Ha, figures, I'm sitting here all atwitter for when mine will arrive, and work goes, 'hey, we're going to send you out of the country for two weeks starting Tuesday!' (this should be a lesson to just have things shipped to the office.)
That US backers have been getting there's fills me with hope... c'mon rolling fields, urban clean and urban ruined! You can do it!

That's kind of disappointing for people who got the display board only. Sorry to hear that.
I got the full set of 16 for Rolling Fields (well, I guess I really got 2 sets of the full 8 options) and the Scrapyard set. Holy cow, these really nice! They look fantastic at first glance. Great quality, very cool looking, but not filled with the kind of unusable, uneven terrain that GW put all over the RoB boards. The boxes are very good quality too, and I think they will serve admirably for storage and transportation for years to come (assuming I don't take a dunk in the sea or anything).
I know that the storage spacers were going to have to be redesigned (due to the boards having more variations in elevation than originally planned--which is awesome), but has anyone heard anything about them? Do we have a timeline for when they will be available, or whether backers will get sets for free or discounted? I'm very excited to paint up these boards, but not terribly excited about figuring out how to store them with foam between them when spacers are still (presumably) planned. I'm not bothered about the prospect of paying for some spacers, but I want them now!

With a total of 4 16-tile sets on their way, I'm also very interested to hear about the spacers. Putting effort into painting them and then stacking them into the boxes doesn't sound too exciting...

I would imagine the best option for Justin in designing them would be to take the tallest tile there is and design it around that tile with 1/4-1/2" clearance above it and simply use that single size for all the risers.
I'd also like perhaps to see a set of middle risers to store these in a 1x2 configuration to make bags/cases easier to manage without needing to get super tall, but that's just personal preference.

I'm hoping that the spacers will be able to be used with the current Tablescapes boxes, but I have to admit I'm not sure how they would fit. There's not a ton of room around the edges of the tiles, but then again, I don't have a CAD program to help me out with that!
Basically, I'm wiling to buy more foam to put between each of the tiles, but I'd rather support SWM and get spacers from them. I just don't want to buy foam, and then find out that I could have had a V-8--I mean, I could have gotten spacers. Plus, I like the idea of the spacers a lot more.

BOOYAh. Took the day off work to be home when my new computer is delivered, got my rolling fields and scrap yard sets as a bonus! Maybe Shadows of Brimstone will arrive!
The tiles look amazing! I'd still love to see some more tutorials when time permits though. I also think these should sell super well at retail!
Oops, missed Mr Justin's earlier post that they were working on more tutorials - awesome!

Quick reply - busy day.
More tutorials are coming - but it takes time to edit and format them, and time is something I don't have right now. They're a top priority... right after the other TS related top priorities
Tile spacers will be back in the works once the backers are all shipped.
And now I'm back to number crunching. K'bye.

For my Rolling Fields table I'm using the Fieldstone paint set from the PaintWorks kickstarter https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/klingbeil/game-decors-paintworks-terrainpaint
I'm airbrushing most of it. So far I airbrushed Vallejo Panzer Grey surface primer, then thinned down the fieldstone base color and laid down 2 layers of it which is solid enough to completely cover it. I tried hand brushing a small patch with a large brush to see if that would be faster, and it was not(coverage issues, bubbles, all manner of no good).

I've been pondering how to paint my tiles. I'm tossing up between buying a can or two of primer and spraying them or whether to just throw a load of gesso on them.
I'd airbrush them but I'm gak at airbrushing aaand... I don't currently know where my airbrush is....

AUS/NZ & UK/EU Shipping Update

Shipping status update - AUS/NZ & UK/EU
We believe we have identified the data discrepancy that led to the AUS shipping snafu. I am having my findings reviewed, and am working with The Combat Company to confirm that our numbers (what they should have VS. what they actually have) match up this time.
The Combat Company has shipped everything that it can currently ship. If you did not receive a shipping email from them then your order is on hold. We are already working together to schedule a freight shipment for the missing items.
New Zealand orders will now be shipped from the USA. This is a bummer. Unfortunately the cost for TCC to ship is actually equal to or greater than shipping from the USA, and once we figure in freight, duties, etc. it makes more sense to ship NZ from SWM HQ. Fear not, we're still moving about 150 orders per week -- and you'll be in the queue with us shortly.
UK/EU orders are being held while we confirm tile counts. This means waiting to resolve the AUS situation so that we can be sure we have this right before we apply the same fix to the larger UK/EU list. Freight for the missing items will be arranged ASAP and shipping will begin even while that is in transit for those items that Mantic can move now. At least that's the plan today. If it changes I will post another update.
So what happened?
So you might remember that you could add additional tile sets to your order as an add-on at the end of the campaign. You could also add a TON of other stuff. That's what happened. Those additional tile sets were not included in the backer summary, and so they didn't get shipped to AUS and UK.
When TCC started shipping they very correctly included those add-on items... which hadn't been accounted for. Thus the unexpected shortage.
FEAR NOT!
I ordered a fair bit of inventory to keep on-hand for the Secret Weapon retail launch. I have delayed any public announcement of the launch, and delayed any public pre-orders, so that we can reserve this inventory to fill in the gap.
My chief concern right now is making sure we get the missing items to our shipping partners as quickly as possible.
In the interim we're still moving orders through the US warehouse, with another batch going out with FedEx today. This will slow a bit as I'm tied to my desk quintuple checking the numbers for our shipping partners, but it will continue.
My bad, moo moo!
The mistake causing us problems is a simple human error. I missed the add-on section in the tile counts that got shipped to my partners, and so too few tile sets got shipped. My apologies. I will have this fixed quickly, and it will soon be a distant memory.

