FYI We are still planning for a League at Legends for this Fall. Looking at a September to December timeframe. This will be a play on your own schedule league so no worries about having to work with someone else's schedule.

Heroes World is a great store, if you're located near Markham. A lot of 40k players are there on Sundays and Mondays. I also go there occasionally. They sell of a lot of other junk like comic books, card games, and other bullsh*t. I often see a lot of people playing Mass Effect 3 on their Turd boxes.

GW at Younge and Lawrence is also really packed on Thursdays and Saturdays. Thursdays are their dedicated 40k nights, you're almost guaranteed to get a game in, provided there are free tables, but they have like 6 of them.

Meeplemart is great, parking is an issue though, if anyone knows of free parking near by I'd love to hear it.

It is however very accessible by TTC, 1 bus south from Carlaw station.

Heavy Support -> good layout and lots of parkin. Through if MTG is on the go they often get lots of tables. I like this place but it a hour for me to get there.

Meeplemart-> 4-5 tables + room for more. Large layout, best prices in the region easily. However only open tues/thurs/sun, but as such is always alive. Sunday is there primary 40k day.

Thats all I can say, same opinion on GW young/lawrence

Meeplemart is good, there's usually parking out front (street parking) There is free parking a little further north

I'm always up for a game at Friendly Troll, it's only 2 misn from my house. The have 2 tables there, 1 of which is usually occupied by Warmachine or MTG. I have not have a problem getting a game there yet though.

It is unsafe to go to Heroes and Legends sometimes, especially when there's no one to play. You have to schedule games ahead of time. The only place I know of where you can pick up games with random people is GW on Yonge Street.

Stupid wedding plans and wife taking a course on Sundays have runined all my 40K playing, and I wanted to go to this!

Until Dec 9th all my sunday's are shot because the wife-to-be has decided to get her CFA (Certified Finanical Analyst) It means she'll make more money (good) but it also means that every Sunday she's out of the house from 8-6 (not so good) leaving me to look after the little one. On top of that she needs to study 5 nights a week so I have pap duties then too!

Saturday's are a maybe, but that won't happen till after Sept 1st.

However I am usually free Thursday nights to play at Friendly Troll, just send me a PM and I'll be there.

Im very interested in the Meeplemart Tournament, but can't make it this weekend. Will this be an ongoing organized event? I'd be happy to help out with the organization, just PM me.

I normally play at Heavy Support Games in their monthly 40k tournament, but this place is closer to home.

Is there anyone looking for a game on Thursday night? I'd be interested in one and can travel a reasonable distance to get to one if need be.

Hey all, I'm going to be moving to toronto from september till december for work, and there seems to be a healthy wargaming scene there judging by this thread! I've played 40k for a year and a half and warmachine for about a month, and am keen to play both in toronto. What wargaming places do you guys recommend? I'll probably be staying near to the financial district for work but am keen to travel about to get games if necessary.

If your in the financial district you are in a slight dead zone and gotta go North, east or west to reach some games.

Closest will be the Games Workshop on Younge... standard stuff but a bit WWAC type of crew sometimes.

Next closet is meeplemart on carlaw (to your east) open Tues/Thurs/Sun, from my experiences has a solid crowd that goes out, generally friendly and the store has stellar prices.

Outside of that Legends (up to the north west somewhere) has some fans, and Heavy Support games to the west (while they support more MTG and warmachines) is good as well.

These are your best choices for 40k.

Since google maps has ttc directions, I took the liberty of mapping a route from King/Bay to both Games Workshop and Meeplemart.

While I played at GW regularly for years, I much prefer gaming at Meeplemart. We have a good group that's down every Sunday. If you are willing to travel to Legends, or at least to the nearest subway station (I can always pick you up), I would love to get some Warmachine games in. I only began Warmachine about 1 month ago, but I love it.

I only game at Legends. I love the large, open gaming area and the 5 dedicated tabletops that are solely for miniature gaming. The gaming area is separate from the retail area, which limits traffic. There is a strong group of players who are regularly found at Legends. It will be further for you, but if you make the journey, I can assure you that you will be happy. I am looking forward to having some new blood...

A lot of these stores are kind of off the beaten trail a bit so it's generally better to confirm with someone online before you head over for a game.

