism scale. Fate is more on the optimistic side, and Heaven's Feel is... Heaven's Feel.

Still hopeful for that redone Fate route (I'm probably one of the few people who will defend the DEEN version, but is it so wrong to want more Ilya and Saber?)

We're the hero Dakka needs, not the hero it deserves.

Also no idea when the second half of UBW will be on netflix. Sure they tell us what they're dropping, but do they tell us what they're picking up and when?

I actually don't know. I mostly use crunchyroll anyway.

Not Actually anime, but based on one so...

Just got done watching the Attack on Titan movie, which is up online if you know where to look.

coughlevidiadotcomcough

Overall I don’t think it’s as good as the anime series. The shorterness of it, everything being dark and gritty, and the lack of anime hair makes it hard to keep track of some of the who’s who of the characters I think. Plus some of the story changes are weird.

One great thing I Will say is Holy feth the titans are some serious nightmare fuel. Like seriously, the titans in the anime as soothing kittens compared to these creepy ass monstrosities. The only real drawback to their presentation is the usual cliche of being silent and invisible if they’re not on screen so they have the weird ability to sneak up on people despite the huge amounts of noise they constantly make when they Are on screen.

Also the world and everything in it is made out of metal drums. BOOM BOOOOOOMMMM!

I'm pretty hype for the attack on titan film (s). 1) Japanese body horror 2) those titans aren't cgi...

The only problem is that we have to wait until the second film comes out for a complete story.

If you played World of Warcraft when The Burning Crusade was released, you'd know titans are master ninjas.

Ok, if you haven't played: That giant monstrosity was the Fel Reaver,a being so massive it made the ground shake. He was a fething ninja. Many were the times when a player would only realize his doom was upon him when the ground was shaking and suddenly *BAM* instant killed.

The animation quality whenever Madara is on screen seems to be ten times better.

Lol at the giant pillow snake Kind of curious as to why they're in what appears to be an office meeting room as opposed to a regular room (the kind that have beds that go with pillows?) but amusing nonetheless!

Yeah Madara and often sasuke/naruto. Or well more like sasuke+naruto.

Fel Reavers were friggen chumps... Skating around on the ground like it was ice and just appearing out of nowhere...

So Monster Musume no Iru Nichijou just took a very interesting turn. Its fanservy as all hell which franky I don't have an issue with, I know many people do though, but the tone suddenly shifted to feeling very serious but quickly reverted back. I feel theres too many characters to really follow at this point. I remember all the names bar the mermaid monster and the 4 under control by Smith. Still its a good laugh I think and will continue to watch it.

Overlord, oh dear tepisode 7 had me laughing. Who would have thought that Virtuous King of the Forest is actually

Spoiler:
a giant hamster

These are probably the main 2 anime series I will be watching this season. Though I have heard Gate is a mash up of fantasy/modern day which sounds interesting so may watch that at somepoint.

Gate's premise was interesting as hell, and it continues to be above average, but I just don't give a fat frog arse about gothlolita characters, to the point that they're beginning to tick me off...

I would enjoy Gate SO MUCH MORE if Rory was a slightly different archtype.

Aren't you exagerating a bit? The way you said it, it sounds like Rory has been a major player in the show. She hasn't really done much besides wasting some fools, the mage has been much more important with her work as an interpreter.

The elf is the one who hasn't really done nothing so far.