Azazelx wrote:According to my parents, I received two boxes at different times in the post (different couriers?Aust Post delivery people?). Not unusual in itself.
One large box from somewhere in China, and one smaller box - "like a large shoebox" from Combat Company inside a plastic mailing package.
Do either of these sound familiar to anyone? I'm concerned that the Chinese box could be something unrelated and that SWM/Combat Company fethed up my order and I got the original display board set sent out instead of the "Wargamer" I upgraded to via the pledge manager...
Actually, I think I know what the Chinese box is.... 1:6 scale models. gak... I wonder how long Justin and CC will take to un feth my order.
Well, good news on my end. The large box from somewhere in China turned out to be the tiles - haven't opened them to QA them yet, but I trust they'll all be there and I can check inside later on the weekend - and the bagged box wasn't from COmbat Company, but my EMS stuff from China. Mum (75yo) got confused since she writes down what arrives at her place and rings me to leave a message - so when I was asking her to describe them for me on the phone she went and checked - and the big (tile) box had China printed on the side so she must have assumed the smaller bagged box was the Combat Company one.
Anyway - all good here. I'll have a proper look at them tomorrow, hopefully.

Just opened my box that got here today. I'm really enjoying the quality of them and can't wait to start painting them when I get a chance.
I do have one complaint though on the Clean Urban Streets on my Barrier tile I'm missing the pop up barrier! I looked through both boxes and I'm missing it! Was looking forward to flipping it up and down. :(
Is there anything I can do to get a replacement Barrier piece?

Nope! Coz it's Gorkamorka--or the Old West, and I'm much more likely to ambush some rascals down in Dry Gulch than at the lovely river!
Although honestly, a very little bit of water effects right in the streambed wouldn't look too bad, AND it would make that area a bit more level for models. Hmmm.

I've had some luck with pva / wood glue and the clear plastic you get from blister packs. Paint the river sections then connect them together with small sheets of blister plastic sandwiched between each tile, held in place by PVA. This will stop the water effect flowing from one tile to the next and the (dry) pva should stop the water effect from leaking out.. and because the plastic is clear you can see through it to make sure the water level matches up with the next tile.
Two things to bear in mind:
1) The blister plastic wont always peel away from the water effect once dried. Maybe some vaseline on the plastic will help with that.
2) Even if you do a great job and the water levels match perfectly, you are still going to have a line that you can see. I was able to cheat when I tried this because I was making a canal so I put a grate at one end of each river section that would filter out rubbish and drift wood and stop it flowing down river. You could perhaps do the same by ensuring that there are small rocks etc just above the water line at one edge of the tile. With the associated foam around the rocks it helps to distract the eye from the line right next to it. Heck if you are feeling super adventurous you could create a strip of rocks / foam that you could place over the join.

Cyporiean - I like where you're going with the paint job, but I think the surroundings need more brown soas not to clash with the riverbed.
Snrub - I've thought about that, too . But I'll be using two tiles of mine as a Dropzone Commander display, and I think the riverbed can look like a dirty ravine / canyon much better at 10mm scale if I do not add water effects (I think water would make the mind picture the rocks as small, instead of boulders like I want).

Update #149
Dude, Where's My Order?

UK/ EU Status Update
Mantic requested some changes to the formatting of the mailing list we sent them. Those changes were made over the weekend, and the list has been sent to them for review. If this format meets their needs they will start shipping shortly. I will update again as soon as I hear back from them.
AUS/NZ Status Update
The Combat Company is sorting through orders to see if there's anything else they can ship. I will help them in that effort this week. In the interim we are looking at the logistics of getting the missing product to their warehouse. I apologize for the additional delay, and want to assure our AUS backers that every order will ship.
New Zealand orders will ship from the California warehouse. Logistically it doesn't make sense to send your inventory to AUS from California. Your orders have been grouped with the other international orders we're shipping. Those are not sorted by country, and you will ship at the same time as Canada, Mexico, China (comically enough), UAE, etc.
USA/Everyone Else Status Update
As of today 309 orders have left our warehouse to domestic backers. This has given us enough room to begin staging international orders, which means we'll be shipping international AND domestic as we move forward.
If you are a domestic backer, I recommend signing up for FedEx Delivery Manager:
http://www.fedex.com/us/delivery/
Unfortunately our system isn't playing nice with the data we got out of BackerKit, so we can't send you an automated email. Entering the email for every order manually would slow shipping for us significantly... and that's not good.
So Where's My Order?
I realize that it's difficult to be patient when people are posting photos of their orders, and I've had to announce some logistics challenges -- but every order will ship. In the interim, I ask that you please hold off on sending me an email, or message asking about your order status. Right now I'm getting 20+ of those almost every day, and tracking down order status means time not spent shipping. The lack of automated emails sucks, and I'm sorry that's the case. It's frustrating for us as well.
Orders are leaving the warehouse almost every day, and now that we have more room for staging the pace should start picking up.
Thank you all for your continued patience, and support.
Please remember: All orders will ship, and we're in this for the long-run, with great new things planned for 2015.
So, does anyone know how the orders are being prioritized for shipment? In update #145 Justin mentions that Wargamer and Double Wargamer pledges were focused on to make room in the shipping area, and at the time of that update (October 17) there were 104 boxes ready for FedEx pickup. Today's update puts the total number of pledges shipped at 309, so 200 packages were shipped in a week, which is great, but how are the remaining pledges being prioritized? Is it pledge size, delivery location, pledge order (as in when the pledge was made on KS) or something else?
Also, regarding the automated e-mails (or lack there of) is that something that will be corrected for future campaigns? Perhaps I am pissy because this long overdue campaign is urging me to continue to be patient, but Justin's message regarding holding off contacting him for order updates is as obnoxious as it is funny. In the comments section of the KS page Justin was urging people to contact him for updates just a few days ago. Obviously things changed and his mailbox blew up with inquires, but that should be expected when there is no communication from the company regarding shipping notices. The suggestion to use FedEx as a means for updates isn't useful either, as at least one poster on here reported that they received their pledge without a notification.
So, for those of us still without our pledges the only solution is patience and silence? Patience. Patience. Patience. The motto of this campaign by far.