Hello, I am a 29 year old newb. I had always been fasicated with the game. A few years ago I had acquired a small necron army (approx 1k in points) but moved away to where no one who played. Ive since returned to Toronto and dug out of storage the lost army and wouldnt mind getting some games in. I live closest to meeplemart. Ive never played a game aside from a few demos awhile back at the old Eaton Centre store with some store owned Orcs. Is it ok to show up and get a few games in?

It would have been back in and around 2003-2004 I believe. Sadly Sundays are poor for me with work and other obligations. Weds or Thurs nights (or days) are usually for me. Generally East End or along the bloor-danforth line is good for me. Ill post what I have as it appears the lost army is a little out of date based on what I can find with the new codex.

Ive never played a game aside from a few demos awhile back at the old Eaton Centre store with some store owned Orcs. Is it ok to show up and get a few games in?

Welcome! Sunday's seem to be the favoured day for gameing here, Meeplemart has a strong following on Sunday. Some of the guys play durring the day but this happens up at Legends.

Question whats the average amount of 40k players meeplemart gets on sundays

and is that when most people go for 40k or will there be people on thursday as well

Sunday is the 'official' 40k day at meeplemart. There's usually 6-8 guys down.

If you want to play on Tuesdays or Thursday's you should schedule a game in advance.

I am headed to Toronto for a little vacation, and I was wondering about airbrush components. I know this thread is more gaming related, but I figured someone here might have some information that I am trying to find. Google is getting me nothing.

I was wondering if there was a store or supplier of airbrush fittings/water traps and other stuff like that. I need some fittings to get my airbrush up and going and I am to the point that I would prefer to talk to someone face to face to get some questions answered. Any help would be great folks.

Hey everyone. I should be good for some 40k tomorrow (wednesday) if anyone is around. I finaly have a little bit of free time and I'd like to get my third game of 6th in already.

Also, I should be free all day Saterday.

I've been out of the loop for far too long. Are there any decent stores in and around the North York area that 40k players frequent? Speaking of which, is Two Headed Dragon still around and kicking? Places I've been to either played Magic or Warmachine, what gives Toronto?

It's open from 12-5 which is a good amount of time for two 1500pt games. Most of us show up right at 12 and stay until close.

Very cool. Probably worth it for small orders, but not if you're going to get free shipping. His markup is almost 30% on some things, and then there's tax on top of that. Convenience does count for something though.

There's a blood bowl tournament going on at Meeplemart this Sunday. There should still be room for other games though, but just so everyone is aware it may be busier than usual.

Hey all.

There's a tournament on Saturday November 3rd, Conquest (I'm sure most if not all of you have heard of it). Its going to be Doubles 40k and Singles Fantasy. It takes place in East Scarborough in an old veteran's hall around old Kingston road and the 401. 2 partners enter with 1000 points each and play other teams. 4 games, starts at like 930 am and ends at 9 at night.

Anyway, I'd really like to enter the tourney but I'm looking for a partner. Registration is first come first serve (its like 35 per person to enter, 40 after half way through October) so I wanted to get on this as quickly as possible. Anyone out there interested in teaming with me? PM me or post here if you can. Sooner the better.

Theres a good chance i'll be using my nids for the tournie but if some some reason i use my FT's instead i can lend you a tervigon. I prob won't know which way i'm leaning till the week of the tournie though so if you can secure one somewhere else before then do so.

Ya the tervigon is the large "dog" shaped one that spits out the termagaunts each turn. Welcome back DEE, spender and i are playing today around 4pm at legends, trying out an 1850 tournie list. I can only stay till 8pm so probably don't have time for another afterward, i don't know what time spender has you would need to ask him. If you wanted to meet before hand we could try for 1pm and try and get a game in before hand. Though that is extreme short notice lol.

As for the weekend, i'm looking to play in Heavy Supports 1500 pt tournie on saturday, but I probably have sunday off for some games.

I don't know if you've heard, but we've been running a Blood Bowl league for about a year now at Meeplemart. We just had a small tournament and will be starting Season 3 in two weeks. We've had about 12 players per season so far, but we are looking for more people!

Should be lots of people down playing. We're also kicking off season 3 of our Blood Bowl league, so there should be 2 or 3 games of that going on all afternoon.

The games will be 1850pts
Entry - $10.00
Rounds: 3 rounds, each consisting of two hours of game play, with fifteen minutes additional time for deployment.
Top 4 will share in prizes plus additional bonus draw prizes.
Unpainted armies are allowed.
Doors will open early - 9am and game play will start at 10am.