392 And Counting....
392 orders have been packed at Secret Weapon HQ, and that doesn't count any work done today as I'm not in the warehouse to count packages.... and we're still packing orders every day.
Next week we'll shuffle the international orders into the shipping pile, meaning that domestic and international orders will ship side-by-side. Literally, as we're still limited in our staging space, even as we clear out boxes.
On Monday, 3-November I will launch the 24 tile sets for retail --- please note that ONLY the 24 tile sets will be available to the public. Why only those sets? Because the ability to order separate 16 and 8 tile sets was a Kickstarter exclusive, meaning those 24 tile sets exist only as retail stock. I will NOT be selling any 4 or 16 tile sets until the last backer has shipped.
"Wait, does that mean that a regular buyer might get tiles before I do?"
Yes, that's possible. But without positive cash flow I won't be able to keep shipping. Please remember that the campaign only covered the cost of tooling (with a tiny bit left over), and that all production, design, packaging, packaging labor, freight, AND SHIPPING are being covered by Secret Weapon.
The original plan was to ship in four separate waves, which would have meant staggered expenses, and a projected profit by the third shipment (Rolling Fields). Because I wasn't able to ship in waves, as was originally planned, and everything launched at the same time that financial burden is much heavier than it would have been otherwise.
And so I have no choice but to sell the 24 tile sets -- and only the 24 tile sets -- in order to keep the pledges rolling out the door.
"Will this slow things down for backers?"
The 24 tile sets are packed one to a box - meaning we just have to grab one, put a shipping label on it, and set it on the outgoing pile. This should not impact backer shipping in any meaningful way.
"I don't think it's fair for the public to get their tiles before backers do!"
Honestly, neither do I... but there's no other option. I have hit the limit of my ability to pay for shipping without new revenue coming in. Those 24 tile sets will solve that problem handily, and allow me to keep orders rolling out with no delay.
I know that there will be backers who are unhappy with this decision, and to them I will repeat the only statement that truly matters:
Every backer will get their order.
We've overcome every barrier to getting this product to market, and to making sure every backer order gets shipped, and nothing will stop that now. If you don't have your order yet, please remember that it's coming.

At least Justin is delivering and able to be reasonably straightforward, unlike Games and Gears.
To be fair to them, they had a natural disaster to contend with, but they're now at double their initially projected delivery time. After multiple missed dates and such they now seem unable to write a coherent sentence in English. It's all just mangled semi-coherent overly-florid grammar filled with empty platitudes and the same few points/excuses made over and over.

Shipping Update - All Regions - All Themes
EU/ UK Starting Next Week
I received confirmation from Mantic this morning that they're aiming to start shipping either this week or next. Backers in the EU/ UK regions will be receiving emails from Mantic as orders go out. Stay tuned....
AUS Status
The Combat Company is reporting overages (too many of a SKU) in addition to the already identified shortages. Because neither of those things should have happened I've brought in a new data analyst to find out what happened, and get that sorted. In the interim TCC has sent me a list of the product he needs, and we'll get those sorted ASAP and figure out the freight situation.
US/Other International Orders
The first batch of international orders is leaving the warehouse this week. We've shuffled the domestic and international orders together, and are shipping both USPS and FedEx orders side-by-side.
This week we have to get all of the product in the second warehouse space moved into our actual warehouse space. We have the room now, and our temporary lease is about to expire. This means shipping will be slow this week, as we need to keep the staging area clear so we can maneuver boxes into new groups.
We've broken the 50% mark on all orders leaving the California warehouse, and can finally walk from the front door to the back without tripping over boxes.
The Official Unboxing Thread

If you've received your tiles, and want to show off your setup, please hit the unboxing thread and share a link. Seeing tiles on tables out in the wild has been amazing -- and my thanks go out to everyone sharing their photos!

It's interesting to me to see zero updates for long periods, then updates every day or two... "continuing to ship" is fine, but I don't need to be notified when 50%, 60% etc of packages have shipped

I think updates are often a reflection of the level of excitement/mood of the creator unless they've established a set update schedule (like Mierce or Reaper).
Hoping mine are in with the first batch of boxes that went off to Canada...

That update was also partially a reflection of the daily emails I was receiving from AUS/ UK/ EU backers
Seriously though, it was taking up about an hour every day. I figured an update was overdue. People need to know what's up!

It's been a heck of a three week run. Got my Tablescapes on the first week, my Robotech KS stuff the second, and my DF caverns came in today.
Now I need to scratch up the pennies for the rolling fields. And save up a stash to have on hand if and when we get those trenches.

I kinda do. It informs my panic about not receiving a Fedex Delivery Manager notification.

I'm gonna cut Mr Justin a bit of slack on this one. He is busting his butt to get the stuff out the door, while answering questions on forums and the kickstarter comments thread. Dealing with folks like me who are in the middle of moving (2nd time during this kickstarter) and also running a business to keep his cash flow positive.
To Mr Justin, Good job of juggling all the chainsaws. Keep up the good work man.

...unless you're one of the people still waiting on yours. Or yours is one of the fethed up Aussie ones. Then you might be more interested from a "how long to go?" perspective.

Wall/Fortification Sets -- FINAL SET FINISHED!

One of the casualties of the Tabelscapes shipping madness was my ability to get the wall/fortification sets finalized. Well that's a problem no more! The last two sets, Rolling Fields and Forgotten City, are now finished and in master molds.
This is the first production mold for the Rolling Fields walls. We'll start making individual component molds this week for this and Urban Streets -- the only finished set still missing those.
This is a detail shot of the Forgotten City T wall -- digitally sculpted by the talented Raffa from Massive Voodoo, and then with a bit of additional weathering and touch-up before it goes into molds to ensure clean casts.
Components for the Forgotten City wall set, and two quick layouts on the prep table.
And now I'm going back under my rock to get though the work that piled up while I'm at the warehouse -- more news as I have it, for all quarters.

Even though I've been playing 40k for 6 years, I'm still blown away by the sheer size of a 6x4 table.
How are people storing the tiles? I remember that there were supposed to be spacers, and something about a thin layer of foam between the layers?

US Shipped International Orders - Update

TL;DR version: We're having a LOT of trouble with USPS, and will be putting a temporary halt to international shipping while we find an alternative.
For those interested in a slightly longer version of this drama, let me open with this haiku that I just received from Brandon after USPS finally brought a truck to pick up the outgoing parcels:
USPS sucks
I'm gonna pull my hair out
Die USPS
Last week I spent almost two hours on the phone trying to get someone to send out a truck we could actually fit the boxes in. Today they finally sent a full-size container truck... that didn't have room in it for our orders. I kid you not. Three times previously they had sent normal residential mail trucks for the packages. To add insult to injury, they insist that we allow them an 8 AM to 5 PM pickup window... even though we close the warehouse at 4 PM.
Tomorrow is a holiday, so they won't be back until Wednesday this week. Those parcels are actually stopping us from consolidating the two warehouse spaces, and have created staging issues for more than a week now. I started reaching out to other services last week, and today I reached out to other companies in our market to get their input. I'll have a new shipping solution in place as quickly as possible, but it's not likely to be USPS. We've burned too many hours, gotten a crummy rate, and they're really just not geared for this.
My apologies to international backers that have already received their USPS shipment emails, and are waiting on their tiles to arrive. They're packed, and labeled, and still sitting in our warehouse....
If anyone wants to enjoy a fun rant, I can share the full story in the comments, but right now I need to take a wee little break to keep from burning down the whole building.
It's good times.

Awesome!
My buddy just got his Dwarven Forge cavers sets in the other day (and they're still setting on the gaming table) or we would have set up our 9'x4' table of tiles last night.
Got all the tiles out and pretty pleased with them. My two concerns are:
1. there's a huge discrepancy between road textures from one tile to the next. Some of the surfaces look like they've got sand glued to them and some are almost just bare plastic. This will make painting interesting since a drybrush will pick out details in one but not the other. Hopefully airbrushing will help. Perhaps some selectively applied textured paint?
2. There are no "L" shaped road sections. This can be alleviated with a "T" butting into a "flat" section (making a parking area out of the road end that's butted into the flat) but it is a little upsetting corners cannot be made. I'm sure it has been pointed out before but it had slipped my mind in all the waiting/excitement.

Post by: DaveC
Yep there never was an L road section it was asked for but didn't make it in it's apparently one of those designs to be done at a later date. To many T and crossroads IMO but no L but as you say easier to make a T section work as an L than the other way.
Now where are Mantic at I'd almost think they are stalling for time while they finish off MA shipping as they have now asked Justin for images of everything for packing purpose having had the tiles for nearly 2 weeks ( the first issue was with the address merge)

Ugh!
However, I have made the best of my tiles that came, and will be using the two straight creek bed tiles as a display for my Dropzone Commander army which I think they will be perfect for!
Still doesn't change the fact that some of the tiles (no corner in the creek display, no "L" roads, different textured roads) aren't what people expected, though... seems to be happening frequently.

"No L roads in the base theme" has been a thing since before funding.
The texture thing is odd though, and seems to only be an issue with the streets.

Neither of those things ended up becoming things that exist at this point. Sadly, I'm not sure what to do with my tiles when I do have time to paint them, since I'm going to have no realistic way to store them all without trashing the paint. I'm also disappointed to hear about the texture discrepancies on the road tiles, since those were the main thing I picked up. (no, I haven't opened or examined them properly yet.)

There's plenty of room in the boxes to pack sheet foam between each tile. That's what I plan to do once they're painted.

I just have to find 22 pieces of 13"x13" foam, I guess.

As an Australian that can afford to wargame I assume that you are in the 1% and could simply store them in one of your gaming pantries, or, at the very least in one of the unoccupied rooms of your servant quarters.
I may have misunderstood the Australian pricing discrepancy conversations.
So did any of the International orders go out? I wasn't sure if that update was referring to all of the ones packed so far or just a specific batch.

It sounds like the same problem Reaper had during Bones I
Loads of product ready and packed but no way to get it collected by USPS (although they looked for alternatives they eventually had to stick with USPS due to cost and it took months to resolve for international backers)

Mantic have started shipping the EU orders today. Shipping is confirmed by email.

Well, to be fair, two strips of foam between each tile should prevent them from rubbing. It's not like the tiles are going to flex that much or anything.
I will be glad to get spacers, because it would let me stack them on my storage shelves neatly, but 1" or 2" wide strips of foam at each end of the tile should be enough to keep them from damaging paint (unless you have really scratchy foam, that is!).

DaveC wrote:Just got UPS shipping confirmation from Mantic - 30KG of tiles! (split in 2 lots of 15KG each)
What ended up happening with these? I thought they were supposed to (and then set to) ship in Feb or March or something like that? Then suddenly they shipped after everything else?
61979
Post by: DaveC
RiTides I had to look for that in context I see it was from SDE:FK someone was messing with the total to unlock stretch goals then dropping it again (the comment was more tongue in cheek than serious). I haven't spent close to $700 on a project this year that's closer to this years total spend. No need to break the bank, I put €20 a week in a KS fund and I haven't even spent all of the current years fund yet.
I've spent and backed a lot less this year than last and in a lot of cases just put in for the minimum pledge. Zc3 and SDE:FK are my only "big ones" this year.
Azazelx: there's been a good few issues throughout WGF had a back log and the timetable slipped then there was issues with packaging. Mantic and SWM only got them about 3 weeks ago and all sets came at once rather than staggered as was the original plan.
115
Post by: Azazelx
Yeah, I was following the rest of them. I just recall a whole lot of "Mantic need these by Feb, so we're getting ready to ship them!" (or March, or whatever it was) then nothing on it, followed months later by "We're going to ship to Mantic now." which made me wonder WTF happened there...

Ah OK got you now they needed the Deadzone tile sets that people bought as part of the Deadzone KS to ship with DZ wave 2.

Ah, so the ones that were part of the DZ KS shipped with the earlier DZ waves, and Mantic are now shipping the ones that were bought in the SWM KS (along with the other themes?)
61979
Post by: DaveC
Yep exactly, you only got the Deadzone sets early if you bought them in the DZ KS. There is only 1 DZ tile so it was a quick and easy one to get made which is why they were able to send Mantic stock for their KS ahead of the other themes (which have 8 or 16 unique tiles)
The DZ tile made for the Mantic DZ KS should be a bit thinner than the later SWM KS one as they didn't take account of the road depth on the Urban tiles for matching the sets up when they did the initial run, this should be fixed on the later production run.
115
Post by: Azazelx
OK that makes sense. It was quite confusing to see them talking about "shipping the DZ tiles now" recently without that extra information/context

Exactly that the spacers got packed with the Deadzone theme before they decided to scrap the current design. It's the only theme they come with and not every set might have them.