RULES
* The 6th Edition Missions & Rule set and current codex. (Apocalypse and Imperial Armour rules
are not allowed)
* Mysterious Objectives/Terrain WILL NOT be used and terrain will be pre-set up with fortifications dropping onto existing tables.
* Special characters are permitted but subject to normal restrictions for that character in the codex.
* Any armour, weapons and upgrades must be modeled on the miniature. ( WYSISWYG )
* Models must be fully assembles but non-painted miniatures are allowed.
* Forge World models are allowed to represent models from an existing codex.
* No Forge World rules allowed.
* Standard Missions from the current 6th edition rules book to be used.

SCORING

WIN...........3 + Victory Points
DRAW.......1 + Victory Points
LOSE ........0 + Victory Points
Annihilation is worth a bonus 2 points in addition to the above scoring.

Swiss Format will be used for pairings.

PLEASE PROVIDE AN ARMY LIST TO AVOID MISUNDERSTANDINGS.

Anyone looking for some games this week? I'm free Thursday afternoon from 2-7 for some 40k at legends.

I can probably be there. Not sure about my schedule yet. But I'll text you for sure.

I would like to sign up for the next tournament, but there was a major discrepancy during the last one. One particular player was spotted moving his models a few extra inches than they should have been. Also, he didn't "know" the 6th edition rules. My source in this information is a very trustworthy one, and I classify this individual as a cheater, and have zero tolerance for this kind of behaviour.

I believe every player should have the rules down pat and know their own goddamn codex before they enter a competitive environment.

If I see this particular individual enlisted Oct. 21st, count me out.

Yeah i'm not overly fond of cheaters either, though i'm guilty of still looking up rules for 6th edition. Hell i was still looking up rules for 5th edition the day before 6th came out . I'll probably be signing up that day as well if we do end up meeting.

My schedule has changed a bit for Thursday, i'm only available till 6 instead of 7 if that changes anything. If we do get a game in you are going to have to tell me who this "cheater" was because I am very curious now.

Did you make mention of this incidence to the player or organizers?
As for knowing all the rules, only top tournament players probably know all the rules but I even doubt that.
When you are entering a store level competition you will have the whole gambit of players from fully knowledgeable to beginners that want to test the tournament environment
but not want to pay out $80 to be totally trashed in 45 minutes.
If you have any problems at any tournaments always talk to the organizers, that's what they are there for.

I agree that no one should be cheating like you say but you can't seriously expect people to know the rule book and their codex cover to cover. 6th edition was barely out 3 weeks before the tournament started. Some people are lucky to get 2-3 games in a month. This type of tournament is for fun number 1 and I hope that doesn't change. I am curious to know who the player was but I doubt you would name names online. Perhaps a private PM would inform the rest of us to keep an eye out for said player. Thanks for the heads up.

I believe that particular player is known for going to big tourney's such as conquest. Also he is a long time veteran from 5th edition.

Maybe I am being irrational. Sometimes it's the opponent's fault for not correcting an inexperienced player that he is making a mistake, such as moving more than 6". Then again this person, is a long time vet, and moving 6" was no different in 5th than it is in 6th.

Me personally, I do not trust this player, and don't feel like arguing with him. That being said, someone else can take my place. I will probably attend the tournament as a spectator.

@Rhythem: I can be at Legends tomorrow at 2pm. I'm fine by leaving at 6pm. We playing 1850 as usual?

Cool, depending on how long you guys are there for maybe I'll see you. I'm going to try to get out there on wed as well, but I don't know how many other people I'll be able to drag out. Idealy at least one.

I'll be good from 11-8 now, work got shifted around on me, though i still need to pick up the gf at 8:30. As for what army i'm bringing i never really know what i feel like playing till the day of, but i prefer to play 1850 lists for tournie practice. Though i can go higher than that if there is interest in a larger pt level.

I had a few friends who were trying to convince me to go. I'm studying right now in London and I would have been pissed to make the drive to find out they canceled. DXM usually posts stuff here and I didn't see an update that the tournament had been pushed back.

And looking back now I can see that they did push back another tournament - their "farewell to 5th ed tournament" back in July. DXM did post here that they had pushed it back, though.

Normally i would but i plan on reading the eldar codex i picked up today and learning what my army does and can do.