Post by: SlaveToDorkness

The initial offering by SW.
The damaged urban tiles probably wouldn't work with the spacers I got. At least one tile has a fairly high rubble pile.

Update #156
Nov 18 2014
Good News, Bad News....

Hello backers! This is going to be a long update, with good news, and bad news.
Let's get the bad news out of the way first.
Bad news for everyone:
We have identified the data issue that caused a product shortage in Australia. It was not, as originally thought, a matter of overlooking the add-on items. This problem has effected all of the inventory, and we're short 342 16 tile sets in the Urban - Mixed, Scrap Yard, Rolling Fields, and Forgotten City themes. This was confirmed at Secret Weapon HQ when we boxed the last of the Urban Mixed sets, while staring at a pile of backer orders for them.
Good news for everyone:
I waited to post this update so that I could confirm the good news: Wargames Factory has agreed to waive their minimum order quantities to get the missing product to us as quickly as possible. As of this morning the Urban - Mixed production is finished, and they estimate two weeks to finish everything else and have it loaded for transport. These orders will ship without the fancy boxes, but they should be on their way to us in December. This order will also include the border/frame sets that were missed in the initial order.
This means another short delay for effected backers, i.e. anyone waiting on Urban - Mixed, Rolling Fields, and Forgotten City tiles leaving from the USA, some few in UK/EU, and customers in AUS and NZ.
Good news for UK and EU backers:
As many of you have already noticed, Mantic Games has begun shipping your Tablescapes Tiles. As I type this, 73 of 314 orders have been shipped -- or nearly 25% of them!
UK and EU backers will be receiving an email with your tracking information, so keep an eye on your inbox.
Of course Mantic is also affected by the product shortage, and aware that it's coming, so some orders will be held until the replacement inventory arrives. They will ship everything they can until they run out of product.
Good news for AUS and NZ backers:
Your orders will be the first to ship from the new stock, and this solution is actually faster than if we had tried to get freight from California to Australia. You can expect your orders in Q1 of 2015.
Good news for US/CAN/OTHER backers:
Orders leaving from SWM HQ will continue to ship, but at a reduced rate as shipping funds will have to continue to come out of the general operations budget. The money that would have paid for 100% of shipping is... not going to be there, because the distributor inventory doesn't exist for 66% of the line.
We've shipped more than 50% of the orders, and have very few remaining:
Canada: 95 orders remaining
USA: 333 orders remaining
Other International: 30 orders remaining
If you're a backer waiting on one of the missing tile sets, obviously we won't be able to ship until the inventory arrives from China. I will post an update as soon as I have information from Wargames factory on the freight situation, but you can expect your order in Q1 of 2015.
Good news for Canadian backers:
Your orders will still ship via USPS. It's not easy, and it's not pretty, but we should have the system worked out at this point. There will probably still be days where we rage at truck drivers that don't have room for our pickup... but orders will continue to go out.
This sucks. It really, really sucks.
Obviously this issue was not created intentionally. When I say it's an expensive mistake... that's an understatement. But the solution is in place, the missing product is in production, and we will continue to ship what orders we can in the interim.

This is a public sale too, so please spread the word far and wide.

Think of it as an extended 20% period for backers, since it would obviously have been problematic for Justin to do 36-40% off.

Stock Shortage - PRODUCTION FINISHED!
I got a note from Wargames Factory this week letting me know that all production is finished for the items we shorted. I have asked for clarification on the freight quote, but everything should be on boats shortly.
USA / Canada / Other International
We're still shipping orders out of SWM HQ. We've had to slow down due to the cash crunch, but orders are still leaving every week. The only theme we are NOT shipping is the Mixed Urban set, which was effected by the shortage.
AUS / NZ
Australia is still holding for the restock, and will likely be the first to receive product again. They will resume again as soon as the restock arrives.
UK / EU
Mantic hit the shortage wall this week, and shipping has stopped. They will resume again as soon as the restock arrives.
Next Steps
I will post another update as soon as we have the freight information so that we can all follow the ships again.

Apparently, from the comments section, they are shipping about 10 (I think I read 11) orders a day, so they are grinding through the backlog.

John used an airbrush, of course, but he walks you through each step, and every color, in the blog post. Really beautiful work, and I hope that I get a chance to play on this table at NOVA Open in 2015!
In unrelated news, I'm still waiting on the ship information -- but the short product run has been picked up by the freight company. Stay tuned....

I have an odd question - I was thinking of trying to get my hands on two urban tiles for a small display board for an Infinity army. Is there some other product that would make as much or more sense for that? I don't think it's going to be possible for me to find just two tiles, and I'd like a little more elevation on parts of the display. (That said if someone Is selling an urban display, let me know although I don't think these are going to be sold after the Kickstarter unfortunately)

Looks fantastic! Well done! How did you manage to differ the shading on the individual concrete slabs? Masking and airbrushing?
16
Post by: PLC
No airbrush was used
All done with spray cans and wash. Made a one square template mask and used different spray colour over base.
Took two hours to do all the board.
All up I'd say the full board took around 10 hours

I've never really liked all the squares you'll eventually find on a 6x4 board using 12" squares.. but man this city fight table is marvelous...

Made a reasonably dilute oil wash using Burnt Umber and washed whole board.
When it came to rubble I used some Agrax Earthshade and Secret Weapon Concrete sparingly. Automatically Appended Next Post: Here's a quick tutorial

Update #161 Jan 6 2015 Shipping Status - Inventory Update - Frame/Border Update 5 comments 12 likes Hello backers, and a happy 2015 to all of you! Inventory Update First up, I am happy to announce that the ships have left China with our missing inventory -- and although I didn't get ship info so we could track it, I have gotten a delivery notice! The inventory for USA and Australia is due next week, and I'm hoping to get an update on the UK container shortly as well. Shipping Update We're still getting orders out of the California warehouse ever week, although we did slow during the holiday closure. With the missing inventory coming, we'll be shuffling those orders back into the queue. Australia and UK/ EU shipments will resume as soon as the inventory is unloaded, and our shipping partners can fit it into their schedule. I'll get an update on that as soon as I'm able. Shipping Status We're still shipping at a reduced rate due to the cash crunch created by the inventory shortage. It's a mess, but pledges are leaving every week. Over the past couple of months I've had several people offer to pay for their shipping in order to help out, and get their product more quickly. I have been denying all of those requests, because shipping was included in your pledge, but I had two customers point out that they were willing to solve that problem, and my saying "no" was hurting both parties. And so they paid for shipping, and their product went out. I don't like this practice. At all. But refusing to let people pay for shipping really is counterproductive. If your pledge is shipping from California, and you would like to cover the cost of shipping to get your order out more quickly, please drop me a message with your full name, and email address. I'll let you know what shipping will cost, and send you a PayPal Payment Request. Easy peasy. HOWEVER every pledge will ship, and no payment is required. This is simply a reply to those that have offered to cover shipping in order to help speed things up. Frame/Border Update The frame/border add-on sets are in this shipment, and will be shipped with this wave. All three shipping zones have enough for backers, and a few extra just in case. We will list them for resale as soon as the last backer add-on frame has shipped. MSRP TBD. HAPPY NEW YEAR! While we enjoyed a few days off for the end of year festivities, we're back in the warehouse and cranking out new goodies. I have a bunch of new releases coming out of the queue, and plenty of fun new things to show off. Of course we first have to make room for the new inventory, while also preparing the booth for Adepticon, and ramping up for con support. Weeeeeeeee! As always, my thanks to all of you for your continued support, patience, and enthusiasm. 2015 is going to be a great year. Or else Justin 'misterjustin' McCoy Note: I underlined that sentence. I made it for emphasis, just so people wouldn't miss it.

Australia / New Zealand - SHIPPING UPDATE

Good news backers!
I was waiting on an update on the ships, and instead got this from Russell at The Combat Company:
"I was able to get 99% of what was left out yesterday and the dispatch list is looking a much healthier green. Attached."
This includes orders to New Zealand. There are still a few things left to ship, and I'm going through his dispatch list now, but that should be the bulk of you.
I still need to send out the walls -- and I'll have an update on that soon -- and it looks like a few folks will be missing a Display Board or two. Whatever is missing, we'll have it corrected in short order.
For everyone else....
No word on the UK shipment yet, but the US shipment is due at my warehouse next week. I'll post updates as I have news, of course. Stay tuned!

Not that I like these any better, its just that there seems to be a chance I'd actually get my boards instead of the mess that G&G have created with their half-truths and outright lies. I am less than pumped. Seriously considering asking for a refund.

Got to play on a ruined city (think it was damaged urban streets) in last weekends apoc game, to be honest I'm sort of glad I didn't get in on it now as I was leaning toward the damaged streets. The tiles, whilst pretty, are a nightmare for actual gaming. The non-ruined sections are fine, (it seems he got clean urban streets too), but anything with rubble sections seems tailor made to make anything on a base smaller than a large oval fall over, (and even then I didn't dare stand my flyers on it).
They clip together wonderfully though, and packing them away at the end was a lot easier than the RoB boards. Still tempted by the rolling fields board since it doesn't look as heavily 'terrained' as some of the others, and some of the painted pictures are just gorgeous, just a shame the board did more damage to my daemonettes than the enemy.

That looks fantastic. I'm still waiting on my piddly little display board to ship :/ I was told in November it was one of the ones unaffected by the various shortages, but the funding crunch must have hit shipping hard. As I've still heard no word on it shipping 3 months later.

I'm guessing the buildings took about 10 hours to build and 20 hours to paint. Along with 12 hours for table - probably 50 hours total.
And yes now scatter terrain - land raider, rhinos as suggested

Shipping Update - US/UK/AUS - All Regions - All Themes

US Update
The US container has been delayed by the congestion at the Port of Oakland. Although I'm still waiting on that product, we are still shipping the inventory that we already have. I'll sort through the shipping manifest as soon as I can free up some time and update folks on how many orders still need to go out.
UK Update
The UK container is due to be delivered on 28-January. I will post another update as soon as the team at Mantic lets me know what their shipping schedule is likely to be.
AUS Update
AUS shipping is complete. If you do not yet have your product, or there was an issue with your order, please send me a message. If you are waiting on your wall/fortification set, please see below.
Wall/Fortification Update
The wall/fortification sets have all started shipping. I'll get some photos of the finished sets posted as soon as I have some time, but with convention season ramping up again things are... a wee bit nuts.
Border/Frame Update
These are included in the recent shipments from China, which means that AUS backers should have them, and US/UK/etc. backers will see them go out in the next wave.
Thank you!
There's not a lot of news today, but as folks were asking for an update I wanted to be able to share what little I had.
Until next time, happy hobbying!
Good news all round then?

I finally have news for you!
UK/EU
I just got off of the phone with Mantic. They have received their stock, and will resume shipments on Monday. A few parcels actually left today, so some of you likely got your UPS notice.
USA/Other
We received out stock yesterday, and got it sorted. We never stopped shipping, of course, but we will now be able to resume shipping for the shorted orders.
AUS
There was a shortage of Display Board sets in AUS, and we are working to correct that presently. Your order will either be on a container in March, or leave from California ASAP.
Border/Frame Sets
These are in the new stock sets, and will ship with the current round of orders.
Wall/Fortification Sets
Production molds are finished, and sets have begun shipping. I'll post photos just as soon as I find some time to breathe. Con season is officially here, and things are hopping!
Thank you!
My thanks, again, to everyone that has helped us make this product a reality. My apologies to those of you that are still waiting. We're moving as quickly as we can, and product is leaving every week.

UK/EU Backers
Mantic is down to the last ten orders, and then we're all wrapped up! Wonder of wonders!
AUS/NZ Backers
We still have a few open orders in AUS/NZ that we're working with The Combat Company to close. I'll be including some Display Boards with his next shipment, and that should be the last of it. For those of you waiting on order corrections, we have a list now, and we'll be sorting those orders this month.
USA/Other Backers
We're still shipping every week, and I got the updated register last week that shows:
International: 122 orders remaining
Domestic: 244 orders remaining
These numbers are a bit deceptive, however, as they include Deadzone orders that were previously shipped, $1 backers that don't get a reward, t-shirt backers, etc. Realistically we probably have a total of approx. 200 domestic orders remaining.
How long will it take?
We're shipping about 20 orders per week right now - give or take - so we're estimating about 10-15 weeks to finish shipping. That's still much longer than we'd like, and so we'll ramp up when and where we can.
If you'd like to help cover your shipping, please drop me a message with your email address, and I'll get you a quote. Backers that cover their shipping will have their order shipped right away.
In the interim... we'll be getting ready for Adepticon in Chicago next month, and I hope to see many of you there! The tiles will be on display, of course, and I'll be teaching six classes over the weekend, and hosting a Manhattan bar one night.
THANK YOU!
I will never be able to thank all of you enough for your patience, support, and sustained enthusiasm. This has been one heck of a ride!
Will there be another Kickstarter? Probably. Not soon! It will also be a VERY different, single theme campaign. But not soon. So not soon!