So i hit up HSG for a look at the used mini's they had, and picked up 4 guardian jetbikes, and 2 war walkers. They had a bunch of regular guardians but i don't feel like i really needed them for the list i'm building at this time.

As for tomorrow spender, if you're playing fantasy before hand i might just pass on legends tomorrow. You don't sound like you are sure on whether you are coming or not, or when you will be there. It's too far of a drive to make without knowing for sure .

I almost forgot, I was at Heavy Support Games the other day talking to the guys there and he told me they're planning on starting an escalation league. Since I've never been in one before, I'm very interested and or excited at the idea. Just letting people know to check out their website. Are people interested?

lol well i can't complain to much, the army i've come up with does some crazy shooting, i had 8 kill points in about 2 turns of shooting. Sadly for the next 3 turns i didn't kill anything and instead got stuck in melee which appears to be a soft spot in my army. As for bladestorms all i got to say is 33 shots with 10 guys hitting on 3's and wounding t4 models on 4's with an ap 4 weapon is just nasty. Overall i enjoyed the army, and i think they performed well for their first battle, though fliers could also be another problem for me.

Maybe i'll take a look at their website and see what all the fuss is about, let me know if you are free on saturday for some games, i should be around.

I'm buying a Dark Vengence off of More Dakka, Cant wait to dust off my Chaos!

I've been doing a bunch of trading on dakka to build up my Chaos too! It's super fun and random. I have had games where I bought the gift of mutation for every aspiring champion and rolled 7 nothings, and one game where because of the multiple gifts rolled twice the only one I bought it for started with 7 gifts himself. He also got eaten by a Trygon, though.

If I'm around on the 10th I'll gladly do battle with your warband!

As for army builder, it is updated for 6th edition and works more or less the same as it did in 5th, except they don't have the license to release weapon stat lines it seems. So you can still build an army on it, and it has the correct point values for everything but you will need a codex or rulebook to know what most of the weapons do.

I haven't seen any mention of the escalation league yet either, though it hasn't been that long since you mentioned it before, is this tournie part of it or is it their regular 1500 pt one?

I asked them and they said they're still planning on running the league and they'll have info up closer to the start. So I'm going to check back on their site either this week or next.

I'd go down to the tourney on the 10th like if, as you said, there was interest. If not I'd try to head on over to legends if that's whre the peeps are.

Well my favourite haunts are GW Yonge and Lawrence, Meeplemart, Duelling Grounds and occasionally Heavy Support. I do live near Friendly Troll, but not many 40k players go there any more. As for teaching games, the GW guys are usually great for that, but if you come by Meeplemart on Sundays, some of us might be there to help show you the ropes.

I'd say that depends a lot on where you live, Toronto has a lot of stores spread across it, so depending on your location and if you have a car or need to take transit could narrow your choices.

I personally play at Legends Warehouse, tables, staff, location, and player base are great for what i am looking for.

I live around Dundas & Ossington and the subway is a five minute bus ride from my house. So I'd say I'm pretty mobile.

Go to the tourney, I might go to watch. I dont even have a list or the Codex for Chaos. And My SW, I have no clue about pyskic powers. I might not be ready to play. I did some painting tho. That was fun. I should be getting my stuff from More Dakka either Friday or Sat. Inc the mini rulebook.

I don't know if there's going to even be a tourney. With only myself and Rythem posting about it and the guy there telling me that they've had a bunch of nothing for the last few tournies, maybe the best bet is to just head to legends for some regular games.

I assume Legends rescheduled tourny for the 18th is still a go?

Many people have mentioned Legends. If anyone knows how to get their via TTC that would be a help. For the moment I am content with painting and perhaps going to a few locations close by to learn the game better. If you don't mind playing with a new player, PM me.

Legends isn't really in Toronto, it's in Vaughan near the Vaughan Mills mall. You could do a google search and see if TTC Bus Routes. It's called legends Warehouse.

The closest you can get to legends via transit is downsview subway station, no idea on where buses go. If you are looking for beginner games i am more than happy to play. I mostly play fluff based lists anyways so winning and losing doesn't usually bother me as long as i'm having fun . What point level are you looking to play at? And what times are you available to play at? These could also dictate certain stores to play at.

Skycapt44: As far as i know the legends tournie is still on, though i'd call them just to make sure.

Kungfujew/Styrofoam: Yeah if we're not 100% on whether the HSG tournie will be running i'd rather just meet up at legends and get some games in there.