Well, these last orders are from the batch that SWM had forgotten to order, and WGF let them make a new order for below their minimums, right?
115
Post by: Azazelx
Little condolence to how many months of not being able to sell the product worth of turnover, and having their lunch eaten by the GW Urban table of Skulls board, etc. The chain of WGF's months of feth ups/overpromising and underdelivering certainly makes allowing SWM to make a smaller than usual order far less of a generous gesture in context.

Did GW pay off WGF to feth over SWM so they could get their own (frankly fething terrible) urban board?
59176
Post by: Mathieu Raymond
No, but with the way things at WGF were progressing, anyone with an internet connection (so only at home for GW people) could have had an ear to the ground regarding the new hotness and brought a product to market faster.
Not necessarily a better product, but a product nonetheless.

Yes, but we have to ween some people off the teet first. If SWM had come to a virgin field, it might have been easier.

I doubt that would have happened, but since GW has become more of a reactive company since Chapterhouse, I wouldn't put it past them seeing the KS (and the G&G one) in production and deciding to accelerate putting their own product into the market, as it's more or less a natural extension of their existing ROB board.
Mathieu Raymond wrote:Yes, but we have to ween some people off the teet first. If SWM had come to a virgin field, it might have been easier.
This. The GW board was out for several months before the SWM one was, so I'm sure that no small amount of people who might have bought a SWM already bought a Realm of Skulls board in the interim - and most people aren't going to buy 2 or 3 different urban boards...

Mantic has remaindered stock - BUY IT NOW!
Mantic needs to clear up the space in their warehouse, and before they pick it up for demos and samples, we're giving you a chance to expand your boards. Those 8 tile sets will NOT be available in the retail wave, so this is an exclusive, limited time, limited quantity opportunity.
First come, first served. Sorry.
Limited stock means that I'll process orders in the order I receive them, and when something sells out, that's the end of it. For now, obviously. We're still aiming to have stock on the shelves this summer. In the interim....
How to buy:
Send an email to jmccoy@secretweaponminiatures.com with this subject:
YOUR NAME - Tablescapes Buy
In the body of the email, please include the description, taken from below, of what you want. I will send you a PayPal payment request. Once that clears, we'll pull the inventory for you. There is a fixed $10 per parcel shipping cost.
What do we have?!!?
SCRAP YARD 16 tile set @ 3 ($200/ea)
SCRAP YARD 4 tile Display Board set @ 8 ($80/ea)
ROLLING FIELDS 4 tile Display Board set @ 4 ($80/ea)
MIXED URBAN 8 tile expansion @ 20 ($100/ea)
MIXED URBAN 16 tile set @ 20 ($200/ea)
DAMAGED URBAN 16 tile set @ 10 ($200/ea)
DAMAGED URBAN 8 tile expansion @ 30 ($100/ea)
DAMAGED URBAN 4 tile Display Board set @ 5 ($80/ea)
CLEAN URBAN 8 tile expansion @ 30 ($100/ea)
DEADZONE 16 tile set @ 5 ($200/ea)
DEADZONE 4 tile Display Board set @ 10 ($80/ea)
FORGOTTEN CITY 8 tile expansion @ 10 ($100/ea)
FORGOTTEN CITY 4 tile Display Board set @ 5 ($80/ea)
Order now - this will move quickly!
That's the full extent of the remaindered inventory, and what isn't sold by Monday 16-March will get picked up by Mantic for demo and sample usage.
GO! GO! GO!
Wait... you don't have your TILES?!!?
If you are a backer in the EU/ UK region, and you do not have your TILES please message me immediately. We do have some emergency backer stock set aside, but at this point everyone in the UK/ EU should have received their tiles. Your walls are still coming.
Thank you!
I'll be back next week with an update for Adepticon - because of course we'll be there with tiles AND WALLS to show off. We will also have a VERY limited stock of 24 tile sets for sale.

Not a GENCON vet, but I do own both urban boards. The packaging for the boards is large enough and heavy enough that transporting it home may be a problem. If you are local to the convention or driving to the convention with enough space in your vehicle to accommodate a box the size of a small/medium microwave, you will be fine. If you are flying, or crammed into a sardine can of a vehicle with other people, getting the boards home may be difficult.
51769
Post by: Snrub
If it helps at all.
The box has dimension of 34cm x 35cm x 32cm and with 24 tiles it weighs roughly 8kg.
So if my conversions are right then in Imperial measurements that's roughly 14in x 14in x 13in and weighs ~16lbs
So It'd get uncomfortable if you have to carry it for any length of time.

I wish I had known that shipping was an issue, I would have paid extra to have my KS boards shipped along with the boards I added later. As it is I've had half the table for about 5 months and still waiting on the original boards.

Mr Justin responded to me. It was straight and to the point. I like it. Hasn't shipped yet, but at least someone else doesn't have their grubby hands on my board.

Makes me feel bad that my store has two boxes on sale while pledgers are still waiting on theirs to arrive.

Dude, with all due respect, children are starving in Africa.
I'm ok with waiting. I've been going full steam on my other projects. Do you know how long it takes to assemble and convert 100 conscripts? Let alone paint the buggers?
But to piss off my WAAC friend, it is priceless.

Is Adepticon finished yet? I'm hoping that Justin can get the last of the backer sets done and out the door so he can start making actual money off these. He (and by extension, we) sure got fethed over by WGF.

Yeah, it ended last Sunday.
From what I understand there is still a few more weeks of shipping to go.

Update #169

It's a shipping update!

Things have been crazy at Secret Weapon HQ, but I do have a shipping update for you!
Orders remaining:
Domestic 137
International 28
Canada 76
We're making progress every week, with another 22 domestic and 7 Canadian orders today. I know we shipped two to Singapore last week, and other international orders have obviously been moving.
At this point any backer in AUS/NZ or EU/UK should have everything except for their walls. I know there are a couple of you in both regions still holding for an update -- and we'll keep on that via email.
I am still very much hoping to be finished with all backer shipping by the end of May. Everything is focused on that at this point.
As a couple of people have asked, I also want to clarify a couple of points on what happens when a backer helps with the cost of shipping:
1) Your order ships immediately with the next round of weekly pledges
2) This does not impact the other orders in any way, shape, or form. If we were going to ship 22 orders this week, and 2 people pay for shipping, then we ship 24 orders. Easy peasy!
Also, what about those walls?
The crew has been shipping the Rolling Fields wall sets, and I'll be in the warehouse over the next couple of weeks to help get the other themes out the door. We've shipped a few of the others, but the production process on these is INCREDIBLY slow, and we're working to correct that. Giant molds are giant though, and there's only so much room in our big tanks.
That's really that at this point. We're almost finished. Finally.
So what if you're the last backer to ship? Oh, there will be goodies, and a celebration. True story.
More news when I have it, and as always my thanks go out to everyone involved in this campaign. I have really loved seeing photos of painted sets, and it was great being able to talk to so many of you at Adepticon. Thank you so much!
And now, back to it...

I like that Canada is not domestic (clearly not) but is not international either.

So I got my boards last night. Urban Street. The clips fit very snugly, it's very thin so I can pad it with foam layers once I am done painting. I'm just a tad disappointed that on quite a few, I can see the injection point has caved in a bit, and the circle pattern is present on some.
Is it nice? Yes, I hope I can camouflage some of it with paint, and at least it's not covered in skulls.

The End Is Nigh

Here we are, nearing the end of our journey. Finally.
Word from the shop is that the pile of outgoing orders is now a wee, tiny little thing. I'll have an exact update when I get back from ReaperCon in a couple of weeks -- but I didn't want to leave you all without word for that long.
AUS/NZ/UK/EU - Border/Frame?
If you are in AUS/NZ/UK/EU and have NOT received your border/frame set, please contact me. At this point everything in those regions should be done...
EXCEPT FOR THE WALLS
The wall sets are leaving from California, and the crew is still working to get those produced. We're shipping them as quickly as we can make them, and they're usually still warm when they get packed. True story.
USA/CAN/OTHER
We're down to the last few orders, and still shipping every week. Orders waiting on walls, or border/frame sets are still shipping as well. The crew has been focused on tile sets though, and we'll crank out any of the other goodies in a rush once the last big box ships. If you have walls, or a border/frame set, AND you're waiting on tiles then it SHOULD all ship together.
Thank you again!
This has been an... adventure. Truly. Thank you all again for your support, patience, and enthusiasm. I can't tell you how happy I am to have had your help in making the product a reality. I'll place a new retail stock order in June, and the Tablescapes Tiles will officially be on the market in a big way. I couldn't have done it without you.
Today, however, I need to get back to sculpting for all of those new base sizes, and start packing for ReaperCon. If you're going to be in Texas for the show, please say hello.
Happy hobbying,

I think this Kickstarter should be a case study on why you should not offer free shipping. Especially large, heavy objects. ESPECIALLY internationally.

I paid for shipping. I think. Didn't we?

No there was no shipping charge for any backers no matter where they lived the pledge level cost all we paid. The only exception was when they ran out of funds to ship and offered backers the option to pay the shipping cost so their stuff got shipped straight away but this was always an optional fee shipping was no extra if you were prepared to wait.

Hoping someone who has one of the Tablescape tile sets can answer a quick query of mine.
In terms of how the tiles clip together on the back, how solid is this connection?
Specifically, do they hold together under their own weight? I was hoping to put the table on top of a table that's about 4'x4', so you would have about a 1ft overhang on either side. Is this feasible?
Also, what are peoples general feelings on the overall quality of the board? Was thinking of getting the 'damaged urban streets' one.

It's pretty solid but I certainly don't think they're strong enough to overhang by the length of a whole tile. They'll probably overhang by about half a tile comfortably but overhanging right from the join is just asking for trouble. I haven't properly tested this but the engineer in me says it needs support
As to quality, they're fantastic. Of the ones I have (damaged streets, clean streets and rolling fields) the damaged streets are the most detailed and the detail is brilliant; but I prefer the clean streets, as I think sometimes the rubble/damage makes the other ones difficult to place models/terrain on.
Rolling Fields I think are my favourite overall for the sake of flexibility, as they're much more scale-neutral.

I'm sorry to hear about fulfillment issues. The boards are really nice, though, and well worth purchasing.

I have that one, they are absolutely brilliant. I was tossing up between that and the RoB from GW, but while the perfectly fitting buildings is handy, I really hate the over the top stupid grimdark parts of theirs. The SWM boards are really good, hopefully I have them painted this millennium

I got my display frame in finally, and it's definitely not worth the wait. It feels pretty flimsy and I won't be comfortable walking around a tournament with it. Has anyone made a stable way to use it or built their own frame?

Preaching for (not to) my own choir, but a masonite square with a nice wooden frame (moulding) that you finish yourself would probably look nice.

Of course that would be ideal, but I got this as something that can travel well in checked luggage.

Ah, yes. I see. Air travel is the farthest thing from my radar, I never even considered. Sorry.

Does anyone have a solution for the lack of stacking clips? Can we 3d print them or something?

A friend of mine glued the 1x1 SWM tiles in 4's onto plywood to make 2x2 tiles (making them essentially the same format as Real of Battle boards). As much as it's nice to have the flexibility of rearranging 1x1's, 2x2's just work better for us on the tabletop. They have more weight, don't shift, you don't need the little jigsaw things, etc. Plus, plywood is more grippy to whatever table is below.
The problem with air travel is always that they're *really* rough with stuff you check. I think you'd need some kind of custom case with tons of protection to safely transport these as a matter of casual/airline travel.
